Has anyone stayed at the Shades of Green?
Our vacation is Dec 30-January 6 and we have never stayed at
this resort. The last couple of times we went to WDW it was being remodeled and before that it was always sold out. I was very suprised to get reservation for the times that I wanted. I am just wondering how the transportation is, I know that they still have the WDW buses but I am just wondering if they come frequently or not and how the rooms are. Also can anyone tell me if the parks will still deliver your things to the hotel? Thank You::MinnieMo

Hi:sunny:

If you type Shades of Green or SOG in th esearch option, you should get alot of threads with great info...

The hotel is beautiful- The busses are alright- we prefer to walk over to the Poly and catch the monorail. There is a guy on a golf cart "Shady Caddy" that will give you a ride to the end of the property - very handy if you can catch him!

Food is good- we loved the Express Cafe for cappaccino, coffee, breakfast items and sandwiches. Quick and prices are not bad...

Have a wonderful time!

In case the search isn't working (sometimes I can't get it to work!)

Has anyone stayed at the Shades of Green? Yes, we just got back from a 9 night stay!

I know that they still have the WDW buses but I am just wondering if they come frequently or not

--->Actually Shades does not use WDW buses. They have independently contracted a transport company. There are two bus lines, Route A goes from SOG to the TTC. It runs every 15 minutes and was NEVER off schedule while we were there.

Route B is actually two different busses. One to TL/DtD and one to AK/MGM. The AK/MGM bus runs every half hour and was always within 5 minutes of it's scheduled arrival time. The TL/DtD bus runs once every hour and is a bit more difficult to depend on. Also, it drops you off way down past Cirque during the day and we did not find that convenient. We preferred to walk to the Poly and catch their DtD bus which drops off at the Marketplace at DtD.

and how the rooms are.

--->The rooms are HUGE! We absolutely loved them. We were in the new section and found them to be wonderful. I believe there are pictures of the rooms on allearsnet.

Also can anyone tell me if the parks will still deliver your things to the hotel?

--->Yes they will but it takes two days and is delivered to the front desk where the sponsor will have to wait in line to retrieve it.

Have a great time!

We're going back to SOG (stayed there in Nov '98) in Nov '05 for 6 nights without kids since they're away at college. We already have our reservations for a poolside 1st floor room. I really liked SOG with kids and we're looking forward to just the two of us. It's hard to justify $300-400/night in GF or $200-300 in Poly when we can stay in SOG for $115 or so. It's just a peaceful and convenient location. We were able to go everywhere we wanted to on WDW transportation. We either walked to Poly or TTC or took the SOG bus to TTC or parks. The bus schedule worked great. I can't wait to get there. I'm wishing the year away.

I do have another question. How does everyone get their countdown? I can't find info on it anywhere on this site.

The parks will deliver packages to your hotel. HOpe that helps.
Have a great time. I already wish I was there again.

Thanks Harligirl, we are so excited to be returning to WDW! Hopefully it won't be crowded. The only snag is my mom just arrived to "babysit" my dog while we are gone and now she is sick!! Lots of wishes that she is better by Thursday......otherwise what would we do?

My family and I have stayed at SoG (pre-renovation) and absolutely LOVED it. The rooms were huge. The buses were always on schedule and the bus drivers were awesome. When we were there, everyone (staff and guests) made us feel like family. We are staying there again in March and can't wait!!!
