I've also posted a thread on the dining forum but maybe you guys will be able to help me better. I've read about people sharing meals. Don't you find this rather embarassing to share a meal, don't Disney feel like their missing out on getting their hands on your money to be serving one meal to two or more people? I'm weighing up the pros and cons of the Dining Plan but I just don't think we'll eat that much so it's a lovely idea to share but I'd feel like they think we're penny pinching. It would be lovely not to be so embarassed about things but that's me and I can't change! :wave2:

Yes i always feel that if i'm taking up a table, all of us should order meals. But since we never order appetizers or deserts, we usually manage to finish most of our food anyway (just the main course).

I vacation about 3 times a year with friends from across the States, in Disney and we are always splitting things, appetizers and entrees. I never feel guilty and the staff are always helpful to do this. In some restaurants I've been charged a "plate fee" usually a $1 or so for this service.

I've never felt embarrassed at all and seeing as I'm with a lot of Americans when I eat and they're never embarrassed I really don't see it as a problem, loads of guests do it :)

Thanks for that info - if it's common place then I won't feel so bad. There's no way Ashley who will be 11 when we go will eat much he'll probably just pick at his food so he could share with me. Obviously my other son Glen who will be a strapping 14 year old when we go could eat for England and probably will :rotfl:

Like Joey in Friends, I don't share food. If there's an entree on the menu that interests me, I want all of it, not just a part.
I dare anyone to try to eat only half of the salmon at Citricos. I had to sit on my hands not to eat the plate.

The same was true of the pasta primavera from the GF room service. And I hate pasta, so that's saying a lot.

Obviously they wouldn't think twice if you share with your children. Your son can also order from the children's menu if he likes, even if he's over the official disney definition of child (i think 9 years old). I've even ordered from the children's menu on occasion (when that was all that i could eat in that particular restaurant).
They really don't care.

I htink you will find that the portion sizes are so huge that sharing will be the sensible option. We decided that the Dining Plan was not for us simply because of this. There is no way we could eat that much food every day!!! The only places you can set your own portion size is buffett restaurants

I don't see the problem with sharing,we have done it a few times on and offsite, not once have i thought we were being frowned on for it.We even did it once offsite with a ice-cream milkshake between 3 adults and 2 kid's. :) They server didn't bat an eyelid for it.We always make sure we tip as though we had all had seperate ones.

Good point Vicky we also tip as if we'd eaten 2 meals this way the server isn't losing out - very important, well as long as the server was good at their job also ;)

ITA, we haven't gone for the dining plan for the same reason, I find it hard to eat 2 meals a day let alone 3

We have had no problem with sharing.. we prefer doing that then leaving a mountain of food on our plates.
We will be doing the Dining plan as we will be using our TS credits for nice dinners, and at the signature restaurants it's more about quality than quantity. Then other days we might share at restaurants where the portions are huge..

My take on the DP is that I will then not feel guilty about ordering an appetizer for $10! Cause I always like the expensive stuff the best :rotfl:
