Sharing food while NOT on DP

Hi!

I will be 4.5 months pregnant when we are at Disney World. I don't know how sick I will be at that point so we are not doing the dining plan. Can someone tell me if it's ok to share a meal with someone? Can I just ask for a second plate, and how do cast members respond to that?

I see no problem with sharing. My husband and I shared when we where on the DP. We went to the Plaza for lunch and ordered 1 TS and they split it for us before it came to us.

It'll probably be allowed anywhere but buffets and all-you-can-eat places.

like Nala said, the AYCE places won't let you, but I don't think I recall any other places charging a 'plate sharing charge'.
JMO, but you should try to tip as if you were ordering for 2 ppl.

The only place that has a charge for sharing is Shula's.

Disney restaurants are great with sharing. However, they will split the meal in the kitchen. So if you want to share a steak with someone, you will get half that steak on your plate, not just a few bites that you want to eat. Also, they usually will give a full or 3/4 size of the side dish to each person. So you could very well end up with a half of a steak and lots of fries.

You don't have to get a full blown meal at the restaurant. You can just order any side listed on the menu or even on the kids menu. You don't even have to order anything but crackers.

Don't worry about it. Know what you want and Disney will accommodate you.

I have read many times on these boards that people share with no problem. I haven't done it. What I did do last trip was not order many entrees. I usually ordered an appetizer, a salad and dessert. That worked well for me and is a reason to not go with the dining plan.
