After reading this thread, I'm craving one. I have an appointment this afternoon that's going to make me late for work anyway, so I started looking (calling) around to see if they're available. First I called the store near work - yes. Then I went looking for a location closer to my appointment, 'knowing' I'd seen a McDonald's around there somewhere. Pulled up the map, zeroed in... it's across the street! I'm having a Shamrock Shake, I'm having a Shamrock Shake... in fairness, it'll be my first one in maybe fifteen years?

That's less ingredients than i read on a soda can. Not something worth every day consumption but for every once in awhile no big deal at all.

When did McDonald's start making their cups so large? I went last night to get my Shamrock Shake ordered a medium and it was huge!!!

I drank about an inch of it out of the cup and had to give the rest to my DH. He drank it for me.

Way too long ago...

This is a pet peeve of mine (slightly - sorry, I must vent). The small is what a medium used to be; the medium is what a large used to be and the large is something enormous that there never was before.

I can never order the Value Meals because they come with a medium drink and fry which is actually what a large used to be. I only order the fry and drink off the Dollar Menu because they're actually a small.

I haven't had one in years, because I can never find a McDonald's that has them. I asked a manager about it a few years ago, and he told me that McDonald's required the individual franchises to purchase a large amount of the mint flavoring...much more than they would need for the period of the promotion...so many of them were declining to participate, rather than throw away $$ on unused flavorings.

I guess the flavoring would not keep from year to year. The was the inference I got from him, anyway. Whether or not that's true, who's to say.

All I know is that I now know of two McDonald's in my general vicinity that carry the shakes, so that's where I'll be heading in the very near future!
