Sharing Dinners

My daughter (23 yrs. old) and I are planning our August trip. Neither one of us are huge eaters. Is it allowed for us to order an appetizer each and share a dinner and dessert? Or share an appetizer and dinner and each get a dessert? I'm not sure what the policy is for sharing dinners at a table service restaurant. Has anyone else done this?

Yes, to all of the above or even to just splitting an entree. Unless you are at a buffet they are fine with it. I would tip a little more than 18% though. I often order an appetizer as my meal and just add a salad. We always split desserts as well.

It's fine as long as your not on the DDP (on the DDP, sharing is not allowed).

We do this a lot and sometimes the restaurant will split the order in the kitchen. This way we always have room for dessert.

We always share (even when on the DDP, but that was last year so rules may have changed)

Just be warned that sometimes instead of splitting the side dish, you might both end up with a full order of it. That happened to us when we split a burger somewhere that came with fries. Neither one of us really wanted fries but a split order would be fine. We ended up with a half burger and a full order of fries each!

And once my son ordered the cheese soup at LeCellier and I asked for three spoons so we could all try it. We all got bowls of the soup and were only charged for one!

I often spilt meals with my sister. If you let your server know they will spilt it in the kitchen. I agree with the poster about the sides, you may end up with more than you want. Don't feel bad about not "cleaning your plate" (insert Mom here), Disney uses the leftovers to feed pigs. Oink!
