Sharing AKL room part of week?

Has anybody done this?

I have 9 nights booked at AKL coming up. My husband is coming for the first 4 nights, then heading home. After he leaves I hope to have my cousin join me for a few nights in the same room.

When I booked they didn't seem to care whose name besides mine was on the reservation. Neither do I, except:

1) What if my cousin and I decide to do the Wayanama Safari? If her name is not on the room, is she eligible to book it?

2) Magical Express: I am renting a car for the whole trip, but I would like my husband to take Magical Express back to the airport when he leaves midweek. Also, I would like to have Magical Express get my cousin to the World. (I don't want to waste park time with airport runs, lol.) Can I book this for them?

I asked when I made the ressie, but I don't think the CM understood the issues. He was just like, "one or two people, same price for room." I am guessing I can just take care of the names at the front desk in real time, but was wondering if anyone has done this and if it went smoothly. Thanks.

None of this is that difficult, but it must be taken care of at the resort. First have your husband's name on the reservation before you arrive. AFTER you have arrived and checked in, call DME to arrange Outbound transportaion for you husband. They will need his flight number and other info. Then they will make a reservation for him to be picked up and taken to the airport.

Next on the morning that he leaves, go to the Front Desk yourself. Ask that he be taken out of the room (in the computer) and then your cousin added in to the reservation. You will receive a key in her name at that time. When your cousin arrives at the airport, she can go to the DME desk to arrange transport to the resort. Her name MUST be in computer in the reservation for them to bring her to the hotel, so you must change it that morning.

I would ask about this over on the Transportation board because I'm pretty sure that your cousin would not be able to walk up the DME counter at the airport and arrange transportation to the hotel; as far as I know it has to be arranged ahead of time.

This happens on a regular basis. The airport DME people just call the resort to see if the correct name is on the reservation .

I've heard time and time and time again that if you don't have ME arranged prior to your arrival at the airport, they will direct you to the regular Mears shuttle desk and you will have to pay. In the end, they may even put you on the Magical Express bus but it won't be free.

From every report I have ever seen on the Transportation board, the folks there say ME has to be arranged in advance. It's no problem to do that - the resort will do it if you ask when you (OP) are adding your cousin to the room reservation.

I agree with Vicki C. DME must be arranged before arrival. Transportation board sticky will have the exact info, but I think it has to be more than 72 hours in advance. OP, arrange both your husband's departure ME and your cousin's name on the reservation and return DME on the day that you arrive at your resort, but after you have checked in. Your cousin will not get DME tags before she leaves, so she will have to go to the DME counter before boarding the bus. And she can either get her own bags and bring them to the bus herself, or give her luggage tags to DME and have them collect her luggage later.

By arranging these details after checkin, your cousin would not have to have the exact same package as you (if you even have a package), plus she will have her own KTTW card, is eligible for DME both ways, and can go on the Safari with you.
