Sharing on Disney Dining

Can I get a counter service meal and have my daughters share it? I am forced to buy an adult plan for my 12 year old and she will never eat an entire adult meal, so she could share it with her little sister? I assume I can't do this with table service, but I can't see why I wouldn't be able to do it with counter service. Or can I do it with table service as well? Has anybody tried? Does Disney care?

My husband and I had no problems at all sharing our CS and TS credits this past August trip. We would share his CS credit for breakfast, share my CS credit for lunch and then both use our TS credits for dinner. At other times we shared our TS credits for dinner depending on the amount of food we ate throughout the day. The CM's even split the meals right down the middle and brought it out on two seperate plates, but charged us only one credit. You shouldn't have any problems at all!

We didn't have the dining plan but the wife and I will sometimes do this because we aren't big eaters. We did this in the parks because we didn't want to over eat and spew on the rides. I have a brother in law that could use 2 dinner plans just for himself and not affect his riding abilities.

Sure, go ahead and split the CS meals and save some of the credits for other meals like breakfast. If a server allows you to split a TS meal as in MariaEllerºoº's case, make sure that you tip appropriately! That is, tip extra for the extra service :).

We had no problem sharing. There were a few places we did this because my children (14 & 12) weren't all that crazy about the entree choices and used our appetizers as their main course. We usually just ordered their drinks OOP or had water.

The kids portions are tiny. DS9 was always still hungry so we just started ordering him an adult meal.

My 2 kids often split an adult CS meal last summer. We'd use the extra CS credit for a breakfast at the resort or a "snack" from the Main St Bakery.

They could probably also share at TS meals, but I'm assuming the "little sister" is a child on the plan? Keep in mind that every time they share an adult meal, you'll have an unused child's TS credit. They're harder to use up than extra child CS credits, since it's unlikely the little one will be dining alone. And paying OOP for adult meals for the rest of the family just to use leftover child's TS credits could get pretty expensive. You'd probably be better off just using the child's credit, too, at TS meals, even if they share and ultimately don't finish everything.

I agree it would be hard to use leftover kids TS credits while cs credits are much easier. Plan on having leftover cs credits for last day!!

Definitely tip extra!

DH and I were thinking of going to Cali Grill and Splitting the appetizer/entree/dessert between the two of us...

Is this okay, too?:confused3

Usually the ddp has so much food we have to waddle out... it would be nice to walk normally...;)

Actually, there has been a poster who got an email from guest services that said that SHARING THE DDP IS NOT ALLOWED, so don't be surprised if they don't let you do it.

I'll try and find the post.

Not sure about now, but we did it in December with no problem. We're going again this December and are hoping to do it again. Way too much food otherwise!

I know you aren't supposed to share your dining credits with someone not on the DDP. Is that the kind of "sharing" they were talking about?

Within your own party, I can't imagine they would tell me I have to buy a CS meal for both my kids. Doesn't make sense! :confused3

We are hoping to share some TS meals to stretch them out a bit and then go to a Signature Dining place or two. Or splitting some CS meals here and there for lunch and dinner (less conspicuous) and then using the extra TS credits for the Signature Dining places.

Well, they could apply such a restriction. The sense behind it would be that the Dining Plan is purchased for a set of meals, not for an amount of food. However, almost all indications are that they are not applying such a restriction at this time.
