Sharing an ADR with friends

We have a trip planned in a few months and it will overlap with friends. We'd like to share a few meals with them while there. My friend arrives a few days before us, so she plans on making the ADRs when her window opens for the meals we will have together. However, her father in law is in poor health and if he takes a bad turn right before or during their trip, they will obviously have to cancel. If my family still wants to use the ADRs that she made, will we be able to or will the ADR be cancelled when she cancels her trip. I was thinking the ADR system and hotel reservation system were separate, but I wanted to make sure. If it's going to be a problem, we will wait until our window opens and put the ADR in my name instead of hers.

The reservation will still be there, even if she cancels her stay. You are correct with them being separate systems. But she might not want it to be in her name as you do have to put in a credit card number, and she would be charged if no one showed up. If you are connected in MDE as Family & Friends, she could put the reservation in your name as the lead guest. That way, you'd have control of it and could also cancel/modify it if she's not there to join you. But again, her credit card info will be tied to it, unless that's something you want to share with her or she's comfortable with that scenario!
