Has anyone ever encountered a problem or attitude from a CM when asking to share a meal on the dining plan?

I know that many restaurants frown upon adults sharing meals, but so many people talk of sharing meals at WDW that it must be allowed, right? We will be on dining plan (free of course) and as someone who is trying VERY hard to lose weight, I would like to share some eals w/ DH, especially in light of appetizer & dessert selection.

I have never been one to make extra demands while dining, (ordering things specially made, asking for substitutions, etc...) and I have this paranoid (ok, crazy) fear of doing anything "faux pas" while eating out, so forgive me if this post seems silly! :goodvibes

If anyone can make me feel a little more at ease about asking to share I'd appreciate it.

We've shared meals a lot. I think you have the right idea. There is usually entirely too much food in a serving for someone who is trying to watch their figure to eat by themselves. Getting an appetizer, entree and dessert to share is usually enough to fill you up but not stuff you. Don't worry it's done all the time.

I have to agree. We share all the time - at Disney and many other restaurants. I think it is very common because I've never had a server react strangely to this request.

We are on the free dining too and plan to share most TS meals as I too have just lost weight and I do not plan to gain it all back by eating app, entree, and dessert all myself.

I grew up in the "clean your plate" club and hate to waste food, free or not! Plus, there are just so many great restaurants to try that by sharing, we can try even more!!!

You might consider leaving an additional cash tip.

The portions at WDW, particularly for the better restaurants, aren't as huge as some people post. You might want to order an extra entrée, sharing the appetizer and dessert or just order an extra appetizer.

we share meals at disney (and home) and never have a problem..in fact we never eat at all you can eats at disney ( except trails end) cause they are too expensive for what we eat. some places ( BD for example) will even plate them seperately it they know you are going to share. last trip(04) we used some kingdom vacation vouchers which is the same amount of food as on the dining plan...however no way we could eat it all ourselves...i am guessing you are planning on using 2 sit down meals a day and a counter breakfast with the free dining (to use them up) so no way i wouldn't share or i'd be rolling around the parks.

do leave an extra tip though since otherwise they are doing the same amount of service for 1/2 the tip

We share meals often, especially after a big lunch at somewhere like Whispering Canyon, Flame Tree or House of Blues.

Servers usually don't have a problem with sharing. And we always leave a larger tip if they don't cop an attitude and bring us an extra plate, or split the entree in the kitchen.

Thanks for the advice- we will definitely tip extra to compensate for the meal the CM will "lose."

I defintely don't want the magic of Disney to be tarnished by my expanded waistline! :rotfl2:

Even though I love to eat...there is NO WAY I could eat an appetizer, entree and dessert. One reason we are not doing the dining plan (which would not be free).

When eating out Mom and I plan and will split the entree if we want dessert. We do tip based on what we would have eaten....tip based on 2 entrees and no dessert.

And once again....I haven't seen any problems with this....which is good since one of my good friends has had bariatric surgury and can't even eat a child portion! We explain and have never had a problem.

On the free plan what happens if you share a meal but then want to order an extra app? Do you pay cash for the extra app or do you get charged a full TS?
