You have the best TR titles! I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw a picture of the mysterious Charles. He did look happy though...of course I would be too if I had an adult beverage in my hand and no children! I didn't know you were going to be there for your anniversary...very cool!

Thank you, Jill! I think this is my favorite TR title so far! Can you believe that Charles was actually around for pictures! I even have more than one! It's not our anniversary until the 14th, but it was close enough that we figured we would celebrate early!

Very excited to read what you thought of F&W! DF and I considering going down next year. I'm eager to drink my way around the World! :goodvibes

:welcome: Food and Wine was wonderful -- I want to go back next year -- without the kids again!

I look forward to hearing all about F&W.

Hi!!! Hope the flooding didn't affect you too much a few weeks ago!

Love the pictures of you and charles.

Hope you had a wonderful time and am looking forward to reading all about it.

Hi, Diamond! Thank you! We did have a wonderful time overall! It was nice to get away just the two of us! I hope you have as great a time with your DH as I did!

I'm here!!! :yay: Very much looking forward to the latest CP TR!

And, Charles only studied the F&W menus more than you prior to the trip because you already had them memorized, no? ;)

Hi, Brook! You know me too well -- of course, I already had the menus memorized, knew where they were located on the WS circuit, and knew what I wanted at each booth.

I almost didn't make the first page, had to substitute bowl in the school district's bowling league.....:laughing::confused:

Whew! Thank goodness I timed it right!

Bring it on! :woohoo:

Kathy

Hi, Kathy! I have a lot to bring! LOL!

I'm totally here! I hope to do WDW without the kiddos one of these days myself! Wow what would I do with myself!? :confused3 Never been to F & W either so I'm looking forward to this one!

Let me tell you, Tammy, it was so relaxing without the kids -- I was so spoiled by being able to do what I wanted, when I wanted. You must try Food and Wine sometime -- you would love it!

Yay, you started a new TR! I can't wait to read!

Hi, Megs!!! How are you? Are you going to do a PTR for your next trip? I need some more pics of your dad in those funny glasses!

Yay, I'm so glad you started!!! :yay:

Denise

:welcome: Denise!!!

I'm here as always! :surfweb:

Hi, Kristen!!! So glad you are here! Is school still crazy for you?

Whaaaaaat? I got done Dis'ing early last night and I wake up to find myself on the 3rd page? I give up!

LL is right....that picture of you is too stink'in cute! Now I expect this TR to keep me entertained until I go back in May! I know you can do it! I have complete faith!

Hi, Mary Ellen! Page 3 isn't so bad, and you're here now!

Thank you! I don't know if I can stretch out our short trip until May, but I will be starting my summer PTR after this one. I am excited about your May trip since you are staying at VWL!

Okay those are some great pictures of you guys!! I really can't wait to hear all about your tales from Food and Wine!!

I have to say though the one night I decided not to DIS because we go out with dinner with friends and I come home and go straight to bed...both you and C start your TRs and I make page 2 and 3 OMG LOL!!!! What's a girl to do!!!!!

Can't wait for more CP!!!!!

Hi, Jen!!! Thank you! I think I have more pictures of the two of us from this trip than I have from the past five trips combined -- I never realized what camera hogs my children were before! Just kidding! :lmao:

Can't wait to hear about the F&W! we'll be there in less than 30 days!

:welcome: You will love it! We had such a great time sampling food and drinks for essentially two straight days.

I'm looking forward to reading your report! My husband and I are going in January, and though we won't be there for a festival, food and wine is definitely something we plan to enjoy.

:welcome: Disney food is the absolute best!

:headache:

This is what happens when you start a TR in the evening...I don't find it until the morning and am banished to page 3

Hi, Katie!!! You aren't banished! You are here and that's what matters!

I'm here! I'm here! :yay:

And you're on page 3 already?! Wow, girl, you are popular! :thumbsup2 That's cause you right such great trip reports!! :goodvibes

Can't wait to read all about it!

Hi, Katie! You are too sweet! I am so glad everyone enjoys reading my TRs because I have so much fun writing them!

