~ Sew Sweet 16 ~I’m packing your angry eyes just in case~Aug 2014~ BFF' bag 8/20!!!!

So I would do Donald at MK once and at AK, and do Minnie at MK. I'm thinking if you meet Mickey in MK you'd match in Minnie attire. And I sort of like Donald in AK because I think of him there due to Tusker House, and well he's a duck and fits with the theme well. :-)

For 1900 I would maybe have a night to "dress up" and just wear one of your beautiful skirts you've made!

Ohana we plan to wear some Hawaiian pattern stuff and maybe flowers in your hair?

Chef Mickey is so fun. Also a good time to bust out any fun tees maybe you've bought in the park?

Yea can't do too much at the water parks, but would be fun to customize a really adorable
Sun hat! Like one of those big floppy ones! You could make a beautiful flower out of fun fabric, and even paint in it like polka dots or something :)

I love reading about this part of your trip, bc you know I love planning this part too!! :-)

D~ thought of you today as I was leaving work to go to an estate sale to look at a serger! (I have a GREAT boss!) Ended up buying it--it had never even been used! Can't wait to try it!

You are working so hard! It's no wonder you tend to feel burned out. Hopefully the time off will cure that. :)

I would do either Donald or Minnie at Chef Mickey's--especially since Minnie is in her classic red outfit there!

I agree with a PP idea to do a dress up night at 1900. :)

Donald at mk and then Epcot (when you visit in Mexico!) tweedles in mk.... We met them there in the am in 2011 with the rabbit! Or chef I would either do Minnie or Donald.

D~, please forgive the hijack, I'm wanting to reach many people and my PTR isn't good for that :rotfl:

I'm trying to find a reasonably priced source for audiobooks for my iPhone. Anybody have any experience? I'm going to look into my libraby's options a little more. Audible seemed expensive to me, until I looked at some of the options in iBooks :scared1: Any experience, help, or suggestions is appreciated!

D, just wanted to pop in and tell you to have a nice weekend. My mom is in the hospital so I've not been able to DIS much the last two days.

I can't wait to see the auction bags. I hope you make a lot of money on them after all that work.

Our costums plan sounds great. I can't wait to see them.

I did not make much of a dent in my to-do list yesterday - I'm having some trouble buckling down at work right now. Hoping today will be better.

I hope yesterday went better for you.

Charlotte will be having surgery to put tubes in her ears on July 14th. The fluid in her ears is effecting her hearing and the doctor thinks that the tubes will restore her hearing to what it should be. I'm not thrilled about my baby having surgery but I know the benefits outweigh the risks. I also talked to the doctor yesterday about one of my biggest concerns. Peyton had chronic ear infections when she was little, but one day she just outgrew them and hasn't had one since. My fear has been that Charlotte is getting close to the day she will outgrow them, and I hate to put her through surgery if waiting just a little longer will solve the problem. The doctor told me yesterday that he doesn't think she'll outgrow the problem for at least 6 months and he's afraid that having her hearing compromised for another 6 months could result in long term effects. So, we will be doing the surgery and I will try not to worry too much.

I can't imagine how hard this decision must be for you, I understand. Every surgery is serious.

What kind of bags are you making for BFF and her daughter? Alli has the fabulous Carl and Ellie bag, right? It would be a shame if she didn't carry that. I love that bag so much - it may be my favorite out of everything you've done.

Yes, Alli has the Carl and Ellie bag - which I also love so much. It was such a labor of love for me. I hope she carries it.

I can't give out BFF's and her DD's themes quite yet... LOL I have to keep you all guessing on a few things. :rotfl2:

My thoughts on your customs -

I'd consider switching up your Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum and one of your Donalds. We always have better interaction with Alice in MK, plus you have the chance of seeing the White Rabbit too!

Oooh - I do like this idea! We do have great interaction with Alice in MK too... I think I am going to do this.

For your dining reservations - I'd do Minnie at 'Ohana and Donald at Chef Mickey's and maybe Toy Story at 1900? 1900 is tough with your themes - no time to add Cinderella and the Steps?

There's a cute little Hawaiian dress I really want to get -and it would be super fun for 'Ohana... If I can save up enough for it before our trip, I will most likely do that - but as of now, I need to work with what I have.

I am thinking of doing Minnie at Chef Mickeys, like someone below said, she is wearing her red dot dress there, and it might be cute with her?

I know - I am so bummed, I would love to add the Steps to something, but I just don't think I'll have the time.

Have a great day and a great weekend since I don't think I'll be back before Monday!

Thank you - I hope you have a nice weekend!

So I would do Donald at MK once and at AK, and do Minnie at MK. I'm thinking if you meet Mickey in MK you'd match in Minnie attire. And I sort of like Donald in AK because I think of him there due to Tusker House, and well he's a duck and fits with the theme well.

LOL - these are good ideas... I really think my Donald and Minnie days are interchangeable, and they'd really be good in any of the parks, except for DHS - since I have a good Pixar theme going there.

For 1900 I would maybe have a night to "dress up" and just wear one of your beautiful skirts you've made!

Oooh - now I do LOVE this idea!!! I could even wear one of my Maxi dresses, which I adore so much these days...

Ohana we plan to wear some Hawaiian pattern stuff and maybe flowers in your hair?

I adore your girls' 'Ohana outfits... They are so precious! I wish I could get away with wearing something like that. I did find a gorgeous Hawaiian dress though, which I really want to order... I just have to see if finances will allow before our trip - it's not very expensive... We'll see... If that's the case, my problem is solved.

Chef Mickey is so fun. Also a good time to bust out any fun tees maybe you've bought in the park?

Good idea! I don't normally buy Disney tees in the park anymore, since I can make my own... But there are a couple I've ordered online which would be cute here. You have some great ideas Terri!

Yea can't do too much at the water parks, but would be fun to customize a really adorable
Sun hat! Like one of those big floppy ones! You could make a beautiful flower out of fun fabric, and even paint in it like polka dots or something

Awww crap... Now you have me looking at sun hat patterns... :rolleyes1  :scratchin I plan to order an adorable swimsuit, and it would be so fun to have a coordinating hat for it! :thumbsup2

I love reading about this part of your trip, bc you know I love planning this part too!!

I know you do!!! This is also my favorite part! I just love your ideas! I still wish I could find freezer paper here, I have searched high and low and all I can find is parchment and wax, no freezer. :confused3 I am still dying to do that Toy Story idea I had last year.

D~ thought of you today as I was leaving work to go to an estate sale to look at a serger! (I have a GREAT boss!) Ended up buying it--it had never even been used! Can't wait to try it!

Yay!!!! What kind is it? Is it vintage? I would LOVE to get my hands on a nice vintage serger. Mine is nice and it works, but it can't handle most of the stuff I do... I hope you enjoy it and get many years of use out of it! :cheer2: Thanks for stopping by too... It's great to see you!

You are working so hard! It's no wonder you tend to feel burned out. Hopefully the time off will cure that.

I hope so... I feel like such a slacker these days - since I am behind and I can't seem to catch up... And now that the girls are home for summer, they want to run "here and there" every day - which takes a lot of time out of my work day... I am really looking forward to having some time off, that's for sure.

I would do either Donald or Minnie at Chef Mickey's--especially since Minnie is in her classic red outfit there!

Ooooh - I didn't think of that... I think I definitely need to do Minnie at Chef Mickey's. Great idea! And thanks for reminding me that she is wearing that outfit there.

I agree with a PP idea to do a dress up night at 1900.

Yes, I think this is a great idea... I am thinking one of my Maxi dresses.

Donald at mk and then Epcot (when you visit in Mexico!) tweedles in mk.... We met them there in the am in 2011 with the rabbit! Or chef I would either do Minnie or Donald.

Oooh - it would be soooo awesome if the Tweedles were in MK!!!! Just wait until you all see my custom head gear for this outfit - it's EPIC!

D~, please forgive the hijack, I'm wanting to reach many people and my PTR isn't good for that

I wish I could help you out Jennifer, but the last time I listened to audio books, it was on tape. :rolleyes1 But... I always checked them out at our local library... Maybe see if yours has them?

D, just wanted to pop in and tell you to have a nice weekend. My mom is in the hospital so I've not been able to DIS much the last two days.

Oh Kathy, I am so very sorry to hear this. Please know that your mom and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. :grouphug:

I can't wait to see the auction bags. I hope you make a lot of money on them after all that work.

Our costums plan sounds great. I can't wait to see them.

Thanks Lillian, me too. LOL I am very excited about my customs, I cannot wait to get started on some of that fun stuff!

**********************************************************

So, I worked in my sewing room most of the day yesterday. I was able to get the applique for my custom order drawn/cut/pieced and ready to stitch. And FINALLY, I was able to get the applique for Auction Bag #9 drawn/cut/pieced... I will be working on both of these appliques today. I hope to get them both completely stitched, so I can work on some bag assembly tomororw.

I also have a HUGE bag on my customs list for next week... On the side of that, I will be taking pictures and doing auction prep, since it starts on Friday.

Hopefully - within the next week, I will be doing the PAID IN FULL dance! :woohoo:

**********************************************************

Trip stuff: OK - with all of your help... I think this is what I've decided on...

