We will be traveling with my brother-in-law who qualifies for sog because he is in the military. However, I just read online that they will be closed until 2003. How disappointing! I will call in the morning to be sure about that, but does anyone know if they will put you up at another disney resort at a discount, also has anyone stayed there and what did you think of it? The rates are fabulous.

WHile closing at the end of March, SOG guests will be staying at the North wing of the Contemporary. You MUST book the SOG room through SOG, not WDW. You can also qualify for overflow rates to other hotels should they be booked. You must call SOG for this also. There are several threads on this board about Shades of Green/Contemporary.:)

Thats odd,
When I called SOG for Nov/Dec, they were sold out for 2 nights. They also would not let me book an overflow rate unless all 10 nights were sold out. They will let you split your stay or go on a waitlist.

Are they definately going to be closed in Nov?
It might be worth it to make a reservation and see what happens?

They will NOT tell you it is for the Contemporary until after you book! At least that is how it worked after I booked online! I even asked up front! I sent the credit card #, then they said it was N. wing of CR and I would get confirmation in a couple months(I do have a reservation number though) AND a letter in about 3 weeks.
Oh, our ressie is for Dec.:)

MelanieC, I was waitlisted for one additional night and I called to ask about overflow and they said they do not offer overflow until your reservations are within 30 days as they anticipate openings thru cancellations. Remember the SoG cancellation policy is 30 days out. They will definitely still be closed in November since they're anticipating not reopening til Sept. 2003. You can wait it out or go ahead with another reservation for those two days at another resort, but they probably will be able to fit you in.

We have been on a waiting list twice for SOG and always got a room there. Since military can not always tell what will happen with their schedules (deployments, etc.) many people have to reschedule and cancel. With the 30 cancellation policy you should know w/i 30 days of your trip if you have a room and then cancel your Disney ressie since it is a 5 or 7 day policy. Good Luck
