Since I'm going camping without a canopy, could someone recommend a shady spot in loop 1500. I've read lots of good things about sites 1503 & 1506. Are either of these spots full of trees and shade? Or can you recommend another site?

Our prior preferred site (#415) had lots of trees and shade, but it was just too small.

As I recall, the 1500 loop is not one of the more "tree covered". I know that the interior sites (those in the center of the loop) do not have much a tree cover.

The sites around the comfort station which back up to the 1600 loop (1500 and 1600 share this comfort station) do have a lot of trees around them. The only down side to this is if you are not a "dog person" yo may not like the sites because 1600 is one of the main pet loops.

The side with 1506 is mostly shade covered.

Check a map because the ones closer to the road on the same side as 1506 a very tree covered as of last Aug.

Just back, and I think 1503, 1504, and 1506 have fairly good shade. We were in 1521 (last site) and only had shade in one corner, but I loved finally being in 1500. We requested 1500 two other times, and kept finding ourselved in 2000. Twice we were in the same site! Don't know when our next camping trip will be, but as long as we're tenting or in the pop-up, I'll be asking for 1500!

We're just back so I wanted to thank everyone for their input. We were in 1511 and it was a relatively shady site at the back of the loop next to the water. I looked and I agree that the sites on the side of the comfort station have more shade than the ones to the inside of the loop. It was a beautiful site with a little more privacy than the others since the access to the water was to the right of our site, we only had one neighbor. It was such a nice view to look out through the trees to the water. I just have 2 complaints about 1511: 1) We had an infestation of deer flies (aka - buck flies.) I used 2 different types of insect repellant, but still ended up with bites all over my legs. After talking to other campers in our loop, it seemed other sites did not have the same problem. So it must have something to do with being close to the water. 2) Since the site is near the water, the sand bed had a small hill to two of the 4 sides. When the rains came on Sunday and Monday, the water moved down the hills and pooled around those ends of the tent. Thus 1511 is not recommended during the rainy season.
