I just posted this on the Family Board, but I figured I'd see what you guys have to say too - I just know you'll come up with some great ones!!!!!

Someone had posted something like this on the Community Board, so I'm kinda stealing it and putting it here! So what are your best home-made, cheap halloween decoration ideas - inside and out? Heres mine that I got from the Martha Stewart show:

OK, heres mine for a great spider - get a round styrophome ball and spray paint it black all over (or get a few in different sizes). Then get either 4 or 8 glow in the dark necklaces or bracelets (depending if you get 4 or 8) and stick them in - it becomes a glow in the dark spider!!!! Then hang it where ever you want - great idea, huh??? I also cut out bats from that thick foamy paper, strung them together, and hung them over my door, really cute.

So whats your great home-made halloween idea???

Easy Tombstones...

Old Pizza boxes, can of gray spray paint, black marker, some dowels.

Take the old pizza boxes and spray paint them gray. Use a black marker to create the name and art work on the "stone". Cut dowels into 8 inch pieces, and duct tape to the back of the pizza box. Insert dowel into the ground and viola, you have a cemetery in your yard!

Just be sure that there are no hurricanes approaching..........otherwise your tombstones might become your neighbors'. :scared1:

wouldn't the spider legs just dangle? I expected you to say you used chenille pipe cleaners or something for the legs.

Our Halloween decorations consist of carved jack o' lanterns!

Our neighbors on the other hand, they go all out with Vampires, bats, ghouls, caskets... you name it they have it! Even spooky music! :worship:

we have made the string of bats, using construction paper, black puff for the head, and googly eyes. put them all on a string.
we collect acorns from the yard and painted them orange, then use a fine tip sharpie and make jacko lantern faces on them.

and then the regular big real jack o lanterns.
most of my other halloween decor is the light up stuff you find at Target :)

i think we will try the glow in the dark spider, but i think i will do something else for the legs, since the glow sticks only glow for a day. maybe glow in the dark paint?

PLUS, you have to eat all those pizzas! It's a win-win situation! :woohoo:

Kitty Litter Cake:

Bake 2 cakes, one chocolate and one white cake.

Overturn chocolate cake into a NEW, CLEAN kitty litter pan (plastic one is best).

Crumble the white cake into small chunks. Sprinkle over the chocolate cake.

Unwrap several tootsie rolls. Roll them between your hands until they are long and lumpy shaped. Place partially-buried in cake crumbs, across the top, or over the sides of the pan.

Use a NEW, Clean litter scooper to serve!

I was Prince Phillp about 7 years ago. I found matching clothes at normal clothes stores.

It was pretty easy to make

Brian

Rut Row!

Dont Let "I love Evil Queen" know about this! :scared1:

Holy Batman!

Can we add "What was your best Halloween costume" to this thread....

The tootsie rolls really give it that something extra.

Get some cheesecloth, an old bed sheet, or whatever you have lying around. Go crazy spraying it with tea, coffee, and other dark beverages. Let it dry. Repeat if necessary. Add rips, burns, holes, and whatever you feel necessary to add to the effect. Will make great bandages/shroud for a mummy, or just for a creepy window decoration.
