Hi All,
Are we allow to share meals at table service on the dining plan? We have 4 people on the dining plan but we would like to use 3 credits to purchase 3 meals to share between the 4 of us. We are not planning any meal at the buffet or AYCE restaurants. We would like to stretch our credits and have an extra TS breakfast. TIA

What about the restaurant at downtown Disney? I just read a post saying that TRex and Via Napoli don't allow sharing everyone must order their own meal. So does that mean no sharing at the third party restaurants not own by Disney:(

Via Napoli will not allow you to share the way you want. I don't know about TRex.

Most Table Service restaurants where you order from a menu will allow you to share, whether Disney or third party owned, but ultimately it will depend on the restaurant or server so it is best to ask first. Via Napoli is the one restaurant that has been pretty consistent in that you cannot use one credit to feed 2 or more people nor can you combine credits to order a larger size pizza. There have been occasional posts that a family was unable to share at one of the TS restaurants in Mexico and one person reported it at Tutto Italia.

You cannot share and everyone will be charged a credit (or pay OOP) at buffets, all you care to eat family style restaurants, fixed price meals (e.g. CRT, Akershus), dinner shows (Hoop De Doo, Spirit of Aloha Luau, Mickey's Backyard Barbecue), special event meals (e.g. fireworks dessert parties), the Fantasmic! and Candlelight Processional Dining Packages and the family platter at Whispering Canyon Cafe.

I have a question about the Fantasmic package. WE have that booked for lunch at MM. I plan on paying for one child OOP, but I am not at all sure she will want to eat all there courses. If the rest of us use our DDP credits, can I pay for her meal and still have the vouchers? This is the first time I have to manage credits in such a way that I have to choose which kids meals to pay for.

F! pkg is like a buffet in regards to who needs to pay. If you don't pay the F! price for her meal, she won't have a F! voucher.

I see

I see. So if I pay her meal oop, and I am willing to do this, she will be all set?

For Trex I've never heard of using credits and sharing or OOP and sharing being a problem. So whichever way you go, you'd probably be fine. I'd just ask when you get there to make sure.

To get a voucher for your child, you'd have to get them the Fantasmic package - whether by using a credit or paying OOP. You couldn't, for example, just get her an entrée a la carte.

It would be better to pay for her out of pocket somewhere else because of the cost of the Fantasmic package

I did not know how it worked. I always used the ddp

Yep, you don't get Fantasmic vouchers unless you're on the package, so you can't share the package. In general, you can't "share" special dining package, have one or more guests not pay, and get the same benefits for the guests who didn't pay.

I don't want to get away with anything. I just did not see a fantasmic Oop price for kids, and had always used the ddp before. We are all on ddp, but will be paying oop for some children's meals. If the little one did not need to buy an appetizer I would not purchase one for her.

Does anyone know mm package price for a child?

I don't know how accurate/up-to-date this is, but All Ears says $12.99

I'll tell you what, Disney may be expensive in many ways, but feeding kids is not one of them! THanks for the info. We are always over our credits, and I like to know ahead of time which meals I am paying OOP for. THE common denominator for kids meals is that they are not expensive!

Just bumping this to make sure.

My daughter and I are both light eaters. We have a couple meals at table service restaurants that are not buffets (Rose & Crown and 50's Prime Time) and I am wondering if we can split a meal at those restaurants and only use one credit. I would only drink water so the drink would be a non-issue. We would also share the dessert.

I know at buffets we will each have to use a credit each but I am hoping to be able to experience more restaurants and share a meal where possible.

Most TS restaurants will allow you to split a meal if you are both on the DDP. You just need to ask the serve in advance, and if allowed (it should be) the chef will split the meal in the kitchen for you. You can order any beverage that you want and pay OOP for it.

We also tend to share a few CS meals as well. I refuse to wallow through the parks after having eaten a huge breakfast or lunch, so soone will once in a while share breakfast or lunch with me. My DH, who loves his three meals a day will sometimes offer becasue he snacks his way trough every park. If you look at allears.net, you can see the menus and what is included, and will have a good idea which ones will have enough to share. To be honest, with the desert included on CS meals, even a sandwich at Columbia Harbor House is plenty for two light eaters to share.

R&C is one of our favorite meals and is the one we generally pay OOP if we have to choose.
