I have two kids, plus myself who can get sick from the heat. Usually at Disney we are able to get into AC on rides, shops, and restraunts easily. What is SW like? We went to Universal two years ago and about died.:confused3 Hardly any AC, most of it was in full sun.

Unfortunately, I have always found SW to be very hot and very little shade. There are a few shows and experiences indoors (The animal show and the Cirque du Soleil type show are both indoors and air conditioned, the penguins and sharks and arctic experience are all indoors) but most of the "big ticket" stuff is outside. You can get shaded seats for the Shamu shows and dolphin shows depending on the time of day you are there and I think there were fans going as well but you kind of have to seek them out. We were there on a very hot and sunny day in Sept and it was tough (didn't help that I was 7 months pg!).

Drink lots of water, wear lots of sunscreen and try to get the sunny stuff done in the early AM or later in the day. It is a fun park and has lots of new stuff and is very pretty.
Have fun!
Jill

Is it better to go first thing in the AM after 3 for a half-day visit? The park is open until 10 on the day that we plan to visit in August. Any shows or events that we might miss going at one time over the other?

Looking at our June map.....you would be able to go to a 4:30 Blue Horizons, , a 5:30 Clyde and Seamore and a 6:30 Believe show if the schedule remains the same.

Then you could choose whether to see the night shows or go ride the rides, do shark Encounter, the manatees, etc.

It will still be hot. We used mister fans the whole day and night-even when it was raining. It stayed 80 + the whole night. In the stadiums there is little breeze most of the time so I find them stifling in the summer. The mister helped. My niece who is 2 used a mister in the stoller constantly. I think part of the time it was just for fun but she was also very hot riding in the umbrella stroller.

Sea World always feels insanely hot - Not as bad as BG Tampa, but pretty close. Make sure to visit gift shops, indoor exhibits and indoor CS restaurants (for drinks) often. Most of the shows are outdoors and they always make us super HOT!
