I always feel a little guilty going into reswtaurants and asking to share an entree, but so many places serve HUGE portions that I'd like to try to do this more. ( Prime Time is a good example of a perfect for sharing place. The only place I've ever met with an "attitude" about this was Tony's.) I'd love to try sharing at Cindy's lunch and other places. Anyone have good or bad experiences doing this, and where??

My sister and I shared many meals last October. For almost all of our lunches, we got one sandwich, an extra order of fries, and one large drink with a water cup. We shared a couple of dinners - one that I remember was chicken mole at the San Angel Inn. Sharing let us order margaritas and an appetizer while staying in our budget and our appetites; the waiter was very nice about it and brought us an extra plate.

I have never had a problem sharing meals. I almost always split because the servings are way too large for me to finish. Last year, four adults went to Le Cellier and we ordered two meals. They even split it up for us instead of just bringing an extra plate.

My in-laws are very light eates, and when at Jiko last spring they shared an entree. The staff didn't even blink, and served the entree already split on two separate plates. It looked (and tasted) great. they rarely have problems anywhere in or out of the World.

I always think of sharing with my husband or sister when we go to WDW, but we can't agree on an entree! Oh, well - we all get tastes of everything!

I split a dinner at YSH with my son a few yeards ago. Not only were they accomidating, that split it on two plates and served us that way. :D

I shared almost every meal this time with DD. She often didn't like/want what is offered on the kids menu and I can't eat those big helpings so it turned out great. I didn't have any problems anywhere.

We have never had any problems sharing meals. Most of the restaurants appreciate that their portions are huge and therefore unless you are a very bigger eater could never eat everything that is given to you.

I think it's important to recognize all the plating and consideration when tipping, too.

My DH and I often split meals and have never had a problem or "attitude" from the servers. However, as PaulaJ wrote, we tip more to compensate for the extra work that's not reflected in the total bill.

Absolutely agree with the above posters. We never had a problem with sharing and usually leave a larger tip to compensate for extra service. Beaches and Cream split a double hamburger three ways with a plate, french fries and a pickle for each. Then we each got our own sundae.

Last year my husband and I split an appetizer, chili cheese fries, and the fried chicken meal at 50's Prime Time Cafe. Our cousin even served the fried chicken on two plates for us. No problem there. We also split a cheeseburger and fries at Pecos Bills which was more than enough.

I couldn't agree more. When we do this we always tip as if we had nboth ordered a full meal. So if we split a $30 entree, we add in the tip as if there had also been a second $30 entree (another $6).
