Shade Seekers return to RPR for 2 weeks

Great updates! Your trip sounds awesome, and it helps having something to tide me over till mine! lol Can't wait for the next one!

I am SO looking forward to yours......lots of HHN pics pretty please :thumbsup2

Great updates Carole, but you're making me hungry again and you know I'm on a diet. I'm glad you discovered Longhorn, the next time you go try the Watermelon Margarita....it's wonderful.

I had to laugh at your delight in soaking people...it sounds like something my son Trey and I would enjoy. We'll have to try it on our next trip.

Looking forward to hearing more, I just love long trips.

Thanks Vicki, will try that next time. I`m sat with a huge bag of white Lindt chocolate as I`m typing.!!! Not good, but you keep up the good work,,,,,,,will be back on track sometime :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1
Yes we really enjoyed soaking everyone, Tom was mortified how hard we were howling with laughter :lmao:

You are great storyteller!!!! Subscribing~!

Thanks.....Glad you`re enjoying it :goodvibes

I need to stop reading your TR until after I've eaten lunch! lol

I'm really enjoying your trip report. I love the way you tackle the parks... a little at a time! That is what I like best about Universal and staying onsite. No need to rush around like you have to at Disney! :goodvibes

Loving the updates! Sounds like you're having such a great time! Your days are full but you have lots of "down" time too, to just relax and read or sit by the pool. What a great vacation! Looking forward to the next update :goodvibes

Thank you :) It`s quite strange as we always think we`re so busy but we do feel so relaxed when we`re at the RPR.

We do the same thing.:thumbsup2

Loving the trip report.:goodvibes

Just subscribing carole, and enjoying the pics of different restaurants we have not tried, quite like the looks of Longhorn, but not sure if we will be there next year or not.
So easy doing the parks, and like yourself , we spend lots of time around the resort, I am like your hubby, when it comes to Dr Doom, not a ride i enjoy , but always do it.
Waiting on more

Thank you. I am really enjoying your trip report as I leave for a first time visit to RPR 2 weeks from today. I noticed that you all wear fanny packs. Were you able to wear them on the rides or did you have to place them in the lockers?

Longhorn is definately our new favourite place to go Robert, like I said, not sure why we missed it before but it`s lovely. Totally agree it`s the way to do the parks and not be totally exhausted with the heat. :) And yes it is a lovely resort to just chill out at. lol at Dr Doom.......is that a man thing? As it seems to be a few men I now have said that about that ride!!!

We wore them on all the rides, except on Dr Doom we took our bags and hats and put them in a box thing to the side of the seats and got them when we came back down. Also left my flip flop crocs on the floor of the seat as well.
Glad you`re enjoying the trippie and know you`ll have a lovely time at RPR....fantastic hotel :cloud9:

Wonderful! God I am so hungry!
I am adding Red Lobster to my trip...

Marquibiri :thumbsup2

We love it there, always go to the one directly opposite The Four Points.......the round hotel, it`s always been excellent :thumbsup2

WEDNESDAY 25TH AUGUST

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOM XX

Yes, it`s someones birthday and he got a special wake up call from Spiderman himself.........still not sure he totally appreciated being awakened at all by a phone call at that time.....even by a superhero :confused3
Opened what little presents we had smuggled in for him and his cards and I reminded him he did get the laptop as a present he said he had really bought it for me and he was going to use my older one.......awwww  I hadn`t really got anything big this trip, I usually got a Coach bag and something from Tiffany...but this year I hadn`t seen or really needed anything so Tom had decided I would have the laptop. Now I felt extra guilty for only getting him a few little things to open, but Tom as usual said just being on this trip was enough. Which was true really, I think even though we`re lucky because of Tom`s job we get to spend an immense amount of time together and we like that, it`s still the best to be able to spend time as a family without the hassles of day to day routines. So we all had a lovely warm fuzzy feeling to start his day with. Kyle of course was still maintaining he needed a new laptop and not me. Kids!!

It was then someone banged on the door.......we all nearly jumped out of our skin......it was our parcels we had bought from the day before. I forgot to mention in case anyone hasn`t been before.......anything you buy at the Universal shops can be delivered direct to your room, usually early the next morning, ours were always there by 9am but we may have been lucky. It`s wonderful you can pick stuff up and not have to carry it around, even if it`s just a mug. Just pay and fill in a ticket with name room number and hotel. They do make sure you`re not checking out the next day so maybe it`s not always guaranteed to be delivered so early. So after our usual breakfast and factor 50 sunscreen we`re ready for another day in the Studios. We had discussed when we got up today did we want to go to Sarasota.....but no we were all having such fun going between the parks and lounging around the resort.

