What luck are people currently having splitting credits on the dining plan? I'll be at WDW in mid January and am hoping to split a couple of the meals with my 18yo DD. Spoodles is one place that I was thinking of since I know that we'd waste 1/2 the food if we are each getting an appetizer, entree, and dessert.

Just wondering how the restaurants are currently handling this since I've heard that they are going to stop letting people share the credits as freely as they were allowing. Of course that could all change in the next 6 weeks...

I have never personally done this, but I asked a similar question recently and people seemed to say that it is not a problem, as long as it isn't a buffet or character meal.

I hope this continues to be true since I don't want to waste the food at a couple restaurants that I would end up wasting if we both have to use our credits. When my DH and I ate at Spoodles we shared 2 appetizers and one entree and could not finish everything, so if my DD and I end up ordering 1 more entree and desserts it will be WAY too much food.

I know what you mean. I have 2 girls 13 & 10 y.o. who eat like birds. But, now they are "adults" at Disney and will be paying for adult meals. There is NO WAY they could even finish a full appetizer, entree, dessert meal even if they SHARED!! I was planning on skipping the meal plan, but then we would miss out on the character meals and such. I am currently trying to figure out the price difference/meal quality difference if we do dining plan vs. pay OOP. I am going to assume we could share a couple meals (not the character ones).

I'm hoping that they would be extra willing to let your girls share the meal credits, being kids. Also, you'll be there with your family so it's not as if the tab on that meal won't be high even with sharing. With my DD and myself it would only be the 2 of us. I know that I would tip extra if they allow us to share the credit, not to mention tip on an extra drink, etc.

havent' personally put this to the test but before people were sharing kids and adults credits, not just sharing meals . ( ie family of 4, 4 meal credits, and they shared a meal for the kids using 3 credits total for meal( or paid out of pocket to kids meals) and then later used the extra kid's credit(s) for an adult meal at a 2c ts place).

pooling of kids and adults credits was what i heard was stopping, family of 4 now getting 2 adult and 2 kid credits per meal. so you could probably still order 1 meal, split it between 2 adults as in your case, and not have any problem using 1 tsc for it since you only got one meal.

I'll check this out when we go for Xmas. We have some buffets planned, as well as the Candlelight Porcessional, where we will use all 5 credits.....we also have some restaurants planned for sharing. Since I have two "adult" kids and 1 "child" child, I'm curious what we'll be told.

I had originally planned to use the plan and order 1 adult meal and 1 kids meal for all three kids to share.........but I may ask about paying OOP for youngest, just for the info. This is at Alfredos and Whispering Canyon.

I also wanted to pay for kids meals at Le Cellier and 50's Prime Time, and just not use credits, for my two older kids, since I don't think they'll like the adult menu. I hate to use an adult credit for a $5 meal!!

Ironically, even though I'm not a big buffet person, we have 4 planned. I like Bomas, oldest ds requested Biergarten, dd requested 1900 Park Fare, and we're eating at Chef Mickey's for dh (to meet mickey Mouse) Since we have such a long trip, I tried to let everyone choose one place we had to eat.

Anyway, I'll report back in late December

Julia M, Yeah, one issue with the plan is having a preteen on the adult dining plan and then having the adult menu appeal to them. If I were bringing my 12yo son I would not get the plan for that reason. He'd only order from the kids menu and no way would I want to be using an adult credit for that.

jann1033, I can sure understand Disney closing that loophole of the pooled kid/adult credits. I'm only wanting to share a meal, something that they allow off the dining plan. And I'm not planning on doing it for many meals, only a couple.

That is incorrect. Every single person who has posted on these boards (and others) after using the dining plan in the last few weeks has stated that there is no such things as a "kid" credit, and they were allowed to use their TS credits as they sought fit, as is stated clearly on the dining plan documents. However, you will not be able to share TS credits at buffets or family style restaurants. But this has been the policy since the get-go. So if you aren't going to a buffet or a family style restaurant, share away! :teeth:

I have heard that they are going to stop the pooled credits, but haven't paid much attention to whether or not it's really happened since it doesn't affect me. Only one of my kids would be considered a child on the plan and he's not going with me this time.