Whew! Made it over! Can't wait to get this train rolling!!!!!

Hi!!! It's going to be rolling on out soon! :thumbsup2

arrgh! Page 3?

but I'm here :)

and we even got a happy Charles picture in the intro! I love it.

Hi!!! I am so glad you are here! It's a bit of a surprise to actually see a photo of Charles after this past trip, isn't it?

WOOHOO! :dance3:

SO excited to:
1) See pics of food and drinks
2) Hear all about CBR!!
3) Hear how badly the kids whined when you left without them ;)

Looking forward to it!

Hi!!! I have lots of photos and stories about all three of those! :lmao:

Yay! Another trip report. Gotta love Charles's palmetto moon hat. My DH has about 5 of these in varying colors.

:welcome:

My original reply was going to be that I am from Charleston so I have to make sure Charles is clothed appropriately, but you already know that!

I've just finished reading your awesome June 2009 trippie, and am here jumping on board for this one too!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Thank you so much and :welcome:

I'm here. Several pages in but I finally made it!

Hi, Jill!!! Hope this week isn't tiring you out too much!

I can't wait to hear what you thought of CBR

Not to give anything away, but Charles absolutely loved CBR and I took lots of pics! You and D.Jay are going to enjoy your stay there!

Yay you started! Can't believe you are up to 4 pages in less than 24 hours! You are very popular! Can't wait to hear all about it.popcorn::

:welcome: I am so flattered by the turn-out!

I'm here, too!

PS. Love your hubby's hat :thumbsup2

:welcome: Gotta love the Carolina symbol! :thumbsup2

Hi Miss Jackie!

Hi, Miss Heidi! Have you readjusted to the real world yet? I so enjoyed meeting you, and my little duck has a place of honor on the fireplace mantle nestled among the Halloween decorations! :goodvibes

Oh boy! This sounds like fun. I'm looking forward to reading this TR!

Carissa :)

Hi, Carissa! This trip was a lot of fun so I am looking forward to writing all about it!

Your pic is fab! You look so relaxed; I sure hope Charles was better behaved for your very special adult trip! I look forward to reading about how the kids handled being left behind. popcorn::

Hi, Debby! Thank you so much! I was very relaxed in that picture! It was like night and day with Charles! I may even take him to Disney again soon! ;) Lots of stories about how the kids handled us being gone!

I read your June trip report and it was so much fun- I love your style of writing!

Looking forward to seeing all the yummy food and wine pictures and living vicariously through you!! :woohoo:

:welcome: Thank you so much! I love writing -- especially when it's about Disney! :goodvibes

A day late and already on page 4 :scared1: Can't wait to read along!

Hi, Mary!!! So glad you are here!

popcorn:: Yeah! I've got some catchin up to do!!!!

Hi, Lisa! Don't worry! I haven't written anything since the intro! You don't have much to catch up on! :lmao:

Whew! I finally made it. I'm here!

Hi, Crissy! I am so happy you made it!

Ok...an all-adult trip (which I AM taking in two...and probably a few more...years when I finish my masters) AND you're staying at CBR, which is what we have booked for June...I'm in! Can't wait!

:welcome: You definitely deserve an all-adult trip after finishing your Masters! I have lots to say about CBR! It's a lovely resort!

I cannot wait to read all about it and see if I show up in the background to any of your pictures ha ha!

How was Charles this trip? Any better than the June one? Todd started gettng fussy with me towards the end of this trip, I think he just wanted to sleep in the comfy bed at the Dolphin all day! Hey you can nap at home!

Hurray! Nicki is here! Charles was so much better on this trip -- it was like taking a different person! I was stunned!

Charles had a moment like Todd's in Italy on Friday -- there must have been something in the air -- I know I laughed out loud when I read your recount because it was almost word for word what happened with Charles!

Really? 4 pages of people just subbing..? Really?;)

Can you believe it, Jordan??? I am so flattered! :flower3:

Our subdivision was not effected, our house is at a high point, but the major road to our subdivision was flooded in several spots so their were people that could not get home from work without taking detours. The biggest problem for DH and I was remembering to boil water. That got old after a couple of days, we were blessed compared to so many in our county. The schools were out for a week, teachers went in but kids did not, no water pressure in bathrooms or water to drink without boiling. Plus two of the high schools had flood damage.

Hi Jackie! What cute pics of you and Charles. You both look very relaxed.:goodvibes I've been MIA around here for a bit, but looking forward to catching up and hearing all about your adults only trip.:thumbsup2

Im here! Now the party can start.:rotfl2:
I would of came earlier but Emily hurt her hand badly the other day. I guess I'll have to try harder next time.
Can't wait to hear all about your food and wine adventures.
Have a good night. :wave2:

When we renewed our AP's they gave us 3 free months so I might extend the free dining trip we have booked for next year to the F & W period. Still thinking about it. We'd have to take the kids though. My parents max out their babysitting duties in about 2-3 hours.

I can't wait for you to get into things! :woohoo:

Hi, Kristen!!! So glad you are here! Is school still crazy for you?

Yesss it is still crazy! I actually dropped a class the other day because I found out 9 credits keeps you full time as a grad student. So hopefully that should lighten the load a little and allow me time to actually COMMENT on this TR unlike the last one you did :headache:

I am jumping on board also! Can't wait to see how the trip went. I love the F&W Festival.

Oh I hoped you loved CBR! I stayed there on my very first trip when I was in 3rd grade and continued to stay there in 6th, 8th, 10th and 12th grade. I'm sure I could probably appreciate it more, now being an adult, but we always loved it. The only "bad" things I remember is getting stuck at Trinidad North one year and we were ALL the way in the back, farthest away from Calypso. And..the dining facility is a little small, especially during busy meals, but it had everything that we needed! Plus, the trails were amazing, I always rented a bike and rode the paths!

How did I not know you were going back to Disney??? I saw mention that you were taking a trip and I thought to myself, "Hmmmm. I wonder where Jackie's going!"

Imagine my shock when I found out it was to WDW!! :cool1:

Looking forward to hearing about your adult only trip. :goodvibes

Wow Jackie,

I'm so looking forward to reading this and btw...you are looking mighty happy in that photo...;)

Bring it...:surfweb:

Hopping on. My husband is very similar to yours. Our last family trip not only him, but my teenaged daughter as well, stayed in the room more than going out to the parks. My only rule was we must go to dinner ( we were on the dining plan) and they all ageed and obeyed :rotfl2: Even our 8 am ADR at Crystal palace!!! However breakfast was at record speed and we did not even wait for all of Pooh's gang to come by - everyone else was ready to back to the room and nap.:sad2: That was my first taste of being in the park by myself.
Now I am going solo in a week and leaving everyone behind.
:cool1:

Can't wait to hear about Food and Wine.
Pat

Oh my goodness! I am so glad your house was okay, but I remember reading about everything that was happening and just aghast! I am so glad you made it through everything!

Hi Jackie! What cute pics of you and Charles. You both look very relaxed.:goodvibes I've been MIA around here for a bit, but looking forward to catching up and hearing all about your adults only trip.:thumbsup2

Hi, Christine! Thank you! We were both very relaxed all weekend -- it's hard to believe it was only a week ago!

Im here! Now the party can start.:rotfl2:
I would of came earlier but Emily hurt her hand badly the other day. I guess I'll have to try harder next time.
Can't wait to hear all about your food and wine adventures.

Hi, Barbara and welcome! I hope Emily's hand is okay now!!! :goodvibes There are lots of Food and Wine adventures to tell!

When we renewed our AP's they gave us 3 free months so I might extend the free dining trip we have booked for next year to the F & W period. Still thinking about it. We'd have to take the kids though. My parents max out their babysitting duties in about 2-3 hours.

I can't wait for you to get into things! :woohoo:

Oh, I hope I can convince you to try Food and Wine -- it was so much fun!!!

I was surprised at how well my parents did with the kids -- my mom isn't always the most patient of people. ;)

Yesss it is still crazy! I actually dropped a class the other day because I found out 9 credits keeps you full time as a grad student. So hopefully that should lighten the load a little and allow me time to actually COMMENT on this TR unlike the last one you did :headache:

I bet you notice a huge difference in your stress levels with one fewer class!

I am jumping on board also! Can't wait to see how the trip went. I love the F&W Festival.

Hi, Figment!!! Glad to have you here!

Hi, Jess!!! :welcome:

What great trip memories from your childhood!

I did love CBR, and Charles loved it even more. It will probably be a repeat place for us so the kids can experience it -- we never even made it over to the island to explore!

:goodvibes

Hi, Carissa! Yes, Charles and I took off for Disney without the kids (and it was fabulous ;))!

Wow Jackie,

I'm so looking forward to reading this and btw...you are looking mighty happy in that photo...;)

Bring it...:surfweb:

Hi, Patricia! I was mighty happy in that photo!

:welcome: I don't blame you for deciding to go solo -- I would not have been pleased if the kids had wanted to stay behind at the hotel, too!

The Size of an Acorn or This is What Happens When We Travel Without the Children!

My original plan was to get up at 5:00 am Thursday morning and be out of the house by 6:00. I figured this would be easy to do since there was only Charles and myself to get ready and only half of our normal luggage to load into the car.

Oh, how wrong I was, and surprisingly, it wasn’t Charles that slowed us down. I couldn’t seem to get my act together. It was almost 7:00 before we were out of the house, and most certainly about 7:00 by the time we got on the highway -- after a quick stop at McDonald’s for McGriddles. Drat!

I was sure we would run into the dreaded Atlanta rush hour traffic. Surprisingly traffic was incredibly light all the way through the city even when I was sure Charles had jinxed us by saying, “Where are all the cars?”

Before I knew it (and two stops for the restroom later), we were somewhere in south Georgia, and Charles was enjoying his own special Disney trip tradition.

001.jpg

You can’t see it in this picture, but Charles did indeed bring his own pillow once again.

I wish he had stayed asleep through the rest of Georgia and Florida because once he was awake, he had to stop every hour for a restroom break. I have now seen most rest areas on I-75.

At exit 368 we stopped yet again, and Charles tested his blood sugar. It was high, and he had to take insulin. He somehow managed to drop the glass bottle on the asphalt, and I had nightmarish visions of having to find a pharmacy in the Orlando area. Thank goodness for shatterproof bottles!

While I waited on Charles I took a picture of my favorite fruit stand (we almost always stop at this exit on the way down). They had pumpkins for sale this time.

002.jpg

About an hour outside of Disney, Christine (2xcited2sleep) texted me (at stop number seven -- I do like the turnpike travel plazas) to see if we had reached a decision about Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. I was still working on Charles, and I am pretty sure he was beginning to bend.

Finally, we reached Disney after more stops than we have ever had to make with the kids.

There’s the sign! If you can see it through the nasty, buggy windshield -- can you believe I had actually had the car washed before we left??? Driving under that sign was as exciting and magical as ever!

003.jpg

Yep, we were really finally on property!!!

004.jpg

As soon as we pulled into the Custom House parking lot at the Caribbean Beach Resort, Charles was out of the car in a flash to find the restroom. I’m so glad I don’t have a bladder the size of an acorn!

I had done the online check-in a few days before we left home, so it was a breeze to get our room keys and pay off the balance of the room. Our room was ready so off we went to see the rest of the Caribbean Beach Resort.

UP NEXT: Plan A or Plan B or Plan C?

My goodness! I can't believe how many stops you had to make. I have no tolerance for stops at rest areas. :lmao: I am so impatient it's not even funny. I would have been yelling, so bless you for being so patient. :thumbsup2

a cliffhanger already! I am excited to see what the trip holds... and how much Charles is with you!

My goodness! I can't believe how many steps you had to make. I have no tolerance for stops at rest areas. :lmao: I am so impatient it's not even funny. I would have been yelling, so bless you for being so patient. :thumbsup2

Oh, did I leave out the parts where I was fussing at Charles and telling him to quit drinking or we would NEVER make it to Disney? Oops! :lmao:
