Okay, bear with me while I rant here....me and my DF decided to share part of our Honeymoon w/DS 15 & DS 18. We are getting married in Orlando and wanted to do the parks with the boys for two days, before we ship them home for the rest of our honeymoon.

This is the problem....I called Portofino Bay Resort to make reservations, and they won't let my 18 and 15 year old sons have a room of their own, because they aren't "adults". Uh, so they are telling me that my 18 year old, who is graduated from high school, and can join the military, can't have his own room?! :sad2: I explained it would be for only one night, it's our HONEYMOON, we'd be on site with them, but they said no. I know there are ways around this, like booking one room in my name, and the other in my DFs name, but it's horrible that we would have to stoop to lying.

I can understand if it was a bunch of teens looking to party with no supervision, but this is ridiculous!

Can you possibly book at suite? That way the boys are in one room and you are in another. Or you can book it like you said. Book both rooms in your and DF name and ask for adjoining rooms. That way you guys are still together but in separate rooms. I would venture to say that a suite would be cheaper and still give you privacy.

I think the rule for 18 years old, is so that a teen can not book a room at the Hard Rock and have a party and cause disruption. I can totally understand that. Happy Honeymoon...your boys will LOVE Universal.

I believe you cannot put a room under a name of anyone who is less than 21 years of age. You will have to put the room in an adult's name because they are responsible for whatever damage may occur in that room. They don't care who sleeps there -- you aren't agreeing to any sleeping arrangements so don't worry that you are deceiving them, they just want an adult's signature for contract reasons. It is like this in many hotels in Orlando. It is quite difficult for anyone under 21 to book a hotel room. I think you used to be able to do it at Disney, you might still be able to.

Thank you for the suggestion. I had thought of going with a suite, but there's still an intimacy factor that wouldn't be there for the first night of marriage....same with adjoining rooms.

Thanks, makes me feel better about booking in both names! I know they are good boys, and won't cause any damage. They are thrilled just to be able to come along for the short stint and celebrate with us. :woohoo:

I was going to suggest the same thing. You and one boy registered in one room and your new husband and the other boy in the second room. Portofino doesn't care who sleeps where.

Have fun!
