Is sharing meals frowned upon? I notice some people saying there is a lot of food on these dining plans. My husband and I will be on the Platnium plan, and the meals come with appetizer, entree and dessert ! For one of our lunches, we will be joined by my 2 girls ( 11 and 7) and a family friend.( all NOT on plan) Can we all share the 2 appetizers, and my daughters share the 2 entrees with me and hubby ? ( we would just buy one additional meal for our friend oop. )
Thanks

Sharing with people who are not on the plan is generally forbidden. Certainly, you absolutely cannot give them your credits. And I would think most restaurants would stop you from just sharing your plates with them, while they don't order anything.

But I would suspect that if you at least purchased entrees and kids meals for your three guests, nobody would stop you from giving them a "taste" of your food as well.

The dining plans don't allow you to use your credits to provide meals for people who aren't on your reservation and didn't buy the dining plan.

Don't know about the platinum plan, as it's not a Disney dining plan. But you should be prepared to buy meals for the kids as well.

The platinum plan is a Disney dining plan (just not available to DVC stays).

No, it's not a Disney dining plan. It has a dining component that is similar (although not identical) to a Disney dining plan, but it is an entirely different program. This is why you can't upgrade a free DDP to the premium or platinum plans, get a premium or platinum on a DVC stay, or get a ticketless AP package on a premium or platinum plan. There are only three Disney Dining Plans - quick service, regular (or dining plus) and deluxe.

I have a simlilar question. I read the sticky up above and the express dining PDF. I read in another post that they don't track the adult meals seperately from the kids meals. So here is my question. When we go to disney world me and my wife have always split meals so we can try many places.

We have two kids with us one 3 and one that is 2.

If we order a meal to share and a kids meal, will they be aware that we haven't used our adult meal credits? Or will they make us use the adult ones that are left for kids meals if we have extra adult meals towards the end of our stay?
Just to be clear I don't want to use KIDS credits for adult meals. I just want to know if we do get just a few meals if we have to use a credit for a kids meal EACH time.

So for instance to point out what I mean(we are staying 7 nights) if we eat out three meals a day. With one adult and one kids meals per sitting we would be short 7 kids meals and have 7 extra adult meals. I'd like to pay for those extra kids meals and use my adult credits to try other places to eat. Is that type of sharing against their food policy? W ewould be eating the same as they want us to just at a slower pace. Sorry for the long post.

If you're not using kids credits for adult meals (unless the restaurant has no kid's menu) you can order and split the CS meals however you want.

Can you share a table service meal? I would buy an extra drink. There is just so much food!! That way we would have some extra credits to put toward the meals that require 2 credits.

Yes, we share TS meals all the time. Never had a problem. Sometimes its just too much food!

We've done something similar. We ordered our dxdp meals for the 2 adults. We had 2 other adults with us not on the plan. They ordered 1 meal (might have even been just an appetizer can't remember) to split and then shared our appetizers and desserts.

You aren't allowed to share your credits but the wait staff is not there to police who is eating what off of which plate. It didn't seem to be a problem at all.

:confused3so let me understand this - family of four 2 adults and 2 kids we could go to a table service resturant and share a meal and this is not frowned upon my Disney. At the moment we have the Deluxe Dining Plan (for the 2 credit ts), but if we can share we can go to the regular Dining Plan.

You can share but not at buffets or all you can eat places. Also, with the regular dining plan you do not get an appetizer so it does cut down on the food. Dxdp is alot of food to be honest... we like it for the flexibility but most people can get away with the regular dining plan an just supplement a few meals as needed. (IMO).

There are also a few non-disney owned restaurants that are difficult about sharing... Via Naple comes to mind.
