Hi, this is my first post on the boards as I have been a longtime lurker. My DH and I are coming up on our 10th anniversary in 2015. We never had a wedding when we got married, just went to the courthouse. I was wanting to do a Vow Renewal and since my DH is active army we were interested in the Shades of Green. I was wondering if anyone has had any experiences there. Can I have a ceremony at SOG and a small reception somewhere else on an actual Disney location? Can I book a MK photo shoot? Could I still book a DP and be able to wear wedding attire? I am so clueless even though I feel like I have been researching non stop! Thanks for any help :)

ok so I have not had a shades of green wedding due to the number of podcasts I have listened to with less than satisfied brides. Also an MK photoshoot is not possible at SOG because it is not considered a DFTW. You can do a DP through Disneys Catered events but no wedding attire is allowed unless DP is arranged through DFTW in order to do that I believe u must be a DFTW bride. With all that in mind I know SOG is alot less expensive, but if a total Disney Immersion Pixie Dust experience from what I understand it isnt.

Forgot your other question u can have a reception onsite through DFTW, but u will have all the same minimums of a WISHES wedding since the other packages do not have receptions or u could do what a lot of escape brides do and make an ADR for a restaurant and sometimes get a private area.

I have been to SOG on numerous occasions and I can tell you (at least from the day-of point of view) there have been many very successful ceremonies/receptions there. It is true that it's not an official DFTW wedding, but you can have Disney elements present. If you'd like to see pictures of weddings/ receptions at SOG, please PM me and I'd be happy to give you the link.

Hope this helps!!

I LOVED every second of my wedding at Shades of Green. There are a bunch of photos in my trip report about my wedding in my siggie. It was a few years ago, but I would do it again in a second! I would say I have PLENTY of Disney in my wedding, and those of us who are lucky enough to be able to use that space save a TON of money

We are renewing our Vows at Shades of Green on Nov 4th for our 10th. I am so excited. Everything so far has been great. I was actually on the phone with Diedre the planner for over an hour yesterday after she called me.

Carrie asked me to do a podcast after our renewal for her wedding site. So look for it in Nov.
We are saving about 150 % having it there over a Disney wedding/vow renewal. We are having a dinner at Shades of green after the vow ceremony. So everything will be there.

I got married at Shades of Green in September, it was wonderful and we just rented the gazebo outside for $300 with speaker and water set up, you can not beat the price.

We had dinner at Fort Wilderness Trails End as our reception which was just a dinner and it was wonderful. Including EVERYTHING, from disney cake and reception, dress, you name it we spent less than 6000 for 65 people. It was very very casual and the guests had a great time!

When i Have pictures from Nicole I will post some. The cake was amazing, I love trails end already so it was perfect!

I was married at SOG last September, they were great! We had a dessert party the following evening, but immediately following the ceremony we had dinner at Big River Grill at the Boardwalk. We had about 30 people and rented a charter bus to transport guests to the ceremony and dinner. We had a harpist and she was amazing. I am happy to share any details you would like. But the spot made for amazing pictures.

We saw this wedding from the balcony of our room. She was such a beautiful bride. The gazebo is a nice place for a wedding.

It is good to hear from the bride after all these years.

I love when you find me in a thread! Almost 4 years now, a deployment, a police academy and a few Disney trips later we are going strong :)

I had my wedding at SOG in June 2009. We then had a Disney Catered Event at AK. We rode the safari and had a buffet.
