~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
Merry Christmas D!
I love the gag gifts for the girls. I know with my oldest he would have cried if we did that to him.
Love the picture of Donald and i think you look great in that picture, it just shows how happy you are.
BTW, I started a PTR but haven't linked it yet.
Thanks! :) I went and posted in your PTR... :lovestruc Can't wait to hear about the rest of your plans. :thumbsup2
Well, I thought I'd start off by posting massive amounts of holiday pictures - Well, the ones that have to do with the bags I made and sewing. :thumbsup2
I am going to start off with Allison opening her bag...
IMG_24461.jpg
IMG_24472.jpg
And here she is posing with it yesterday... I love the size of them - I was a bit concerned, but the size is perfect. :lovestruc
IMG_24835.jpg
I want to add, last night I was looking at some Disney stuff online, and Allison and I ran across a picture of Dug from the movie Up!... I had forgotten that this was her favorite Disney movie - and she seemed much more delighted with the prospect of a Dug bag.... So, I might end up making her a second bag - if I have the time. I remember the summer that movie came out - she would walk around imitating Dug... and we were lucky enough to have a nest of squirrels move into our eaves - so this was doubly funny to her, because she spent the summer saying "squirrel" - long after the squirrels were evicted - and I would always look. :rotfl2:
I have a picture of Victoria opening her Goofy bag, but everyone came home and piled all their coats on our diningroom chairs - and the mess is really vivid in that picture, so I will show you the one of her opening the wallet instead...
IMG_24503.jpg
And posing yesterday...
IMG_24781.jpg
IMG_24792.jpg
And with her Goofy hat (that finally fits her)...
IMG_24813.jpg
And then for our gag gifts.... Oh, Allison wanted a guitar in the worst way... She's been talking about it for months. So, Josh found the Ukulele...
IMG_2475.jpg
It wasn't 10 minutes later, and she was in tears... I felt so bad and I gave Josh "the look" to go get the real gifts...
IMG_24851.jpg
Victoria's gag gift is what started the gag gift idea... Josh happened to be in Goodwill, and he found this plastic sewing machine. When she opened it, we were all laughing hysterically - honestly, I don't even know how I took the picture, because I was laughing so hard that tears were running down my face...
IMG_24774.jpg
And here she is yesterday, with her real machine all set up in my sewing room... She loves it! It's a Singer 99 (3/4 sized machine), I can't remember the year, off the top of my head. Victoria loves this machine - I had her do a bit of quilting on it for me yesterday, and she really likes it a lot. Victoria named her machine "Betsy"... Even though she has a great-aunt named Betsy, she still wants the name.
And, of course, the girls also got their airfare... so, it's official (and I can talk about it) - we are going to Disney! :thumbsup2
I hope that each and everyone of you had a Merry Christmas! :lovestruc
Belated Merry Christmas! I'm so glad the girls liked their bags. They do look to be the perfect size. I love your Donald print too -- where are you going to put it?
We got too much stuff for the kids and had to do some major rearranging -- we had to give ds our flatscreen from our bedroom to make his new aquarium fit properly in his room and have to move a cradle out of dd's room to give her a corner for all her AG stuff. I dread doing all the clean up as well -- I have gift bags, tissue, etc to put away and loads of dishes to get put away now. But the worst is ds got a remote control Air Hog helicopter from my sister and after about an hour the remote is malfunctioning so I will have to try to exchange it -- it's from Walmart so I dread doing that. And he will want me to do it today and there is NO WAY I will go today, though I probably should so they know he didn't play with for a week before it broke.
It looks like your family had a wonderful holiday. It's great that your girls loved their bag that you made them. They look like the perfect size. Too bad your older dd was so upset about the gag gifts. My younger dd has a ukelele and she loves it. LOL! She plays cello and found out that the ukelele has the same fingering so now she plays it all the time. Your Donald print is awesome! I hope you find somewhere special to hang it. It looks like you had a Disney Christmas at your house!
