Sharing a QSDP: Is it doable? Is it wrong?

Any thoughts on buying one (or two) quick service dining plan for family members to split? Is it allowed?

We don't need two snacks a day per person, but two a day total to use here or there wounld be nice. Also, when eating counter service, sometimes you go for the more expensive item and sometimes you don't. If you have only one QSDP, you pay for the most expensive item with the plan.

I'm not saying split the meal twice a day - everyone would get a meal, but only one (the expensive one) is applied to the plan.

Not sure I'm understanding your question for sure -- if you're asking can you buy quick service dining plan for just one or two members of the family -- no, you can't do that. Everyone in the room on the reservations has to have the same dining plan. So for example, if there's 4 in your family staying in the room you have to get 4 on the dining plan or none. The only ones who don't pay for the plan are kids under 3.

If you're saying you'll all have the dining plan, but is it o.k. to just use a couple credits at a time - using the example of 4 of you, then you could share 2 breakfast counter service, then share 2 lunch counter service, Yes that is allowed.

And there are quite a few quick service combos/platters that may be large enough for splitting, but it will depend on what kind of appetites your group has. For example, the BBQ ribs platter or the Rotisserie chicken platter at Flametree BBQ in Animal Kingdom was definitely large enough to split. But a hot dog & chips is not going to be a splitter, and the Pizza meal at Pizza Planet/DHS was not big enough for 2 (it's a small personal pizza - very definitely not a large serving, and small side salad. Was enough to fill up one adult, but unless you have 2 people with very small appetites it was not enough for two people.) So you'll have to pick & choose carefully to go for the meals that are large to split.

The pp is absolutely correct, in that you must buy the package for all or for nobody on your reservation. It is not possible to buy one or two packages and 'spread' the credits for use by three or four people.

The last line of your op is what I think is a little confusing - if you are planning on ordering meals for each person anyway, then does it not make sense to book the plan for everyone to begin with?

If you are worried about having too many snack credits, I can attest to how easy it is to spend them on chocolate bars or similar things to take home as gifts (I once spent 12 credits in the resort gift shop on our way to board the ME back to the airport  ).
