Looking to make a nice baked ziti this weekend. well maybe. So tell me just how you make your's! :goodvibes

If I'm really lazy, I'll use jarred sauce, but I usually make my own. I cook the ziti noodles until al dente and mix them with ricotta, parmasean and the sauce. I make two layers because I like it extra cheesy. I put the mozzeralla in between and on top. Bake for 35 minutes until bubbly and yummy.

I don't have one, but sure would like to try to make one. It's great to see you on again, Kitty. We are still praying that each day finds you stronger and stronger.

:goodvibes Hi Kitty, I put ziti with my homemade sauce and throw in
some pepperoni and mozzerela (sp) cheese and bake. With parm cheese
on the top. Yum. :stir:

We really really like the Knorr Parma Rosa sauce packet (it's a powder that is mixed with milk). I add chicken or meatballs (or neither) and onions or peppers. We top it off with parmesan or mozzarella.

That's what I do! Save extra sauce to put over the top when serving!

INGREDIENTS:
1 pound dry ziti pasta
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion, sliced
1 teaspoon minced fresh rosemary
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 pound ground pork sausage
1 1/2 (26 ounce) jars spaghetti sauce
salt to taste
1 (6 ounce) package provolone cheese, sliced
3/4 cup sour cream
3/4 cup cottage cheese
1 (6 ounce) package mozzarella cheese, shredded
2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS:
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook pasta in boiling water for 8 to 10 minutes, or until al dente; drain.
Meanwhile, heat olive oil in large, heavy skillet over medium heat. Cook onion in oil until tender. Stir in rosemary and garlic. Transfer to a small bowl.
Place ground beef and sausage in the skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until evenly brown. Stir in the onion mixture and the spaghetti sauce. Season with salt. Reduce heat to low, and simmer for 10 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. In the prepared dish, layer 1/2 of the cooked pasta, provolone cheese, sour cream, cottage cheese, and a little less than 1/2 of the meat mixture. Then layer the rest of the pasta, mozzarella cheese, remaining meat mixture, and Parmesan cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 30 minutes, or until heated through and cheeses are melted.

Same here..it really is the easiest thing ever to make. There's no right or wrong way to make it. Just make sure you have ziti, ricotta, mozarella, parmesan and sauce in there and how you put it together doesn't really matter.
I have a friend who mixes the mozzarella in with the ziti and ricotta and sauce and then just tops it with extra mozzarella and it still tastes the same.

Enjoy..and thanks for the idea, I'll make this tomorrow. :)

I'm another 'the more cheese the better' type, although dairy and I don't usually get along too well. I mix mozzerella in with the ricotta also. I also fry minced onions, garlic, and green peppers along with some ground beef and pork. Mix it all up and don't skimp on the sauce. Mozzerella and parmesan on top. Darn it, now I'm hungry!

I have an awesome baked ziti recipe. Everyone who tries it loves it and asks for more. It is very fattening so it's not for dinner everyday although I could eat it everyday. I serve it with a salad and garlic cheddar biscuits. If anyone wants the recipe just send me a PM and I will dig it out for you. It's buried in my kitchen drawer right now.

I take an onion and garlic brown in pan with oil. Then add about 2 pounds ground sirlion cook till brown. Take two cans of tomato sauce add to mixture. Add salt, pepper and 1tbs of sugar. Cook till boils about half hour. Cook ziti noodles. Pour some sauce on bottom of pan. Then add the first layer of ziti noodles. Spoon more sauce over noodles and add mozzerella cheese. Repeat for top layer. Cook for 30 minutes. Comes out great every time I make it. I serve with salad and garlic bread.

Here is a nice easy one I found on www.cooks.com

BAKED ZITI

1 lg. jar spaghetti sauce
8 oz. pkg. mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 lb. ziti
1 lb. hamburger

Heat spaghetti sauce in pan. Add mozzarella to sauce until melted. Reserve enough cheese to sprinkle over top of casserole. Cook hamburger in frying pan. Cook ziti according to package mix; add cooked ziti in pan of sauce and cheese. Pour into baking dish with hamburger.
Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.

Cook at 350 degrees until cheese is melted.
