I woke up this morning to a nice surprise...Chad arranged for us to stay an extra night !! We still plan on being home on Sunday night, we will just have to do a lot more driving !! In the meantime..we had a whole day to enjoy.
We spent the morning playing catch and frisbee and taking Finnegan for a walk. The girls rented a canoe and then a kayak. They did really well working together...I'm amazed they didn't tip over !! We also tried to play some tennis but it didn't go well. We had no clue what we were doing, lol.
We went to Trail's End for lunch and Ken waited on us. What a nice guy and an awesome waiter. I told him that my friends online had recommended him and he said that made his whole day. We walked over to the stables and petting farm after that, but there really isn't much there. The kids were a little disappointed.
Then we came back to the site and Chad and Katie took naps while Cassie and Jack hunted lizards. They came close a few times, but never actually caught one. Those little suckers are fast. Next we took the kids to the Meadows pool. It was really crowded today because it was soooo nice out. Mid 80's and bright, blue sky. The kids swam for about an hour before a game of dodgeball started up on the tennis courts. 2 of the kids wanted to play, so Chad and I went over to watch them...and Chad ended up playing too. In fact, he outlasted the kids. They went back to the pool and he stayed and played until the end. At one point there were more grown men playing than kids, lol. Oh and I did get to see an airplane make a smiley face in the sky...that was cool.
After another hour or so we came back to the site and changed for dinner. We went back to Whispering Canyon over at the Lodge. Another great meal. They also have a decent little arcade and gift shop. We got back to the fort about 8:30 and all three kids wanted to watch the movie tonight (Herbie Fully Loaded).
We dropped them off with some snack money and figured they are old enough to behave themselves (13,10.5,6). We also had our cell phones. Chad and I drove around the fort for awhile just taking it all in and enjoying a little alone time. We went down to the beach and snuggled in a lounger and watched the light parade and the fireworks. We got back to the meadows just as the movie was letting out. The kids really enjoyed it and they all got along well and listened well to my oldest daughter.
We got the kids showered, the motorhome mostly packed up and ready for an early start. We have a long way to drive back home this weekend. When dropped off the golf cart this evening, I didn't want to put the keys into the drop box. I dragged my feet back across the bridge and very reluctantly got into the minivan and came back to the site. I don't want to leave !!
Thank you all who enjoyed and commented on my daily posts. I have really enjoyed reading about other people's experiences over the last 4 months and I found them all very helpful. Hopefully I was able to do the same for someone else.
