hi. i tried to find a thread on this but after a search i found nothing recent. so i got a prime trail and i like it, but i only use it for streaming. both my boyfriend and mom have their own membership, but only use it for shipping. they both said its silly for me to pay for my own membership, since they only use half of theirs.

is there a way to split it to different members of your household? the main concern is if they do stream, they don't want to be shown my history not thiers, and if they do shop, they may not want me to see what they buy. i also have my amazon account with giftcards i earn from surveys and music I bought. can they be merged?

If you sign up for the paid Prime membership I think you can share the free 2 day shipping with others in your household but only one account can stream. The only way others could stream is if you give them you log in and password.

I logged into my Prime account and found:

Share Your Amazon Prime Benefits

Free or paid Amazon Prime members can share their shipping benefits with up to four additional family members living in the same household. If you purchase a Prime membership for a small business, you may invite up to four co-workers to shop with this corporate account. Other Amazon Prime membership benefits such as Prime Instant Video, Prime Music, and the Kindle Owners' Lending Library can't be shared.

Only the main account holder (the one that pays the Prime membership) can stream. The only perk that is shareable is the free 2-day shipping.

We are piggybacking off of two different Prime accounts. LOL My BIL set us up on his to get free two-day shipping, and my parents also have a paid membership so they shared their Prime password with us so we could use the streaming feature (which we hardly use because Netflix is our favorite).

Maybe they would share their password with you?

That's a great idea and how many people would proceed on the internet.

But - sometimes people want to connect with other ideas and experiences. That is what keeps people coming to the budget board, for that human connection.

I imagine that sometimes after reading the same questions over and over for years, some would suggest this - google it!

The question is new to the OP. I'm sure she is capable of checking the prime website, but she wants to talk to some of us as well.

OP - I've shared with family, but just the shipping part. And, I've opened up the account and saw what my family was shopping for. Now, I just try to ignore that and reap the free shipping benefits. I have little interest in anything else for me so it works for me to share.

I am a Prime Member. I have two college age kids. We share my Prime, and have for a long time. They can stream from their computers and I stream from my XBox360. We use my account for buying and shipping items. They do need to have my login and password and credit card, but I don't have a problem with sharing that with them as they ask before buying anything.

This may not fit in the 'sharing' that you are talking about though, as it's us with one account and several users in different places.

hi everyone, thanks for the help:goodvibes. yes i was posting here because 1) i could not find those terms for some reason, i think because i have been streaming i kept being redirected to the streaming section when i tried to look at membership details and 2) i know in the past members on here have shared how these things work in more practical terms. i knew if there was a loophole or better way to share amazon would not be posting it as they want everyone to pay for a membership.

soooo, based on your advice i will try the double piggy back approach lol. my mother has already given me he password as she doesn't stream and told me to try it. i will use that to stream. as my boyfriend does stream, i will leave his account as is, but may use the free shipping from him. i basically buy something to ship to me a few times a year, and typically a few things for my mother for christmas that are hard to find, so i definitely don't want to use hers for shipping. i have my own amazon cloud filled with purchased music and kindle books, so based on that i guess i need to keep my account and then have my boyfriend convert to mine if we want one account for both of us in the future with the prime membership.

one thing that has turned me off from paying for another account is you need to download that program to stream, and therefore i can't stream at work during lunch which is the main time i wanted to stream. this means i may only stream just a few times a week, but they have some shows i really want to watch lol.

Does anyone know if you can share the prime shipping when you have a student account? I am not seeing an option to share on my account. That makes Christmas really awkward as my wife gets on my Amazon account to order my presents...I try to be a good boy and not look at what she got me... :goodvibes I know at times through the history of student prime, various pieces were not available to student members because we paid only half the price of the normal membership.

You can't share shipping on a student account.

Sure, but why not read the rules first and then ask questions if you don't understand something?

Sometimes someone wants to know something and it isn't convenient to check the Internet at that time. Posting a question can get results faster than if waiting until a time when one can sit down with an Internet connection and a screen large enough to read the fine print. Sometimes posting a question also serves as a reminder to go check the Internet later. Getting tired of people complaining about others asking questions on a discussion forum. ::sad::

:confused3

You do understand if someone posts a query here, that they are using the Internet?

No one complained here except you, ;)

lost in cyberspace - sometimes your answer is not an answer - it's a command for the OP to go do their homework and not bother you.
