~ Sew Sweet 16 ~I’m packing your angry eyes just in case~Aug 2014~ BFF' bag 8/20!!!!

I never made it out of the house yesterday except to run to staples for Ink and the store was empty.

I am debating taking the kids out to lunch today for Js Birthday but I have huge issues going out with just C and I and Sami and J it is rough if J decides to act up.

WE only buy for immediate family but my brother has 5 kids LOL. Actually my sister and I make a game of how cheap can we get it without looking cheap.

Most Walmarts are open on Thanksgiving unless it's in a state that has a law against stores being open on holidays. Those stores opened at midnight.
We had a turkey dinner with all the fixings. It was very good. Yesterday we had subs from a local sub shop. The dinner was from another local place. We got double time for Thanksgiving. Next week we get an extra 25% off an entire shopping order but it has to be at the store we work at. I don't work in a supercenter so we don't have a full grocery section.
I'm glad you enjoyed the madness yesterday. It sounds like you did a lot of running. I stayed mostly in elecronics/photo.
I hope your Christmas shoppong trip was successful.

:thumbsup2 We went to my best friends in Wooster for Thanksgiving. I brought the turkey, potatoes, and cranberrys. She did the side dishes and gravey. Normally I like to eat around noon so we can snck on left overs the rest of the day. But she wanted a dinner meal so that's what we did. My DH didn't care for that idea he likes to snack all day. But he got over it and Christmas this year is at his moms in Illinois so he can snack there. He is schedualed for back surgery on the 30th of dec so will be laid up for awhile. Hopefully he will be ready for WDW in oct. but I rented him an ECV to be safe. So I guess I also got out of doing all the cooking this year, although I did help. :lmao: It was snowing in Wooster but when we got home it was warm enough I didn't even need my coat....lol you wouldn't think an hour and a half would make that much difference. Glad to hear you had a good Thanksgiving! I am sure target will keep you busy as you get closer to Christmas.

Just getting home from my trip and just wanted to thank you again for the awesome job you did on my bag!! It was definitely a hit for everyone. The CMs would ask me about it and I would tell them that "a friend made it for me". They all suggested that you set up an Etsy account and sell them. :lmao:

I also was stopped a few times by other tourists who asked where they could get a bag like mine!! I gave them some helpful info so that they could find you. I think you should include about 5-10 business cards in every bag you ship out so that we can pass them out at the parks!

Thanks again!

I hope your day went better yesterday. Were you able to go out for lunch? I've really been enjoying your Thanksgiving albums on Facebook. :thumbsup2

I love the game you play with your sister - I think everyone should do that! :scratchin

That's interesting - something I didn't know. I am glad they feed you though and make it "worth your while". Bummer that you don't have a grocery section (I thought all Walmarts did?) - if it makes you feel any better, we have a very SMALL grocery section - our store would do so much better if we had a bigger one - that's for sure.

It sounds like you had a marvelous Thanksgiving, despite the later meal.

I sure hope your DH's back surgery goes well. Josh's Dr. is looking at surgery as an option with his back too - which makes me so nervous.

It's been unseasonably warm here too... I went out shopping yesterday in a light fleece coat, and wound up shedding it half way through the day. It was the perfect shopping weather, IMO. :thumbsup2

Thank you Bridget - I am so glad you enjoyed your bag and you had a great trip! LOL about the Etsy account - I used to have one - technically, I still do - but I was just too busy to keep up with it. :confused3

I wish I could include business cards, I thought of doing it at one time, but someone told me that it would be considered "soliciting" on Disney property - which would cause the giver of the business cards to be escorted off... I would feel HORRIBLE if I wrecked someone's trip due to giving out my business cards. So, I've just decided that "word of mouth" will have to do. :wizard: But I soooo appreciate your willingness and wanting to do that for me and my business.

Soooo.... Are you going to do a TR? If you do, and I don't notice it - please let me know - I would love to follow along! :lovestruc

**********************************************************

Do I dare tell you all about my shopping endeavors yesterday? It was pretty crazy!!!

