My fiance and I are looking into a Shades of green wedding but before we get much deeper into the planning process I was wondering about accommodations for our guests. I understand that we can only get about 3 rooms per sponsor at Shades of Green (makes sense) but I am wondering if anyone has any information on how/if it's possible to get something similar to a room block at another resort(s) for our other guests?(our guest list consists of approximately 100 people, of course not all of them will attend) Or is it that they just have to book on there own? And are there group rates or specials for tickets as well? Any information/direction as where to look would be wonderful!

The Disney resorts only offer group rates/room blocks to Wishes wedding couples. However, some of the nearby non-Disney resorts may be able to offer you a group rate for blocking a certain number of rooms—most hotels in the "real world" do! :cutie: Try the Swan & Dolphin, the resorts at Downtown Disney or the Bonnet Creek Hilton.

I don't know for sure, but I think it's possible to get a room block at SoG. My fiance and I are also looking into a SoG wedding. When I talked to the sales consultant over the phone last week I asked about getting extra rooms, and she said she would have to "talk to her supervisor." So it could be an option. I also read some PJs from some former SoG brides and they have had room blocks (I think someone even had 25 rooms). It's worth looking into!

And in regards to tickets- there's the military salute ticket. Each service member can purchase up to 6. They're $140 for 4 days.

I can't post links yet since I'm new to the boards, but there's a link to the military promotional tickets in the right column on the shades of green website.

HTH!

I have a room block at the SOG from my wedding there. They also helped me set up a room block at another hotel just in case I had over flow and to give my guests another option. They have been wonderful!

For the room block is ita certain amount of rooms for each military person you have or is it just a regular room block?

At the begining I stressed about this too. When I was planning I estimated I would have about 10 sponsers coming so I blocked off 30 rooms and an over load hotel at the Royal Plaza. As we got closer to my wedding I asked again how the check in would work and they didn't seem as concerned with the sponser/room ratio as much as when I first started planning. Not sure if it is because of what we are spending or not a busy time of year but they said they put do not check for miltary ID on all my guest reservations and have assured me no one will have a problem checking in. I hope this is true! The events team has been very helpful through out my whole planning process. Good Luck!

You may not be able to get the Miltary Salute tickets, but you might be able to get discounted tickets through them anyway. Your DF could also get tickets at his base though ITT. The discount might vary and the quanity might vary but it is something to check into closer to the time. Sometimes the specials through ITT expire.