MK day 1 = Donald
MK day 2 = Tweedles
Epcot = Minnie? (still not sure about this?) I can never find any good customs ideas for Epcot.
AK = Donald
DHS = Toy Story
Chef Mickey's = Minnie
1900 = dress up
'Ohana = maybe a Hawaiian dress?
Waterparks = Maybe a cute sun hat? Thanks to Terri's epic idea above. popcorn::

So, for all of these ideas... I still have a few purchases to make...

* I need red shorts for my Tweedles outfit. I've been searching all season and I cannot find any that I like. I have a pair from last year, but they are WAY too big.

* I also need to order the Hawaiian dress - I think that would be so fun for 'Ohana. I will talk to the girls/bff to see if this is somewhere we'd like to coordinate? It might be fun to all be wearing a different Hawaiian dress?

* Make a sun hat... If time allows.

* Order my last tankini top.

I am reusing most of my patches from last year, but I would like to make 2 new ones... 1 is a Donald and the other is a Minnie... Of course, they will be done on felt.

Now, all of the above doesn't include any of the bags I still need to make for our own trip... :scared: Yet again - it will be close... Sigh.

Can you all see or think of anything else I am missing?

**********************************************************

I hope you all have a wonderful Father's Day weekend... Happy Father's day to Mike (the only guy I know that follows my PTR/TRs), and any other guys out there who might be lurking, then all of your spouses, as well. :grouphug:

Sending out prayers and good thoughts to all of you.

D~

I hope you get to do everything you planned in your sewing room today so you can do the PAID IN FULL dance very soon :cool1:

The serger I got is a Pfaff Hobby Lock. The date on the instruction booklet (I see this very often on items from my parents/grandparents generation!) is 1988. There was a big box of thread that I could have purchased but I am really funny about using old thread so I didn't. Really excited about getting it set up this weekend and trying it out! I will be making some maternity tops for my very pregnant daughter out of some knit fabrics and I thought it might be perfect for that. If you or any of your readers care to give me some tips, I would welcome the pm!!

I can't wait to see the auction bags! I'm not buying, since my custom one is on the list, but I want to see what all you've come up with!

I love your attire picks. I'm both sorry and excited I mentioned the sun hat, lol...

Oh I hope you get to make the hat! I have a pattern (some where in the room of sewing and evil, but mostly sewing) that I keep meaning to make: if only to see Cale roll his eyes.

Have a great weekend!

Kathy, I hope your mom is ok. Thinking of you and her today and sending prayers your way.

D~, I think your plan for customs sounds great. If I make it down to the Disney outlet soon, I'll see if they have anything that might help you fill in your gaps. They mostly have the t-shirts you can get in the parks (but much cheaper) but sometimes they have some cute accessories.

Hope everyone has a great Father's Day!

Thank you Lillian... I was able to get everything done in my sewing room yesterday... Hopefully I will be able to today, as well. :thumbsup2

First... Since sergers were not made as long as sewing machines... I would definitely consider yours "vintage" LOL - even though, technically, it probably isn't. I wish I had some good advice for you... I learned how ot use mine on youtube - so I have the same suggestion for you... Look up your model - or at least your brand (most things like that stay similar through out the years within the brand), and you should be able to figure it out? I hope... Good luck - I hope it goes well.

I can't wait to see the auction bags! I'm not buying, since my custom one is on the list, but I want to see what all you've come up with!

I love your attire picks. I'm both sorry and excited I mentioned the sun hat, lol...

Me too! LOL I cannot wait to see them GONE! :wizard:

LOL I am getting more and more excited... I came up with a darned idea for 'Ohana... I see another bag in my future, but it isn't quilted - or appliqued, so I should be able to whip it together fairly quickly. My problem is if the girls see it, and then want one for themselves. :scratchin

And no worries about the hat... I will have to see if I can make it happen or not.

Can't wait to see the bags!

Me too!!! I cannot wait to get them out of my house... I am sick of looking at them. LOL I know that sounds strange, but they are just so much work - I am ready for my reward. :rotfl2:

Oh I hope you get to make the hat! I have a pattern (some where in the room of sewing and evil, but mostly sewing) that I keep meaning to make: if only to see Cale roll his eyes.

Have a great weekend!

Me too... LOL It will be fun! LOL I can only imagine Cale's eye rolling. ::yes:: I hope you have a great weekend too.

**********************************************************

Ok - so yesterday it was rainy and gloomy all day, so the sun/nice weather didn't call me outside. Which means, I was able to get both of the appliques stitched. WHOOT!

Today, even though it's Father's Day... I will be working. My hope is to finish both bags. I seriously doubt that will happen, as I will force myself to only work until 2pm today. So, I will just work as long as I can, and get as much done as I can in that time. Whatever I don't finish today, I will finish tomorrow. ::yes:: But, it is my intention to have my custom order from last week and Auction Bag #9 completed by the end of my day tomorrow. :thumbsup2

**********************************************************

More trip stuff: Ok - so I've come up with an idea for our 1900PF/Chef Mickey's/'Ohana ADRs...

