Sharing meals at TS restaurants

Since US portions are HUGE to us we usually end up leaving a lot of food on our plates when visiting the US. Disney is no exception. When dining off-site we sometimes have to 2 oldest kids (11 and 13) split a meal and from time to time the youngest has eaten off our plate as well. We still usually can´t finish our meals and if we do, we can always order deserts to fill up. I hate seeing all this food and $$$ go to waste.

Is this o.k. to do at Disney´s TS places as well? Would the 6 of us be allowed to share 3 meals of the adult menu? That means the 11 and 13 year old would share a meal, the 3 year old would share with DH and the 6 year old with me.

If you are on the Disney Dining Plan everyone must use a credit. If you are paying out of pocket you should be fine. We have meal shared our way around WDW and Disneyland due to those huge portions. I do generally tip a bit extra when we do share. Lots of places in WDW have been nice enough to split the plate for us. Sci Fi for instance has always done this, we get two meals for the four of us plus a each kid gets a shake and dh and I get ice tea. So we each get our own drink but we do share meals. I have never not been able to do this. At DL they now charge a plate splitting fee which I am fine with since they do split the entree and each person gets their own side. I haven't seen this at WDW thus far.

This does not work if its a buffet however. Then everyone must pay, no sharing allowed.

You would not be able to do this at buffets or all you care to eat places (like garden grill or LTT)

Depending on where you go, you may also find smaller portions than in the past. Just to be aware :)

We've shared food (apps, entrees, everything) at a number of TS places, mostly signature dining. Never had a problem, most servers are happy to help, have the food split in the kitchen. That said we've only used the DDE and not been on the DDP, so not sure how that would work. FWIW.

They're definately still massive compared to other places with a very few obvious exceptions (a lobster can only be so big). We find this even with TS meals and often split them. I heard some restaurants have a plate charge if you share, but I'm not sure which ones or if this is still true. Maybe someone can speak to that?

My DH, DD22, DD19 and I share at Disney TS restaurants all the time. The girls and I aren't big eaters. Sometimes we get two appetizers and two entrees. Sometimes we'll get three entrees for the four of us. There are a few occasions where we just got two entrees with a dessert to share.

Just wanted to add that if you are sharing something like a burger and fries, sometimes you both will get a full order of fries.

My son once ordered the cheddar cheese soup at LeCellier and my husband and I wanted to try it. So I asked for three spoons. We ended up with three bowls of soup and only got charged for one!

Be aware that sometimes "sharing a meal" means you get even more food!
