Has anyone stayed at SOG since the renovation? We will be spending two nights there in April, hopefully for a mini-family reunion.

Are there discounts on golf other than the DVC discounts? I couldn't find anything on military golf discounts.

Alos, if you by the LOS passes do you have to use them the days you are at that resorts? We are hoping to golf on the weekend and do the parks during the week.

Are there any restaurants to stay away from or tips?

Thanks!

I can only answer the question above. From what I remember about LOS passes, they are good from the day you check in til midnight of the day you check out. So if you're not going to visit the parks the whole time there, you may just do better buying daily tickets if I remember your correctly. You said you would only be there for a couple of days. You could even buy 4 day hopper passes, because the days you don't use NEVER expire and would be good on your next trip.

I have not stayed there but last month we went there to check it out for furture trips and buy a few tickets. I agree with the other poster who said that the length of stay passes are good for the whole time your there. The only way to get around it that I can think of is if you check in on say Friday night and golf on Sat and Sunday then but the length of stay passes for the remainder of the week that you plan to do the parks. I like the length of stay idea but I also like to be flexible and do stuff on the last minute. Like if it rains I will just skip that parks and do something else. If you like that then the length of stay passes are not a great deal.

The resort did look wonderful I have to admit. And I really liked that they had a parking garage. Everyone there was very helpful and we did a mini tour on our own. Very clean and very relaxing. I hope you enjoy your trip! :grouphug:

We are staying at SOG 4/28-5/7. We want to visit Seaworld while we are there, but also want LOS tickets so our DH's can visit Disney Quest (which is also a benefit of the LOS passes). When we called to inquire, we were told that we had to do the 'other stuff' the beginning part of our trip and get the LOS passes for the remainder of the trip. As long as you golf in the beginning, you will be ok.

A benefit of the LOS pass is the unlimited access to Disney Quest and the water parks. One admission to Disney Quest is going to cost us more than one extra day of the LOS pass. Totally worth it to us!!

While we were there last month we amde golf tee times and got a huge discount at all the WDW courses. You must have a military ID and cannot make the reservation more than 24 hours in advance and have to play after 10 AM. The discount is goo for the entire foursome.

To TSirgey, My family and I will be staying at Shades of Green around the same time you are! Maybe we will see you there. Have fun, can't wait to go.

Hi! I stayed at SOG in October. We had a golf view, away from the pools and main lobby. The hallways are windy and kind of long and weird...but aside from that, the hotel was QUIET and clean and very nice. The golf view was great, the people there were very nice. There is a lack of Disney theme, of course, and there are no Mickey wakeup calls...but the price is wonderful and the place is beautiful. My biggest gripe was the transportation...it wasn't frequent enough for us, so we walked to the Poly to pick up the monorail or busses. It's about a 10-minute walk to the Poly.

You will enjoy your stay.

How neat! I can't wait to go either. Do you have kids? We will have three little ones in tow.

Yes, my nephew 6, niece 2, And our baby is on the way and he will be three months old when we are there.

We paid the extra money for pool side rooms. I hope they are not to noisy for the new baby.

Do you know if the poolside rooms are the new rooms? Not that both are fine, just curious. We didn't specify anything other than trying to get adjoining rooms with our friends. Now I'm wondering if we should request something more specific.

The poolside rooms are in the old section. The new section is an entirely new building attached to the old by a new entrance and a new front lobby. The new section is more convenient to the parking garage.

OP: The best place to find out about golf rates is to call SOG direct. I know last year they had special rates for golfing after 10 AM. I think it was about $45 pp. Rates have probably gone up since I checked though.

Has anyone heard how the new tickets are going to affect SOG guests? From the information on Disney's site, I can't figure out if they are doing away with the LOS passes or not.

MIKEL1515 & TSIRGEY : From the looks of it PA is relocating to SOG the first week in May. Maybe I will see you there. It will be me, DH, DS 15, DD11, and DS 8. :cool1:

I am wondering too how long it is going to take to get the SOG site updated to state the new ticket prices. I'm curious to see how the discount effects the tickets they offer. Does anyone know? If it is going to be cheaper to buy them in advance then at SOG, I want to order them early!!