Last week, I ordered 2 dresses (1 red and 1 black) from Target.com: http://www.target.com/p/mossimo-sup...orted-colors/-/A-15158205#prodSlot=large_1_13

I am thinking I will do 2 more felt appliques and straight stitch them on to the bottom hem... The black one will be for 1900... Red will be for CM... and the Navy one (Oops, I forgot to mention, I found that one on clearance at my store) will be for 'Ohana.

For the black dress, I would like to do a felt applique with the Steps on it.

For the red dress, I would like to do a felt applique with Minnie - or even just a cute red dot bow at the bottom hem... Something that would be easy to rip off later.

And not a clue for the navy dress? If I will do anything at all to it, or just leave it plain?

But for the bag I'd like to do for 'Ohana (which will also be my carry-on for the flight home)... I want to make a "Slouch Hobo Bag" - you can google it... These are the fabrics I ordered... I will do either the blue or navy... Then I will have the red just in case the girls want one. ::yes:: I really wanted a fabric that was "Lilo-esque", but for myself, I didn't want it to be exact. Which is why I settled on the blue version. BUT... Do you have any idea how hard is it to find blue hibiscus fabric... I had something in my head of exactly what I wanted - I didn't want just plain blue with white hibiscus... I wanted the blue portion to have some navy in it too (to coordinate with my dress)... I've been scouring sites for days looking for this fabric, and I finally had to settle on this - it's very close to what I wanted, but not exactly. I still have no idea what I am going to do for an interior fabric? There is a lot of cute Hawaiian fabric all over the place, I just have to figure out which one I want.

Anyways... Now I am super excited about this bag... I think it will be a fun bag to make and carry... and hopefully it will be super quick to make since I don't have to do any quilting or appliqueing. :thumbsup2

**********************************************************

OK - must get on with my day, so much to do, so little time.

I hope you all have a wonderful day... Again, Happy Father's Day to any Dads out there! Hugs and prayers for all of you! :grouphug:

D~

Wow. You have gotten lots done and you keep adding to your to-do list. I don't know how you do it. Have a great day.

I hope you have a great day today.

Here it has been hail outside and raining. It's 41ºF outside so the snow has melted as soon as it hits the ground.

Congrats on getting so much done yesterday, hope you were able to accomplish a lot today too.

DH went out of town today for the week, the girls and I wanted to see him off so we've been home all day. I've pretty much been doing laundry, surfing Pinterest, and watching HGTV. Oh well, I'll be so busy this week playing single parent, this will be the only down time I have all week.

I love the idea of the dress with the appliques at the hem. I would do the Minnie bow, love that! I also think a flower for applique for the 'Ohana dress would be awesome. You are so smart to make the appliques easily removable - you can reuse them and you can use the clothes in your regular wardrobe. I love the second fabric for the bag!

I think you should start a blog, I love reading about everything you are doing and thinking :thumbsup2

LOVE IT ALL!! Those dresses will be cute and easy! I would do maybe just one cute hawaiin flower felt thingy for the navy dress. Just a little sumthin sumthin for it, or paint a cute hawaiian border on the bottom or sleeve or something with a stencil. You dont have to use freezer paper, you can use a piece of cardstock if youre careful! ;) Or even buy a flower and somehow adhere it temporarily? LOVE the bag idea, cute, easy and versatile, you could use it a lot! Bummer you couldnt find EXACTLY what you wanted. That happened to me with the lilo dresses, I found one exact fabric, but it was $$$ and you have no easy way to get the leaf placement exactly where you want it! So I ended up just buying red fabric and painting the leaves by hand! Much better...

SQUUUEEEE!! It's getting SOOOOO CLOSE!!!!! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

I was going to multi-quote this morning, but I was on my Kindle and it would only do one, so I just put it away. Now I'm too lazy to go back and multi-quote. So I'll try to remember what I wanted to say....

First, for a sunhat, you should visit the dollar store (Dollar General??? or Dollar Tree???) and pick up a straw sunhat and then just embroider right on the hat - I've seen a bunch of them done on one of the embroider fb pages. I think they were laying a piece of craft foam on the hat and embroidering over it. Haven't tried it yet myself, but I have one in the sewing room to try.

Second, Sorry to hear Kathy's mom is ill. Prayers for her and her family.

Third - audio books - my library has them in their "e-library" section. I usually just get the kindle versions to read, but I like the idea of getting them for my iphone!

Fourth, I can get freezer paper if you want me to send you some.

I love the Hawaiian fabrics! I second Terri's idea of making a flower for your dress.

Can't wait to see all the auction bags. I have money put aside so I can bid....
