Shades of Green VS..

Are you sure that you didn't buy Disney tickets from SOG at the discounted military rate? I know that you can do that even if you are staying at another resort as long as you present a military ID. The lady I spoke to at SOG ticket office told me in order to get the Stars and Stripes length of stay you must be staying at SOG. These tickets are specifically tied to the number of days you are staying at SOG and you have to present a SOG room key in order to purchase.

I was on the Shades of Green website and it asks if you are staying at SOG or another WDW resort hotel. It is a great savings! I can save $43 each on our tickets.

FYI under the ticket section of the SOG website....when it asks where you are staying you can click on "I will not be staying at SOG or another WDW Resort Hotel" and it gives you the different ticket options. The discount is smaller than if you stayed at SOG or a WDW resort but for a 7 day ticket with hoppers and water parks n more you'd still save $26.43 per adult.

Here are my positives for my SOG:
*It's so clean (cleaner than two times we stayed at a Disney resort)
*The room is large
*Two queen beds instead of double beds AND a pull out sofa
*Your own deck or patio
*The place is beautiful. No, it doesn't have a theme but the indoor and out door waterfalls, the stone inside and outside fireplaces in the public area, are really nice. It reminds of wilderness lodge but on a lighter color and scale.
*Evergreens has always been good to us. The food is pretty good and the price is great even for adult beverages.
*The bathroom is really nice and large per hotel standards. It's more like a suite size.
*Refrigerator included.
*Indoor walkways to rooms
*Can see Wishes from the some rooms and from the front portico.
* Easy walk to Poly to hop on monorail to MK. Also watch Wishes and EWP from beach at Poly.
* I find that the other guests that stay at SOG act more friendly...more polite. More sense of community.
* Never had problems with transportation except....

Going to DTD. Yikes! We had to take a bus to TTC, grab a bus in the TTC parking lot, and then dropped off across a busy street to get to DTD. Next time, we walked over to the Poly and picked up their bus. And we've driven.

We've had a car each time but onl used it to go off property to SW or Kennedy. Also we used it when we had LaNouba tickets at DTD followed by a close ADR.

I've eaten at the buffet one evening and didn't like it. It was like a local Shoney's or Golden Coral. I've had breakfast at the SOG restaurant and it was just ok. There are two quick stop places at SOG to grab breakfast. My DH would go grab something: muffins, bagels, coffee, juice and we would eat it on our patio. Nice way to start the day.

After being at the parks from opening until 1 or 2, we would head back to SOG for a break and something to eat at Evergreens. We would head back to the parks at 5 and have dinner around 7.

Good luck deciding.
