Sharing Dining Plan?

I haven't figured out if this would even save us money, but can you share the dining plan? We have 6 people going in November, my mom, and my family of 5. We are booking 2 separate rooms and will probably do one in our name, and one in my mom's. If we booked the dining plan for the people in one of the rooms, could we pool the meals? We've always found that the dining plan is too much food, especially the snacks, but if we could share and then supplement what we need by paying out-of-pocket, it might save us money. I know counter service would probably not matter, but say we use our credits for Hoop-Dee-Doo, would one person be able to apply credits for all of us?

We have 4 Disney adults (DD is 13) and 2 kids and can arrange people in whatever room would work best.

You can. The caveat is that if you're not planning on being together for all meals/snacks, only those people in the room for which the DDP was purchased will be able pay using dining credits. In other words, someone in the room not on the plan can't go to somewhere and order a snack and charge it to the dining plan from the other room. Hope this makes sense.
