Just wanted to say that I really appreciate that you post each and every day. Reading your update is the last thing I do before I get to work each morning and I enjoy having it to look forward to!
Thank you - I am glad to hear that you are still reading along. I sometimes doubt that anyone wants to read what I have to say, and sometimes my planning is a bit boring, but I enjoy my little morning routine of stopping here to see what everyone's up to.
If you remember I had huge problems with that serger while most people loved theirs I hated mine. I switched to a janome 11000dx.
My mom sews on a ken more older than me.
Yes, I do remember that. I don't love it - for sure - but for as little as I use it, it does the job well enough.
i cannot tell you how many times i have done that exact same thing at work...
like Monday. I was on a CALL IN.. i went there...
**facepalm**...
Hahaha... Glad I am not the only one.
Just wanted to chime in for Meeksamomma that I am a newbie sewer and really like my Brother 6000i. I haven't had any troubles. It doesn't sew thru many layers very well, which I learned when ruffling costume satin and sewing over, but otherwise I really like it. My favorite feature is setting the max speed with a lever instead of completely relying on my foot. I still have to sew slow, so it helps prevent mess-ups if my foot presses down too hard on the pedal!
I just received my first serger. I read thru the instruction manual and am a little scared!
Which serger did you get? I wound up learning all about mine on
Youtube. LOL I was all hung up on buying from a dealer so I could get "lessons" - but once I realized everything I needed to learn, I could do on Youtube... I saved myself a fortune and ordered online. 2 years later - I am happy with my purchase - however - I am the first to admit that I don't use it much.
Stopping in to say Hello! Sorry I haven't had a chance to chat with you this week...been a crazy work week. So glad you were able to switch shifts with your co-worker, that would no doubt be frustrating!
Hi Oopsi~! No worries, I've been crazy busy too! I totally understand. Glad to hear that you are still hanging in there. MIss ya!
I'm happy to hear that Jennifer is doing well after her surgery! Still keeping her in my prayers.
Danglers are a great idea!
I don't think I'll have a problem finding one. Not sure about replacing it myself, I'll probably get Charlie to do it for me - he's good with electrical stuff.
There is a facebook group for 770 owners that has some really good information on maintaining this machine - basic stuff, but info you really should know. I think if you do the small routine maintenance you should not need to take it in for servicing very often. You need to find a Brother dealer in your area that can service it though, just to be on the safe side.
I would love the link to this group - if you want to PM it to me on FB, that would be fantastic!
I'm The software will enable you to open the design file on your computer, merge files - if you wanted to add a font to the design, and other similar things. You don't "need" it, but it does come in handy.
Someone posted a design editor from bows n' clothes - it's $10... So right in my price range. It's
very limited, but it looks like I could very easily stitch my fonts together, at least.

I may take it for a test spin?
I'm I use the shelf liner under all my machines to keep them from sliding around.
You will love the serger once you get to know it! I got mine out last night to alter a dress for a coworkers daughter - it made the job so much faster.
I have another request for prayers from my facebook friends - I don't even know where to start - they say troubles come in threes so I hope we have met our quota this morning.
Firstly, my cocker spaniel, Lady (what else can you name a cocker?) has been having major issues lately and this morning they seemed to have gotten worse. I'm afraid that she is suffering with cancer and will not be with us much longer. We lost her brother Duke this time last year to cancer.
Secondly, I got an email from my brother telling me that my sil Gwen (Kat's grandmother) had a mild stroke right after Thanksgiving. She has been having serious after effects and had an MRI yesterday. They will know more today.
Then Charlie just called me to tell that his car died on his way to an appointment this morning. Sounds serious. He was waiting for the tow truck. We will have to figure out transportation issues since he has to go out of town tomorrow for a week.
I think I just need some Disney love.
By the way - Kat is doing great!
This just made me so sad reading this Tess... I will keep Lady in our prayers.
I was very happy to read further down that things were looking better later in the day.
Very far behind but I'm loving all this sewing machine chat!
Trish - that bag you made is very nice. The fabrics are so pretty and I love the water bottle pocket inside.
Glad to hear Jennifer is doing well. I can not imagine how hard it must be for her to be in so much pain and having to care for her four little ones. She is lucky to have you and her MIL to help out but I'm sure she just wants to feel better. Hope you don't get too wore out from all the travels. I bet the kids are happy to have their grandmothers around.
D~ The piglet bag came out really nice, I love his little face on the top of the bag. At this point you should probably just draft your own pattern so you can sell it. It seems you reconfigured the entire bag anyway. Those pleats reminded me of the ones you did on your Toy Story messenger.
LOL Thanks! I am not sure I could do that? As it is - I haven't made any effort at all to release my UPB pattern, because there is another pattern out there that is so similar - it seems like I'd be reinventing the wheel.
The pleats are the exact same pleats I used on my TS messenger - but I did them a little bit differently... The next time I make this bag - I will be editing it a lot further to see if I can get it to look a little nicer and lay the way I like my bags to lay.
Yeah for having to adjust the size of your holiday skirt. All that Gobble-Gait activity has paid off. I'm glad you were able to visit with your dad and your brother, all that driving does make for a long day. Your Thanksgiving weekend sounds like the perfect mix of family, friends and food. (Despite having to work)
It's paying off - slowly but surely.... I wish it would pay off a little more - I am starting to get very impatient!
And thank you - we did have a wonderful weekend. I hope you did too.
Less then 250 days!!! Let the full on planning begin.
I know - there has been a LOT of talk between the two of us - but nothing solid yet.
Love seeing your embroidery machine all setup and working away. I have a table in my sewing area setup at counter height and I put my machine on there when I am embroidering. I find it easier to thread the machine and it makes it easier to go back and forth to the ironing board if I don't have to sit down. I do keep a stool in there for when I have to babysit a design (like when stitching something on a very small t-shirt). Also, I use the thread stand I got at Long Creek Mills with my embroidery machine. I find it faster then putting the thread on the spool holder on my machine (although my thread holder looks a bit different from yours).
Looking forward to seeing your next custom bag.
This is exactly my issue - it seems that it would be so much easier to thread if it was up higher... I may end up doing some sort of rigging to make it work for me?
Hey D - I just had to share that all of you gave me such a laugh today - which was a good laugh - I was reading about all ya'll's sewing this and that's and pros and cons etc and I CANNOT EVEN SEW ON A DANG BUTTON. I give everything to the cleaners. I know we all have our God-given gifts but boy, did I get left out of the line that said "arts, crafts and sewing" when they were handing out talents. I am in such awe of everyone around here who sews, and your talent and creativity D is such a homerun. Thanks for the smile.
I am thinking of everyone who is getting slammed by this "Artic Blast" as the weathermen like to call it. Stay safe out there. Do your girls ride the bus to school? Even though we are down here in the South, we still get icy roads and I hate DS driving to school. We have horrible traffic on the 2-lane road he has to drive, and its over 20 minutes. I try to keep busy when I know he's on the road and not dwell.
Stay warm and safe!!
Glad I could make you smile.... Just so you know - a little over 3 years ago - I couldn't sew on a button either. Just some food for thought.
Yes, my girls ride the bus to school - but some days, that's of little comfort to me - these bus drivers drive like it's the Indy races on snow covered/icey roads. It's enough to drive me batty every day. I agree - I just pray really hard and try not to think about it.
Thanks so much - you too!
Just a very short followup to my tales of woe this morning. Sorry for whining!
The dog is doing better, although I know that her time with us is short, it won't be as soon as I thought.
Still waiting to hear from my brother - with the time difference we should be hearing something soon.
The car repair turned out to be a very minor fix. The tow truck driver was able to fix it temporarily with a paper clip! Charlie was able to drive to our mechanic's place, though the mechanic said they were swamped and would not be able to get to it until Tuesday. They called about an hour ago and said it was fixed! I love these people!