Looks like you had a grand Christmas. Hooray for Josh getting you the Donald print. :donald: My husband isn't big on gift giving (he usually doesn't get me anything, that's why I started doing Disney solo for my birthday.)
I love the bags for the girls. :hmghost: You'll have to write down every comment someone makes while you're there because we'll want to hear. :goofy: Great job.
At Thanksgiving when we were sitting around the table we said maybe we'd be having Thanksgiving 2012 at my son's apartment in CA. (His post Navy plan is to go to UC Santa Barbara. (( UCSB hasn't said yet whether it's ok with them.)) ) He said he could cook dinner in his easy bake oven. :stir: I almost got him one as a gag gift for Christmas.
So, who among us is going to be the frist to break out our sewing machines -- other than Vcistoria? :confused3
D, the bags look great on your girls!! Totally love it! :love: (Keep an eye on the Goofy one though, it might go missing. :rolleyes1)
Glad your family had a good Christmas. :flower3:
D I love your Christmas pictures they are awesome.
Enjoying our room for a bit. Love seeing your daughter on her machine.
LOVE the pictures of the girls with their presents. It sounds like a great holiday at your house, nice and low key. The bags look great and are the perfect size. Your DH knows you well, what a great gift.
:wave: Remember me :lmao: I survived the holidays and just spending the day catching up.
This is probably my favorite picture of my mom... She is the younger one. 9 more siblings followed after this...
And her with her older sister (my mom is on the left)...
And my parent's wedding...
That's all... Thanks for looking and letting me share. :lovestruc
:hug:
Yup. AND you're exempted from taking the final.
:cool1:
Oh, and I forgot to tell you all...
Josh has been saving all of his spare change for months now, saving up for a tablet of some sort...
I came home from work yesterday, and he handed me a ziploc baggie full of change ($104)... He decided to give us all of his change to help get us closer to paying off our trip. Both the girls and I refused it - but he insisted. I just :lovestruc my DH.
D~ <--- Either that, or he is truly excited to get rid of us for 9 days???
:cloud9: That is so sweet or he really wants the house to himself for that week.:lmao:
I also want to thank all of you for cheering me on and keeping me motivated... All of these projects were finished because I have always been so excited to come on The Dis and show you all! :grouphug:
But wait... This PTR isn't nearly done... Lotsa sewin' left to do! :thumbsup2 Park tickets, extra food, souveniers... I'll be creating until I have to hop on the plane. :surfweb:
D~
:hug: We love seeing all your stuff.
I know that no one is probably reading PTRs today... But since we are just spending the day by ourselves, I have a few minutes of computer time.
I love my DH immensely... And he knows about my love for Donald, as well. :thumbsup2 And he always loves to surprise me with Donald items...
I must say, though, that even though I love Donald... I have a super-duper large soft spot for Angry Donald...
And even though this is a horrible picture of me, it really shows how happy I am. :rotfl2:
So, who among us is going to be the frist to break out our sewing machines -- other than Vcistoria? :confused3
Is my dh married to you as well?????? I always suspected he had another spouse.
ME - ME - ME :wave2:
I made dd an AG zebra striped Simply Sweet and a white t-shirt to go under it last night. She's hasn't tried it on her yet, but I will get pics if she does (though I work today......and tomorrow......and Friday :sad1:
love your Donald print, how sweet of Josh!
the girls look very happy with their cute bags and too funny about their gag gifts!
Belated Merry Christmas! I'm so glad the girls liked their bags. They do look to be the perfect size. I love your Donald print too -- where are you going to put it?
Thank you... I am not sure where I am going to hang it.... Actually - I have all of my Donald "stuff" on shelves right here above my PC monitors - but that wall is pretty full... I might have to extent the Donald wall around the corner? I also didn't tell you all about the original Donald movie poster that Josh got for me - but it needs to be framed yet. So, I will have 2 items that I will need to find spots for.