My neighbor and I started at Target (surprised?)... I purchased way too many things for Thomas... Little Thomas will have way more items this year from us than our girls will... :faint: I was also able to find 3 of the C9 shirts for myself (I know, bad me) from the Black Friday ad... I purchased them a size smaller, and they are different colors.

I also purchased Red Lobster GCs, so I could get my Target Discount on our lunch. :thumbsup2

By the time we were done at Target - we were both ready for lunch - so we went straight to Red Lobster to eat. It was a great lunch - and something I always look forward to doing. We must have sat there and chatted for 2 hours. :lovestruc

From there - we went to the Lands End inlet/outlet... That is a store that I NEED to stay out of - seriously!!! Every year we go, and every year I am in there for hours. :worship:

I found a few nice gifts for Josh...

And I purchased a few things for myself... GAH!!!! I found a 700 fill down coat - after all of the discounts offered yesterday, I paid $53 for it! And I needed a down coat - I've been looking at purchasing one for a few years now - so excited that I finally have one! I also purchased 2 turtlenecks... I just love LE modal shirts - I wear them all winter long, they are very lightweight, but very warm.

From there - we went to Hallmark... I wasn't going to buy anything, but then I found the Tervis tumblers... So I grabbed a couple for stocking stuffers. I had a great coupon that worked on them.

We also went to Kohls... Where I was able to get gifts for my dad, brother and Josh. :thumbsup2

We went to Justice for my neighbor... I did not purchase anything there.

We also went to Marshalls... I purchased a small holiday assortment of Jelly Bellies to send over to Brian and Myrthe.

And that concludes my Christmas shopping.

I still have 3 more gifts to get - which I need to get in a different town.

Then we are DONE with Christmas shopping. :wizard: Yay!

I came home to Josh making a nice dinner... Mmmmm...

The girls and I played MarioKart for a little while, then V and I started to watch a movie - which I started falling asleep to, so we all went to bed.

Today, we are all driving up to my Dad's to celebrate Thanksgiving with him and my brother. :lovestruc

I hope you all enjoy the last day of your holiday weekend! :lovestruc

Hope Joshis goes well also....pixiedust:

Hi D! Love the bag you made Myrthe, great colours, like how they peekout with this pattern, and piglet is cute! The stockings look great too, :cheer2: for getting them done.
Love the hat you wore for the Gobble Gait, and that you had a good Thanksgiving including your busy day at Target. How nice that you are done your Christmas shopping done. I can't believe it's Dec already. I have to do my shopping and start baking :scared:

Glad you still had a very Happy Thanksgiving even though you went to a restaurant. We had a great time at my parent's and my mom and I did go out shopping Thursday night. I was able to get ALL my shopping done!! Only need to get 1 more thing for James and stocking stuffers and I'll be completely done.

Love the new bag and design. Piglet looks adorable!!

Sounds like a great time shopping with your neighbor. My mom and I were in and out of the one store I wanted to go to in 2 hours. But that was just because we'd remember one more thing we needed to get. :rotfl2: Or I'd check my list and realized I'd forgotten something. I'm just glad to be 99.9% done!!

Hi Bernadette! Thank you so much! I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving too! :lovestruc
We had a nice day. A few years ago I was scheduled for foot surgery the Monday before Thanksgiving so I ordered a precooked meal from a grocery store. It was wonderful so we've done it every year since. We heat the turkey up in the oven so the house still smells like Thaksgiving but lots less prep & cleanup and we can relax and enjoy family. Gene's sister comes for dinner and my sister & her 21yo DD came later in the day. The kids loved seeing their cousin. They all had a great time playing with our new smart TV watching lots of funky you tube videos.

Friday I went to Staples around 8am. It was pretty empty. MA doesn't allow stores to open on Thanksgiving so most opened at midnight. I was happy that Staples still had the GPS I wanted.

I'm nearly done with Christmas shopping. I still need something else for Gene. He told me he wanted a new pair of Iron Clad work gloves. My SIL had given him some a few years ago and he loved the fit and how well they've held up. We found the Iron Clad web site and they had a coupon code for 40% off sale items so we ordered a bunch for gifts.

I always buy the kids an ornament and PJs to open Christmas Eve. I want to make them PJ pants and will get them ornaments at WDW. I still need a few stocking stuffers too.

I've got to pack today as its my last weekend day off before our trip. I hope to make a few PJ pants today too. I was doing so well a few weeks ago but got derailed when I cut Emma's too short. I've got to fix those today so I can start on the others.

LOL Thanks! Yes, she was, but in the end - she chickened out. She couldn't handle being seen in public with that big ol' turkey hat. :confused3

D~
That doesn't sound like the V I met at WDW but I suppose it is different when you might see someone you know from school. Are you sure the early hour of the race didn't have anything to do with her not wanting to go?

Hope you have a great day today.

Got distracted while posting this morning. Hope you had a great day.

I didn't pack but got stuff put aside. I bought Emma a T to go with her PJs but I can't find it.:confused3. I remember washing it but I can't find it anywhere. I didnt get any other PJs done but did finally get Emma's fixed. What a pain-would have been quicker to just start over but I wouldn't have had enough fabric to make me any. I did also finish a couple of pillow cases. I think I might take Tuesday off from work to finish up a few things.

Yikes!!! I hope your DH's surgery goes well and he is in less pain afterwards.

The Dr. hasn't determined if Josh is going to have back surgery yet or not... He just had a fresh CT scan a few weeks ago - and it's showing more damage... So the Dr. has ordered more PT and he will make a determination from there.

Thanks Tracy! I do love the pattern too - I just think, with the quilting - it would look so much nicer if it was a bit bigger. :confused3

The Gobble Gait hat was made by my BFF... She has been making fleece hats for Christmas gifts - so I challenged her to make me a BIG Turkey hat... LOL I think it turned out great!

I know - I cannot believe that it's December already too - it's crazy! I signed into MDE the other day - and we are right around 250 days for our trip! The girls and I need to tell Josh soon. :rotfl2:

Thanks Sandra! I am happy to hear that you had a great Thanksgiving and congrats on finishing up all of your shopping. LOL about going back to stores... I wound up at Target about 5 different times over the weekend.

Hmmm... NOw there's an interesting idea! I should have done something like that for when we went to my Dad's yesterday - it would have worked out perfectly. I will keep that in mind for next year for sure!

It sounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Please give our love to all of the kids!

Friday I went to Staples around 8am. It was pretty empty. MA doesn't allow stores to open on Thanksgiving so most opened at midnight. I was happy that Staples still had the GPS I wanted.

I wish MN was that way - it would be nice. I am glad you were able to get the GPS you needed.

How awesome that you were able to get a deal on them! :thumbsup2

I always buy the kids an ornament and PJs to open Christmas Eve. I want to make them PJ pants and will get them ornaments at WDW. I still need a few stocking stuffers too.

That is an awesome tradition! The girls usually get PJ pants for Christmas - but I've never made any for them... I thought about it once, LOL, but that's about as far as I got with it. :confused3

I've got to pack today as its my last weekend day off before our trip. I hope to make a few PJ pants today too. I was doing so well a few weeks ago but got derailed when I cut Emma's too short. I've got to fix those today so I can start on the others.

YAY!!!! I cannot believe your trip is here already!!! Are you booking another one while you are there? And I can't remember - are you going in August again? Just wondering if we are going to get a chance to meet up?

That doesn't sound like the V I met at WDW but I suppose it is different when you might see someone you know from school. Are you sure the early hour of the race didn't have anything to do with her not wanting to go?

I know! She was going to go, up until the very last minute... Going early was part of the reason she didn't want to go. It was OK though - maybe next year I can talk her into it. Her other issue, exactly as you said, she was worried that kids at school would see her with me. :confused3

Hope you have a great day today.

Got distracted while posting this morning. Hope you had a great day.

I think that taking Tuesday off is a great idea! I hope you are able to finish everything you need to finish. YOu are going to have a fantastic time with Emma! We all miss you all, and hope you have a wonderful holiday season! :wizard:

**********************************************************

We had a nice day with my Dad and brother yesterday... It's almost a 3 hour drive for us - so it makes for a LONG day doing a turn around trip.

