SHADES OF GREEN at Walt Disney World Resort Thread

I hope someone here can help me with a question I have. DH and I buy our APs at SOG every year and always activate them the same day we purchase. This year though we will be in the area in March and would like to purchase our APs at that time however, we probably wont activate them until October.
Will the expiration date be the date purchased or the date activated?

lynn,
Do you have a military ID? You can always call Shades of Green and ask what the policy is. Shades of Green Main Phone (407) 824-3400. I am sure they would be able to help you.

I would still call the number and check and see. I am not sure what the rules are. Good luck and if you can eat there, try Manginos... we love it!

Well I have been reading posts going back to 2006 on different boards, and figured I would go to the source. From what I gather, it sounds like the Palm wing is the newer wing, is that correct? When I called, the lady kept going back and forth and mixing up Palm and Magnolia, so I ended up more confused than I was :scared: . I requested a room in the newer wing, and then asked if they had any rooms with those small partitions, to which she said she didn't know if they had any of those, they were in the Magnolia wing, but they may have been taken down during construction...again getting me confused with which wing was the new wing. :confused3

So in short, can somebody please tell me...I am looking for a newer room, double sink bathroom (preferably) and a wall partition. Do they have rooms like that? Thank you so much in advance!

I am going to WDW with my daughter and her family in Apr/May but not staying at Shades. I have a retired military ID. We want to plan a day for the ladies at the spa and the boys play a round of golf.

Am I able to book the golf if I'm not playing? Guessing if I can that I will have to go and show my ID. I saw that they rent clubs, do they rest golf carts also?

Thanks

CountryBearTrixie,
All the rooms have double sinks. The Palm rooms are closer to the parking garage and according to my pictures the magnolia rooms are the ones without the walls. The palm wing is the newer wing, but I read somewhere that the magnolia rooms were in the process of being renovated.

If you go to TripAdvisor and look at Traveler Photos there are recent photos of single sinks. I think any rooms with a partition and single sinks are both part of the Magnolia wings. We've only stayed in the Palm wing and have always had a double sink and no partition. I think the renovation of the Magnolia wing was completed a couple years ago.

I just checked out the pictures on trip advisor. I am not sure where that room is. We have been to shades of green at least 10 times we are heading there for our 4th time in less than two years in a couple of months and have been in both the magnolia and the palm wings and have always had a double the sinks with the toilet and tub separated from the sinks by a door. The pictures show the tub next to the sinks, perhaps that is a handicapped accessible room or one of the suites.

I could possibly be wrong about the wall, I am really not sure which side has it. It comes in handy to put things on but when we were there with my sister and her 2 sets of twins we had a lot more room with out it...lol... I went by which wing I thought we stayed at with the kids, but I really cant remember.

I don't remember where I read the post about Magnolia rooms being updated. They were updated in 2009 so you are right they probably wont be updating them any time soon. When we were there in August they were replacing all the door locks maybe that is what the post I read was talking about.

Do the balcony rooms have chairs? The two times I've been to Shades we had the bottom floor golf course side. Did you ask for a balcony, or is that just assigned? We enjoyed our bottom floor and opening out onto the back. I'm just wondering if I should consider asking for a particular wing or floor this time. I don't recall it made much of a difference to us before, except maybe distance from the pool in the Magnolia wing. But again, not really a big deal especially in heat of summer.

I stayed in a handicap accessible room in the Magnolia wing last December. We were on the third floor with a balcony. There was a small table and two chairs on it. Our bathroom had one sink and it was with the tub and toilet. No separate areas for them.
