First of all - I apologize because I think this has been asked before, but I just searched through 9 pages of SOG info and couldn't find it,so...

I'm staying at SOG in July for 1 night before my aunt's wedding. I'm not military, but attached to her reservation. She won't be there until about 5 pm, but my flight gets in at 9 am. She said that I can't check in until she gets there. Is that right?

Thanks so much!
Lisa

I think there is a way to check in without her, but your best bet would be to call the SOG. There's a number on the Web Site.

No, that's incorrect. No legitimate resort would make one set of guests wait for another to check in. What she will need to do is send a letter (preferably by fax) to the front desk. You'll need to contact SoG directly (ask to speak to the front desk, NOT reservations!) to find out exactly what the wording needs to be. From what I can remember, it's something like:

I, SSG Jane Smith, authorize Jennifer Jones to check in prior to me. I will not be arriving until approximately 7pm and she should be arriving about 11am on Aug 1, 2005. I accept full responsibility for her. Signed.....

And, it should include the reservation number and a copy of her military ID (front AND back) and probably wouldn't hurt to add a phone number in case the hotel has any questions prior to arrival. It also wouldn't hurt if someone would call a day or so after it's been faxed to make sure it's been received. I'd suggest faxing it about a week in advance. That way, if there was a problem in the faxing process, you still have time to refax. :)

That sounds great - thank you for the info! I will do that.

She said that she had to show military ID just to get in the gate and that's why I couldn't get in without her. Will that be a problem? Or will they have my name on a list?

Thanks again!

You'll be fine. It happens ALL the time that the primary guests have their own guests coming at different times. They're used to it. To make life easier on yourself, I would have the confirmation number handy.

If you're REALLY concerned, when you contact the front desk to ensure they received the fax, ask them what you'll need to make it past the guard shack. They'll let you know what you'll need, if any thing. :)
