Ollie and Rebel:

Ollie is the larger, black dog. He came from a shelter. My BF's kids adopted him when he was 3 months old. A few months later they moved and couldn't keep him, so my BF took him. He's half lab/half greyhound and has such a sweet temperament. So we got him a puppy! (Rebel) the brindle one. This pic is old; rebel is full grown now. He came from a litter of puppies that were raised by a mother/daughter because their lab had the litter; then drowned when the pups were a week old. He was the only one colored like this. He's very sweet and very sensitive. If you scold him, he runs and puts his head in the corner.

We love them both and couldn't live without them. So, we are thinking of getting them a kitten!

4 of my last 5 dogs came from shelters. The last 3 were not puppies but older dogs. My Mindy was with us for 14 years, she had to be put to sleep last year at age 15. Still miss her. Danny we got from ARF in East Hampton. He was about 3 when we got him and he is 16 now. Kallie we got last year, she was 3 and we got her from a no kill shelter in Ct. I found it online from petfinders.org. When went to Ct. from LI because we could not find a smaller dog on LI and since my other dog was a chi/mix we wanted someone along the same size. Shelter dogs are the best and they need our love the most.

Thanks everyone for the replies, we are currently looking at a puppy on petfinder that is being fostered in TN, we are in CT. She actually may be too big for us because she is part collie, part great pyreneese(sp?).

Thats why I really would like to meet them before we adopt, maybe I should try to stay local

Ohh and the pix of all your furbabies are so cute!!!

ABSOLUTELY!! And don't be afraid of older or adult dogs. They can be just as rewarding (if not more so) as puppies. Imagine how their world has been suddenly turned upside down!
