Shampoo question

I have noticed on these boards that there are shampoo dispensers at the All-Star resorts and not bottles, but my real question is what kind of shampoo? Is it tear free kind of shampoo (like baby shampoo)?

I am trying to decide if I need to bring my own tear free shampoo for the kids.

Thanks

I don't like those dispensers. The labels are all gone and I can't tell which one is shampoo, conditioner or body soap.

I don't bother using any of it out of fear I may wash my hair with body soap and condition my body silky smooth. LOL

I always bring my own and I am an adult. I would definetly bring the shampoo that is tear free for the kids :D

Bring your own for yourself and you kids...whenever I try to use something other than what I'm used to especially with different water types..my straight fine hair becomes a matted nightmare....I always pack lots of conditioner/conditioning rinse and I usually bring spray-in leave in conditioner and a wide toothed comb to make combing and brushing less painful and less damaging. I pack my own body wash and buy cheap scrubbies at walmart so we can just throw them away before we leave. I have one of those QVC freedom bags and have been known to pack it heavier than 20 pounds..with 3 different shampoos, conditioners body wash, etc...

Stupid question here, but are the dispensers able to be opened by guest, or can only the housekeeping access them to refill.

My sister is staying at ASMov and was wondering whether former guests could put not so nice stuff into the dispensers.

Eww. She was concerned, so I thought I'd ask.

We usually stayed at POR-they had the individual bottles-with Mickey's picture--is this not the same for POP?

We stayed at Music last Dec and the whole dispenser didn't even work!! Couldn't get anything out of it! But, we had our own shampoo with us.

At POR, they do have the cute little individual bottles. The values do not have them.

I also wondered how they can moniter what exactly is in the dispensers. I'm pretty sure no one would put something yucky in, but you just can't be too sure in this wacky day and age.

Pop Century does not have the dispensers. Apparently, this was a pretty sizeable guest issue, so they evaluated it, and decided to have regular toiletries.

Phew, thank goodness POP doesn't have dispensers. That seems kinda cheapo to me...not very Disney-like, even for a 'value' resort.:earsboy: :earsboy:

I never thought of that--that someone could put something gross in the shampoo dispensers. However, I won't use ketchup or mustard bottles in restaurants for that reason. I stock up on ketchup and mustard packs from McDonald's for my kids. I also carry wash-and-dri towelettes to wipe off toilet seats. I also teach my kids never to use the next portion of toilet paper from the roll in public restrooms. Pull off about 8-10 sheets worth to get a cleaner part underneath. And I carry that hand sanitizer that doesn't need rinsing. And I always carry Clorox toilet wipes and go over the toilet upon first entering a hotel room. Remember the old days, when toilets seats in hotels had those bands of paper around them so you knew no one had used them since the last cleaning? Oh, and I wash out the glasses in the room before using them unless they have the plastic coverings. Other than that, I'm just your basic slob...

hyzdufan... were you at WDW the week of Jan 18? You look exactly like the sweet guy who sat next to me on the bus to AKL one night.

While I am in fact a sweet guy, I regret to inform you that I was there the week of Jan 31 - Feb 6. Glad to know I have a look-a-like out there boosting my reputation. :earsboy: :earsboy:

I also do not like using them just because they are accessible to the guests. When we check in and get to our room at All Stars, we would call and have housekeeping come and thouroughly clean and replace the shampoo and body wash with brand new pouches. Once my son was sleeping so I told them I would do it and it was very easy to open and put in. Once they just brought us bottles of shampoo, and they do give you bar soap anyways.

But the reason I like to have the dispenser filled with fresh, is because (and I am probably the minority on this) I actually like the stuff they have in it. I like the smell and how it works. It is industrial stuff though.

Thanks so much for all of the responses.

I knew I could count on all of you. We are driving, so it is not that big of a deal to pack the shampoo for the adults and the kids. I too have fine, blonde hair and have my preferred stuff.

I do wish they had the individual stuff too. It is a fun way to remember your trip to bring home some of the little bottles and soaps. We have some from our trip to Hawaii, pretty flowers.

Counting the days....
