Question we are staying at Shades of green in September is anyone in our party allowed to purchase things in the exchange gift shop or is the person who was in the military only aloud to purchase?

Anyone can purchase, but I believe alcohol and tobacco limited to only those with military ID and exchange privileges.

Yup, anyone can purchase anything except for alcohol and tobacco. Less restriction than on base.

The Exchange is restricted to AUTHORIZED PATRONS only. That means only active duty, retired servicemembers, and their dependents are allowed to purchase items as it is a tax-free environment. Military ID will be checked at the register. If the other members in your party have that authorized military ID, they'll be able to purchase items from the Exchange, whether it's at Shades of Green or any other Exchange location worldwide.

I do not have a military ID and I have bought numerous things (food, medicine, souvenirs, etc.) from the Shades of Green Exchange over the last ten years, most recently in April. The only military ID restricted items are alcohol and tobacco.

I didn't know that they allowed non-authorized patrons to purchase? Usually the Exchange is restricted to the authorized military patrons.

For sure, most (all other?) Exchanges are military only. The one at Shades of Green does allow non-military to buy though.
