we are going nxt wk & i am now thinking shall i book any of our meals ahead? we are going half board, dont really know where we want to eat, just somewhere that takes the vouchers as full payment really!

can anyone advise please? we also thought of a character dining experience, read about Cafe Mickey ( v. expensive though) or Lucky Nugget???
have read all the restauarnt reviews regarding character dining but still confused.
mainly money worries dont want to come back broke:rotfl:

I always go to DLRP in low season, and if I know where I want to eat in advance, I always book my table in advance. It may not be necessary, but it just makes it easier (and it can make a difference at Cafe Mickey).

We always try to do at least one character meal at DLRP, it used to be the tea party, which I thought was brilliant value for money when it was at the Plaza Gardens. I haven't heard great things about it since it moved though, so thats out of the running for us.

I personally loved the Lucky Nugget - we went midweek, low season, 1pm booking. We were there for easily 1 and a half hours, plenty of food, and loads of characters (I was getting fed up standing to hug Goofy every time he came to our table  ).

I also like Cafe Mickey, and it doesn't have to be more expensive than the Lucky Nugget (you pay 45 euros for one adult and one child there, and that same price has covered our bill at Cafe Mickey for the same one adult and one child in our party).
The advantage of Cafe Mickey is that its open in the evenings too, so if you prefer to eat your main meal after the parks close, and you want a Character experience thats fun for all the family, its really got to be Cafe Mickey. It does get busy and chaotic there in the evenings, its a very popular restaurant.

thankyou for this, i think we may go for lunch on our last day at Cafe Mickey then, i thought if we ate quite late say around 3 pm then our train is 7.30 pm ish then we will be full!
got to persuade hubby 1st though!

Unfortunately, the characters aren't at Cafe Mickey between 2.45pm and 6.15pm each day. They are there for breakfast, then they are there between 12.15pm and 2.45pm, and then again from 6.15pm to 11pm.

where did you find these hours? this site says just that they are there at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Do you have to book that? or they just pass by?

I got the exact times from the official DLRP glossy travel agents brochure.

This is a table-service meal, so if you are going at a quiet time to DLRP, you could just walk in at lunchtime, but even at quiet times, I've booked in advance to go to Cafe Mickey for a meal in the evening.

The characters come round each table in the restaurant, and you can have photos and autographs with each one.

Its the same process in the Lucky Nugget, and used to be the same at the tea party at the Plaza Gardens (the tea party doesn't take place there anymore though).

Yes, you can do - at your hotel reception, or at City Hall on Main St Usa :)
