Shape up before you sail!

You could hire a professional organizer and you don't have to watch him or her throw it all out.

Hire a professional? Ha! My family would gladly do the same for FREE. Haha.

I would wake up an hour early every day to get your work out done. Don't do anything else until you get that done... Also, get rid of all those snacks and fill up on good meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Don't eat past 8PM. Good luck...

Yeah, I always have every intention of working out before I go to work, but very rarely does it actually happen. I am always up so late going through papers, I just never seem to get enough sleep.

We actually don't have too many terrible snacks, and during the day I eat pretty well. All we really keep around is low cal, sugar free, bite size things, in addition to healthy alternatives as well. The problem is, I eat so well, count every calorie during the day, then after supper, I just go nuts, I dunno what it is. Instead of having two 3 musketeer fin size bars, I have ten.

I just need to get back on track.

Man, I need a friendly kick in the butt from all you cruisers out there.

Let me explain my situation: I am overwhelmed with tasks to complete, and it is really hurting my weight loss situation.

For a long time, losing weight was my main focus, #1 priority, and I was doing really well. Now, weight loss is still the most important thing to me, but I have so much stuff to do, it sometimes plays second (or third or fourth) fiddle.

I work 9-10 hours a day, including my 30 minute lunch, during which I try to get the standard daily activities I can done. By the time I get home, I have roughly 4-5 hours........to eat, work out, shower, AND do a ton of other stuff that I have on my To Do List.

a) Go through THREE years worth of newspapers. That's right, three.

b) Go through my TWO years worth of magazines. I usually GET two or three magazines each week, so I am almost fighting a losing battle there.

c) Trying to whittle down my email. I do this at work when I can, and home, again, when I can. I have 8,700 emails to go through, most forwards, but you never know when you will miss something important. The problem is, like the magazines, for every 500 old ones I delete, I get 500 new ones.

d) Organize my music library for my mp3 player. This one is actually cruise related, as I want to make sure my mp3 player is locked and loaded for relaxing on the cruise. I have 1,500 songs to organize, I've been through 200 or so, but still, it is a time consuming process.

The whole thing has me stressed out and exhausted. So, I don't get to work out as often, or as intense as I am used to. It is a double whammy, because, like many of you, I am sure, stress+exhaustion equals gorging on unhealthy foods, for me, mostly sweets.

So, I am not working out as much, AND my food intake is much worse. It is a miracle in itself that I am able to somewhat maintain.

Give me inspiration, people!

I'm not a cruiser but your post caught my eye. Are you spending time on the things that you love? Would any of those things on your to do list really make you happier? Help you with your weight loss or other life goals? If not, rethink whether they need to be done. If you missed something important in any of the papers, magazines or emails, its too late now. Get rid of them all, reevaluate what really matters to you and spend the bulk of your efforts on things that will bring you joy. Good luck!

Reading this thread is really inspiring! More so than I expected it to be. It's good to know that I am not the only one struggling. Although I wish no one was!

I have a hard time sticking to my workout routine. When I first started it I did it for 3 weeks and really noticed a difference. Then I stopped and started again for about 1 week and now it has been two months since I have done anything and I am back where I started. I want it to be a lifestyle change but it is not working out that way. I started again today and I am going to try to stick with it this time.

Wish me luck!:thumbsup2

Good luck!!!!

I know how you feel. I started going to 24 Hour Fitness in April with a goal to lose 15 pounds. I went about 4 days a week for about 6 weeks and only lost 6 pounds. I wasn't great w/my diet and I think that is why I lost so little. Then a 10 day road trip and I put most of it back on. Got some of it off again during the next few weeks but then went out of town again for a week. Gained 5 pounds and back where I started. Well, less than 3 weeks ago, I started going again but I AM NOT stopping this time. I've lost 7 pounds in those 19 days by busting my behind each day in the gym and eating great. I've only not worked out once in those 19 days. I've made a routine out of it. I am determined to keep it up and the weight off. I'm still about 8 pounds from my original goal but now I've upped by goal an additional 5 pounds. I truly believe I can do it. I feel better, my clothes fit better, and I can see it.

As an added benefit, I was able to meet Shaquille O'Neal at the gym. I've been a huge basketball fan for years and if I hadn't joined the gym, I never would have met him :goodvibes Didn't really get to talk to him much, but did get my picture taken.

Good for you!! and what a great reward meeting Shaquille O'Neal!!! He is great!

I wonder how long I need to workout before it becomes a routine? I am pretty motivated now because it is crunch time. My cruise is a little over one month away!!! I have learned that I am more inclined to workout if I do it in the morning. Later on it seems that there are to many choices of other things to do. I am going to do my workout as soon as I finish this.

Thanks for your inspiration! :)