We ended up renting a car for Charlie to be able to go out of town right before the call, so when we got back from picking the car up, I had to call and cancel.
I am so thankful that everything is OK for the moment.
Please keep us updated about Gwen and Lady - I will keep them in our thoughts and prayers.
Funny about Patience sliding around. My 15-91 is in a cabinet, so not much movement there. It does sew a pretty stitch!
One of these days I'd love to learn to use a serger!
LOL - well, Patience did come in a cabinet... But I took her out... So, V uses the cabinet as a desk in her room (it works wonderful for that)... So, now Patience is a bit slippery.
I learned how to use my serger on Youtube... much easier than you would think. It looks very confusing - but it isn't that bad. If you can learn how to use a sewing machine, a serger isn't too much more difficult.
How exciting that you got your embroidery machine and have started playing
Thank you! It is a little bit exciting - isn't it. It's something I've always wanted, and I am so thankful that I was able to get one - I didn't think I ever would.
Between Monday and today I've already had 5 packages arrive and I think I'm only waiting on 1 more. Guess I better double check all my orders to make sure we've gotten them all. But I'm pretty sure we have. I like to have the boxes unpacked and hidden before DH gets home because he's so nosy that he's ruined gifts in the past that way and now that they are coming after he get's home he's asking is that for me? Oh well I've managed to keep them hidden for now.
Glad the roads weren't as bad as they could have been. Good thing your friend was able to switch shifts with you so you didn't have to make extra trips.
Hahaha... Yah - we are getting packages left and right too... It's crazy! I have everything hidden - but I am running out of space quickly... I am going to have to start wrapping soon.

I did discover one of my gifts on accident... DH left the order confirmation page up on the computer...

Yup - I did see it...

I am really picky that I don't know what my gifts are ahead of time... Which comes from being a child and BEGGING my parents to tell me what my gifts were... eventually they told me... and all of my Christmasses were ruined because the day would come and I wouldn't have any surprises left... I learned my lesson and I NEVER EVER peek or try to find my gifts. So, I am kind of sad that I know about this one. Oh well - normally DH does an excellent job of keeping me in suspense.

First off... This is a big weekend for Victoria... I would ask that you say a few prayers for her - if you believe in doing that. She is leaving us for the weekend to go on a school trip... This is something she really wanted to do, so she saved up half of the $$ herself to pay for it. I always get nervous when I send my girls on school trips - you hear of so many tragedies involving school trip busses. It is supposed to be very cold this weekend with very low windchills - and we have a 60% chance of snow on Sunday, for their trip home... I would appreciate prayers for a safe trip for her. I will try not to dwell on it over the weekend - but as a mom - I always worry. Thank you so much.
OK - on to not dwelling...
Today is grocery shopping day...
BFF has an extra 20% off one purchase at Target that she is letting me use (she earned 2 of them from her 2 separate Black Friday shopping trips)... Unfortunately - due to Christmas - the grocery budget is tighter than normal. It wouldn't have to be, because we save for Christmas - but I like to be double sure - so I try not to spend too much on groceries at this time of year. To our benefit - our pantry and cupboards are overflowing... So, I really don't have the space to purchase much anyways. Most of my purchases will be perishable items this week.
I also have a few Christmas gifts to purchase today... I have Kohls cash to redeem... And a couple of other things to buy. Nothing major - as I am mostly done with all of our shopping.
I managed to finish most of my custom order yesterday... I just have one little thing to do to finish it up completely. I am hoping to have the time to do that this afternoon - otherwise right away in the morning. So, keep your eyes open for photos this afternoon/tomorrow morning.
Have a wonderful day everyone - Sending out prayers and good thoughts to all!
D~
