Will table service restaurants allow my children to share and adult meal? My daughter is 10 and we purchased her an adult package. My son is 9 so he is considered a child and as such has a chiild package. Will they allow them to split an adult meal as they are both tiny eaters and I know they would not be able to eat a whole meal?

This is the issue that some places are cracking down about....the theory is that if your children share and adult meal, you might be saving that child's credit to use later as another "adult" meal. Please, I'm not saying that you are doing this, but as the plan currently stands, it would be possible to do so. There would be no problem with ordering a child's meal and sharing that and possibly some of your food at places where you order off a menu. However, some places have been reported as not allowing a child to share an TS credit and not use a credit of their own.

Obviously, at buffets and family service meals, each person pays with an appropriate credit.

Thanks for the info. That is a good idea to just have the kids share the child meal as they probably won't finish that between them anyway. So do you think that the restaurants would be ok with this? :confused3
Thanks

We had no problem with 2 adults sharing an adult meal or 2 children sharing a child's meal. I have read that they have cracked down on children (3-9)sharing an adult meal because some people use this as a way to "save" credits to use a credit that was purchased at the child's price for an adult.

If you order anything extra (an additional beverage, for example), be sure to ask to pay OOP. You don't want to waste a credit on a beverage! If you don't specify, they will put it on the plan.

I think the best way to answer questions like this is to say to ask your server as it never hurts to ask and it will vary from place to place as there is no official policy at this time that is consistant from CM to CM.

When we went in July me and my DS shared most of our TS and CS meals as I am a very small eater. No problems for CM's, they were all accommodating and pleasant about it! Doesn't hurt to ask when you get there!

Ask your server and be fully prepared in case they say that each has to order a meal. Even if you call, people get different answers, so unfortunately it's a "wait until the last minute and see when you sit down" deal.

Exactly. Many folks have relayed stories about being told something over the telephone and then encountering a different reality at the restaurant. If you do want to get some level of assurance in advance, be sure you get it in writing, preferably on Disney letterhead. That's the only way you can help improve the chances of having that specific detail honored at the restaurant.

I can only share our experience this past week, which is, of course, subject to change and based on individual servers at individual restaurants. We had dd4 eat ds6's applesauce and a bite or 2 of dd8's chicken strips. DD4 never wanted more than that. After the first 2 days of pitching her meals regularly, when all she ever wanted was the applesauce, we stopped ordering meals for her completely. Also, dd13 and I shared several adult meals. This is what we do in all kinds of restaurants if we want dessert so we are used to it. If we wanted different dinners, we each ordered our own -- but if we both wanted the same thing, we ordered one dinner and shared. Still pitched lots of food or skipped dessert altogether.

We sccrambled to use TS and CS credits on the last day, but even bringing home bags full of donuts, chips, and bottled waters, we left 4 counter service and 2 table service credits completely unused. Some adult and some child.

I would hope WDW never cracks down on kids sharing kid meals or adults sharing adult meals. Don't really care if they crack down on kids sharing adult meals -- they will do what they have to and that is fine with me.

Reports of what recent diners have been able to do are interesting, but this is one of those questions that only Disney can answer.