We got talking to one American family as we were waiting for the boat, they asked us when we were doing Disney........eh we`re not was our reply...........they looked a bit stunned and said you couldn`t come from the UK and not do Disney.....what would be the point!!!!! Now we were laughing (not in a rude way) we explained that Disney didn`t really have much for us......Now we were not knocking Disney in any way.......we loved doing Disney the first few years, just that apart from Wishes, Splash, and MK in general, ToT and RnR Coaster there was not much else we wanted to do especially with a 17 year old son, so we were not going to pay a one day ticket just to do that. So we said we were staying at RPR for 2 weeks and only doing the Universal parks, now they laughed at us again not in a rude way and asked how we could fill our time.......told them to read the trip reports on the Dis in a couple of weeks........so Gregg and Skye....hope you`re reading......you have a lovely family and it was lovely meeting you :goodvibes

It was raining very slightly this morning and it was cooler which was lovely as there was a little breeze and cloudy, it was actually nice for a change........not for too long though  We wandered around the opposite way today as I wanted to see what time The Horror Make up Show started. It was too hot to wait the other day and I was determined we wouldn`t miss it today. So got the times and thought the 2pm would be fine for us. Planned to wander around to do ET........and search for Barney if he was there......I used to love when Kyle watched Barney many many years ago.......and I can still remember his songs.......maybe I shouldn`t actually admit to that?????

Tom was happy with this one........Just caught her as she was heading outside

Walked around to ET and there was no queue at all, but a group must have just gone in so we had to wait. Kyle for some unknown reason (being 17 maybe) refused to go on this ride :confused3 :confused3 I asked him as a favour and he still said no way!!! Ok so Tom and I went on and we loved it..........totally harmless and so much fun.......I think I may even have welled up a little when the music came on :rolleyes1 Pick Kyle up who is sat looking as if he is not wanting to be anywhere near ET and he asks if I cried......I said nearly while Tom nodds in the background I did.....telltale!!! Much to Kyle`s utter mortification I drag them round to see if Barney is there as I want a picture.........he`s not, I`m disappointed but Tom and kyle are hightailing it outta there leaving me dawdling behind in case the big purple dinosaur makes an appearance......he doesn`t :sad2:

Left there and totally ignore the Simpsons.......I was so ill on this ride with motion sickness 2 years ago.......I will never go back on it. I was not a pretty colour coming off   So head to MIB, again for me it`s dull but I go on as Kyle asks me to......even though he wouldn`t go on ET!!! So I go on once then they go back on again and I go and sit and admire the area

So they come out after 2 or 3 goes and we wander off. It`s so beautiful here, and we don`t need to rush so we take our time and get some snaps

Now Tom could have gotten a job as a photographer here, as all of a sudden a load of seperate people were asking him to take their picture on the bridge, he must have looked as if he knew what he was doing as they formed a queue........ok not really a queue but there were 2 families and a couple, so it looked like they were in a queue......we just stood back and smiled at a Swedish family explain their complicated camera to him lol. Went to use the restrooms and go do Jaws......which was cool as always. Headed round to Louie`s for pizza as we were all hungry by now......had 2 slices Pepperoni, a Garden and a cheese slice between us.......all delicious and very hot and fresh today.......the lady who was a manager I think was doing a great job organising everyone`s drinks while we were in the queue and it was much quicker than the previous day we were there. Went to Ben and Jerry`s again for ice cream, which was lovely. I got the caramel one this time so Tom didn`t have to swap me his.......I can be so kind.

Planned to go on the Mummy but it was down, TM said not for long so we hung around in the shade :rolleyes1 I did snap some pics though

Only had to wait 10 mins till Mummy was back running so did that twice.......no scares this time........did see someone here I thought was Matthew Perry...........but on closer inspection it was a woman :headache: :headache: oh dear. I`m so glad I never asked as I would have felt so awful......it was just a side glance really!!! Anyway headed round as RRR was back on, we had seen it not running this morning and decided we would give it a try........Not a huge queue so we were on in less than 10 minutes, just missed the front row but Tom and I went on row 2 with Kyle behind......it was so smooth......thank goodness, really enjoyed it....me and Gloria Gaynor were becoming real buddies again..........but I decide not to risk going on again. Just in case. They both did and said it was still smooth, but I wanted to get round to Horror Make up Show.
Continued tomorrow hopefully.........

Oh Carole...I had no idea Tom's birthday was right after mine.

I feel bad that I didn't say anything to him. :guilty:

Happy Belated Birthday Tom!
:thumbsup2

i know, i know....
late for the party but really into your trippie!

it is so entertaining to read.
love the pictures you are presenting to us.

Carole any chance the smoothness of RRR has to do with where you sit? It seems to me a great ride when I'm in the front, but put me in the back and I'm done for. At least that is my theory and I'm hoping it holds up on our next trip! I definitely don't want a repeat of the day I felt so horrible after riding. :scared1:

I think you`re right actually......the front row and second were fine.....but further back seems to be a no no for me. It`s awful isn`t it  Let us know how you get on when you next go.......I can see a whole seperate queue for the front for folks who get sick :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I concur with the RRR assesment. The back rows are horrible but the 1st and 2nd are fine. I rode it like 5 times in a row, and with 2 back to back in the back row, it gave me a headache.
