Are there any restaurants that allow two people to share an entre'e (not on the dining plan) or will allow a split plate for a charge? We were able to do this at several places in Disneyland last year.

I haven't heard of any restaurants having issues with that if you are paying OOP.

I know we have ordered one dinner and split it between the two of us. We have done this with our children, order an adult meal and split it. Cosmic rays which is a counter service in the magic kingdom has a wonderful menue, my husband and I have split the chicken and rib meal and have also shared many meals there. we share drinks by bringing our own cups with us in our backpacks and we have never been questioned. i know many folks bring food into the parks and do their own picnic. If you are going to eat at disney, this is the way to go. I do know that at a buffet such as crystal palace you are all charged and hollywood and vine. Those are your typical schmorgasbord places where you go up and help yourself, those you cant buy one mean and share it. But as I have mentioned at cosmic rays and the counter services, we have done that. I even order off the childrens menue when I am not that hungry. Have a wonderful trip!

Sharing a meal is one of the great money saving tips for WDW. My experience has been that the portions for adult meals are pretty large and we have never had an issue with requesting another plate. They only places that won't let you do that are obviously the buffet type restaurants (aka "all you can eat"). Enjoy!!

If you tell the server, it is very common for the split to be done for you in the kitchen. The amount of meat on the two plates will total the same quantity as a meal for one, but some of the side dishes may be more than 1 50% portion. And there is no extra charge.

We split almost every meal last time we went to WDW. We were on the dining plan and it was never a problem. The first night we all ordered separately and there was sooo much waste. So, as long as there was something at least two of us wanted, we split. I never left a meal even remotely hungry.

They are actually quite used to splitting entrees. Since they're generally so big, it's a great way to save money if you're not on the DDP.

Just be sure you know what you're getting yourself into. There's a story in one of the threads here about a couple that decided to split a ravioli appetizer. When it came out, there was one piece of ravioli, neatly cut in half and separated onto two plates. :rotfl:

The Disney restaurants don't charge, but you might want to check at the non-Disney owned restaurants. I've never been charged for sharing, but I hadn't tried sharing at non-Disney restaurants.

I tend to expect a splitting charge here at home, so if I'm charged, so be it. I consider it a bonus when Disney doesn't charge for that. :)