We got too much stuff for the kids and had to do some major rearranging -- we had to give ds our flatscreen from our bedroom to make his new aquarium fit properly in his room and have to move a cradle out of dd's room to give her a corner for all her AG stuff. I remember those days... The girls didn't get anything this year that I need to rearrange the whole house for. :banana: Most of their gifts were clothes - which they promptly threw on the floor of their bedrooms... :sick:
Thank you we did, it looks like your enjoyed your day, as well - I really loved your bag! :lovestruc
I am not sure that the gag instrument is an actual ukulele - that's just what we call it - I think it's just a cheap mini-guitar... of the fair game winning variety. LOL Dd wants to keep it now though, after the fact, she thinks it was funny. :confused3
Looks like you had a grand Christmas. Hooray for Josh getting you the Donald print. My husband isn't big on gift giving (he usually doesn't get me anything, that's why I started doing Disney solo for my birthday.)
I plan on bringing a journal... And I am so strange that I will probably write down any comments I hear. :rotfl2: Maybe I'll get a title for my TR out of the deal???
I did some quilting on Christmas day - does that count? I am in the process of making something for myself. I have a bag order to fulfill - but I couldn't bring myself to make something for someone else on Christmas day. :confused3
I will hand sew Victoria's bag to her shoulder every morning - especially the days that you are in the same parks as we are, just to be safe. :surfweb: She won't mind the inconvenience, I am sure, especially when I tell her that there are people around every corner just waiting to steal her bag. :rotfl2:
Thank you, and thanks for checking in while you are enjoying WDW. I am super excited, because I just read in the POFQ thread that there is now free wi-fi in the resort... :wizard:
Sorry, I already beat you to it Andrea... Maybe next year?
Instead of sewing your dd a zebra outfit - you should have been sewing yourself a face mask to wear at work these next few days - you know... for all those coughing/sneezing/booger running faces that are going to come and expect you to share air space with them... :wizard: Hopefully you don't get too sick. :hug:
Today, I hope to talk V into doing some more quilting for me... :wizard: At least, for a little while... I don't mind doing it - but when I have a TON of pattern pieces to quilt, it goes soooo much faster when she helps. :banana: I think I am going to finish off this week being selfish and finishing (or working on) this project for myself... I also plan to sneak in my little project I am trading with Nowellsl... Next week, I will go back to my orders.
we got home around 11 pm on the 23rd! spent the weekend running crazy.. I had christmas eve at my house with my family and after our week of DLR, friends and late nights, early mornings we hit the wall of exhaustion about 530 christmas night at my BIL house, was a great excuse to leave early...3 hours was more than enough to spend with them :rolleyes1, we had a PJ day yesterday and lazy morning before getting the house picked up and finished unpacking.
Glad to have you home... I hope you had a fantastic Christmas and a wonderful memorable trip. :lovestruc I love jammie days - working on one today, as a matter of fact. :banana:
Let me check his label. Is it on the back of the neck or the bum?
I've never made a simply sweet, but I've found that with stripwork jumpers and wrap skirts (and my stripwork twirl) that it makes a BIG difference with a t-shirt under something. Seems like the stripwork jumper is too big, but with a t-shirt it starts getting snug,. Have you run into that?
I plan on bringing a journal... And I am so strange that I will probably write down any comments I hear. :rotfl2: Maybe I'll get a title for my TR out of the deal???
Good idea. I usually bring preprinted journal pages (not bound) because it gives me someting to do at meals, since I go solo.
Whoa.
As much as I love my sewing quadrant in the summer it gets cold quickly down there this time of year. I'm not quite sure what my next project will be. (Which unfortunately I've noticed doesn't stop me from buying fabric.)
I will hand sew Victoria's bag to her shoulder every morning - especially the days that you are in the same parks as we are, just to be safe. :surfweb: She won't mind the inconvenience, I am sure, especially when I tell her that there are people around every corner just waiting to steal her bag. :rotfl2:
As much as you love sewing are you sure you want to take some of your Disney time to sew? Have you thought of a staple gun? I bet Josh has a heavy duty one that would work.
I do have a seam ripper, and it's small enough to palm. They'll never see it going through security. :rotfl2::lmao:
