Last night there was a segment on our local news about flashlights (on "Mrs. Fix-It") and one that was featured was something called a "shake" flashlight.. It's the size of a regular flashlight - or a bit bigger - and does not require batteries at all.. Every time you want to use it, you just "shake" it and somehow that creates the light..

Does anyone own one? If so, how well does it work and where did you purchase it?

Looks interesting - especially for an emergency..

How intriguing! I really like the concept--my flashlight batteries are always dying--I wonder how reliable it is.

Wow, that sounds really neat. Whenever I need a flashlight the batteries are dead and we don't have any more of that size in the house. The shaking must activate some kind of recharger.

We have one and it gives off very little light. It might be useful if you were in pitch black situations and needed a little light to see your way

We bought one at Sharper Image to give as a christmas gift for my Aunt. We wrapped it up and packed it in the car for the ride home. Part way there we had car problems.. It was worthless -- it was the middle of the night in a rural area.. absolutely no light. Aside from the very little light it puts out, you have to shake it every few minutes.. which isn't good if you are trying to fix something.

We returned it when we got home and bought a maglite instead. My Aunt wanted a flashlight she could keep in the car and not have to worry about batteries. Maglites are really great, very bright and the batteries last for a very long time. Even the tiny little Maglites (the keychain ones) put out more light then the shakelight!!

my 2 cents!
