Yeah I made my reservation for new Shades of Green resort. Got a call and was offered the Holiday package. Not a wonderful deal, but can't wait to spend Christmas in Disneyworld and stay at the new resort.

Hope that you have a great time at the new SOG! We have ressies at the Contemporary for this August from SOG. Can't wait to see the new resort!

Did you have reservations for the holidays? I ask because I called to make ressies for the week of Christmas and they told me that they were just making a "list' and would have holiday rules/packages. Could you describe the holiday plan? I hope they call me but I know I am down on the list because I just recently called to make the ressies.

It's scheduled to reopen on Dec. 15, 2003.

Thanks! I'm sure it will be wonderful - especially for the Christmas holiday! Congrats to those of you who got those first ressies!

When did you get your call, and when did you make your reservations? I made mine the first week of Jan and was told I was on the list( even got an emil confirming this with info about the holidays package with a reference # for Dec 26-Jan 4)
and was told they wouldn't be calling until May or June

What is the package they are making you take?
Thanks for the info

Just an FYI: if you didn't call until the first week of Jan for dates around Xmas, then there are a good week and a half worth of people ahead of you. If they had a normal call in rate, I would say it wouldn't be off to have, at least, 100 people ahead of you on the list. It may be more since so many people want to stay in the hotel over Xmas. You won't have a problem getting a room (or rooms depending how many you requested). It just may be until May/Jun before they get around to calling you. This far out, they usually give people a week to respond so, the calling and booking goes slowly, at first.

I always told my customers who were booking around peak time frames to not wait until their entire vacation was available to book (or be put on the list for booking as is done each year with the XMas time frame). Get that ressy or on the list for however many nights you can right at 53 weeks out. The next week, get back in touch and have them add your remaining nights. That way, you get every thing you want right away. For the Xmas time frame, you'll retain your spot on the list even though your adding additional nights to your request. It keeps you ahead of every one else who had moved onto the list over the past week and gets you contacted earlier as the list is contacted on a 'first come/first served' basis. :)

I am also waiting for the call. Got on the list in January. Was told there was a good chance. If I understand First No correctly, if I want to add a couple of nights, I don't have to call back to do that. When/IF I get a call for the list, I will be able to do that. The list seems to be just a call back list.

I wonder if I will get a call.

I have never stayed at this resort before. Is it still magical? Is it nice? Or, do people just stay there because the price is nice?

Anyone know what the package is or includes or how much the whole deal is?

I wish they'd extend SOG to overseas military personnel as well :(

No, sorry, you misunderstood. If you are looking to add extra nights you do need to call back and put your request in now. While there is a possibility that you could add those nights when you are contacted, there's a better possibility that they would tell you you would need to go back on the waiting list for the extra nights you were looking for. Then, you go to the bottom of the list for those nights. Don't wait. It's ALWAYS easier to drop nights from a stay than it is to add them on.

I've been told the package has been revamped to actually be a money saver this year, but I can't confirm it. In years past, the package included: your 3 (min) and upwards nights stay at the hotel, a Stars&Stripes pass for one day less (ex: 5 night stay gets a 4 day pass) for each member of the party, breakfast each morning, dinner 1 night (not including Xmas or New Year's Eve nights) and some type of cheap ornament/gift. It was an overpriced package, but people paid it because if you wanted to stay over the holidays, you HAD to be on it (why any one wants to be here over THE busiest time of the year is beyond me....want to see the pretty lights and decorations? Come any time between the Sunday after TGiving and a few days before Xmas. You'll have all of the decorations and shows and the parks to yourselves, but I digress <g>). I'll see what I can do about getting some info on it. :)

I got the call last thursday. I made my reservation just before christmas last year. I was told that I would be called in March. I did not recieve an email. I was told after I send in my deposit I will get more info on the package in June. The package they gave me was the room, breakfast for everyone in room each morning at resort and one dinner. She also said that it included gratuities for dinning and housekeeping (I am not totally sure of the details of this). I was also told that I could add tickets, chose not to. The price was roughly $1000. Not knowing what the food normally costs at the resort I do not know how good of a deal this is. I just know that my family really wanted to stay here. Now I will just pray that my husband will get to be with us.

I just booked SOG for March 2004 on either side of our 4-night Disney cruise. I've been before, but can't wait to see the new and improved resort. I'm a big sucker, I think I'm going to buy a brick!

Please help refresh my memory... are SOG guests allowed the resort "perks" like e-night admission, early admission to the parks and the delivery of your gift-shop purchased items to your room ( as we refer to it - stuff that magically appears!)

I've stayed at other WDW resorts & can't remeber if all of this happened at SOG.

Thanks.

Unless things will change when the resort re-opens, yes, you'll have most of the same perks as those guests staying at the GF. I *think* the only perk you don't get is you cannot charge items at the Disney resorts and hotels back to your room. However, you can charge items purchased at SoG back to your room. :)

Is it possible to still get a res for this June? It sounds like everyone books way ahead. Do they have discount rates for concierge at the disney hotels too? thanks beth
