Shared meals?

Without the dining plan, I’m wondering if shared meals are an option for adults. Like LeCellier. If we both get the soup, we share a salad and then share a filet and a side…still rather expensive…is that allowed?
Or a SciFi…share an app, a burger and a dessert?
Just wondering if this is even allowed?

@DopeyRN we've done it on our last trip, these were usually larger meals like at Teppan Edo. We did tip based on us ordering two complete meals, only seems fair for the CMs.

At any of the buffet type restaurants you also can't 'share' if the intent is to avoid paying for someone. Everyone considered an adult pays the cost of the meal. This avoids having 4 adults show up and only 1 wanting to pay to eat. Clearly, at a buffet you can't do that.

You can share at any TS/CS which does not involve the following - pre fixe, AYCE (either in individual or family form), family style, or buffet. But, for restaurants which allow individual course ordering of a limited size (ie - no free refills of the course), you may share at will.

Seems to me sharing an app, a burger, and a dessert at a place like Sci-Fi is a good way to get Disney to add it to the prix-fixe list. Maybe they have a cupcake on the menu everyone in the party can split. I know it's allowed...but it was also allowed at BOG and CG as well.

I'm not trying to go after the OP specifically, but it seems the amount of threads of "how can I eat at XXXX to experience the atmosphere but pay 50% of a normal table price" has increased exponentially.

For many, it's likely b/c prices have done the same, and Disney fans are trying to hold on to the ability to have the vacation they want to have any way they can possibly afford it...

I mean, before, it was just small eaters who would have these questions...so, you'd have fewer questions...

Just so OP knows, Sci fi's portions aren't as large as a lot of Disney restaurants. My daughters and I usually share meals, but at Sci fi, we shared apps, but got our own entrees and milkshakes and shared two desserts and there wasn't much left on our plates

As long as it’s not prix fix you are good! My mom and I do it all the time (and we should have done it at Le cellier because those steaks, while excellent, are HUGE)

If you don't eat huge meals, a lot of the meals are just too large. I shared a Cobb Salad with my son's SO on our last trip and we all shared a cheese board at HBD. Now my son also had a burger and both of them had margarita flights and I had a glass of wine. We left a larger than normal tip since we weren't sharing to save money but because it was just too much food. You really don't know why people are sharing. I agree that some people did abuse it and that is most likely why BOG went to one price but it's not always the case.

we share an app an entree at many places and its fine! Saves room for a snack elsewhere .

I can't help but wonder if this is why Disney seems to be going to more prix fixe menus.

When DH and I have shared, they always split the entrees for us in the kitchen, and bring it to us on 2 plates, like it's 2 meals.

Some of the places around here went to a prix fixe as its a way to manage inventory. Smaller menu but more courses for everyone to have. The supply chain is a mess, and it's much easier to manage a smaller menu than half the items be unavailable.

I see what your saying but on our 2019 trip hubby and I went to Beaches and Cream for the first time ever and our server actually asked if we wanted to split a burger and fries so we had room for the ice cream. He even told us he would split the burger and fries on separate plates before bringing it out. He told us a lot of people do that knowing they are ordering ice cream after their meal. We took him up on his offer because we both had planned to get dessert and wanted to save room for it. Just throwing this out there so people know that the servers are great about accommodating those who split meals. I appreciate this because I am not a big eater (although I am pooh sized so you'd never be able to tell that by looking at me) and can very seldom eat a whole meal myself so hubby usually eats half of mine too.