We left at about 10am, and arrived in my Dad's town at 1pm... We grabbed Applebees carside to go for our "Thanksgiving dinner"... That worked out pretty well for us.

It was very nice to visit with my dad and brother - I really miss living closer to them, it's very hard on me, as my dad is aging - knowing that I should be there to help him, but logistically - it's very difficult.

We stayed until about 4pm, then we headed back for home. We stopped at Jimmy Johns for dinner... Our last meal "out"... Thank God - I don't think I can take another meal out. LOL

We arrived home at about 7:30 and I went almost straight to bed.

I am looking forward to being back to my normal routine today...

Back to lifting this morning and eating good meals. My body is ready for this.

I am also back to my sewing room, I start my next custom order today. :woohoo:

I hope you all have a fantastic day! Sending out prayers to all who need them!

D~

I just made a stupid mistake...

I went and priced our airfare for our trip...

It's $100 cheaper per person now than I paid for our last trip.

Grrr... I cannot/must NOT buy airfare right before Christmas... :scared:

Now it's going to drive me nuts all day!

D~

LOL I bought airfare on Christmas eve one year because I was playing and it was super cheap.

Hey D - glad you had a good weekend and could see your dad and bro. We actually got our Christmas tree up yesterday! That's a first for us, but I insisted since Thanksgiving was so late and it seems Christmas is right around the corner. I will slowly work on decorating the house this week.

Don't get me started about air fares. I am known for looking daily and agonizing whenever we have a vacation planned. I want to go ahead and book our June trip to California, but my youngest DS won't give me a straight answer. I am giving him the option of leaving the night of his graduation, or the next morning. I would so much like to leave the night before and have a full day in San Fran. But, it's his graduation and I want to give him the option. I might go ahead an book since its Southwest and there is no change fee, but I will have to pay more in the rate goes up. Don't dwell too much - you will get there one way or the other!!! Sign up for air fare alerts on all the different sites, it helps a lot. (except the alerts do not include Southwest which I gauge all of them by).

Good look with your custom order - cannot wait to see pics!

Have a wonderful week!!!

Sounds like you all had a busy and fun weekend! I am with you on being glad to get back to the every day routines of eating right and exercise! I was back at it at 5:15 this morning as well! :cool1:

WTG on getting your Christmas shopping almost finished! :thumbsup2 We are about 75% finished at this point. We actually gave my mom her gift over Thanksgiving. It was a really nice buffet serving set. Since she hosts quite a few Christmas dinner parties at her house I wanted her to be able to use it this month BEFORE Christmas. She really liked it.

My BIL just got married, and everything gets finalized this Friday for him to adopt his new wife's two children...SO, I need to get some gifts for them as well. Since I had not gotten anything for his daughter yet, I may cheat and just get them all a family gift. :rolleyes1

I am so ready for Christmas, just love it! :goodvibes

Yeah we had a fun time.

Happy to hear you had a good time with your dad and brother. It is hard when your not close (distance wise) especially if something were to happen.

Ugh about the airfare. Hope your able to get a good deal when your ready to purchase.

I made Raina a new purse and had to share a pic now that she has it and got to see it first.....lol

can't wait to see your next bag.......:goodvibes

Thanks Tracy! I do love the pattern too - I just think, with the quilting - it would look so much nicer if it was a bit bigger. :confused3

The Gobble Gait hat was made by my BFF... She has been making fleece hats for Christmas gifts - so I challenged her to make me a BIG Turkey hat... LOL I think it turned out great!

I know - I cannot believe that it's December already too - it's crazy! I signed into MDE the other day - and we are right around 250 days for our trip! The girls and I need to tell Josh soon. :rotfl2:
You'll have to try making another purse with that pattern but a bit bigger and see how it is :thumbsup2

How cool that your BFF made your hat. It did turn out great! It certainly was a BIG turkey hat too:rotfl2:

Glad you got to spend some time with your Dad and brother. I know how hard it can be to be far away from family.

Man, airfares are so hard. You never know what they are going to do. Why can't the airline just choose a price and that is always the price instead of it going up and down and all around :confused3

LOL I bought airfare on Christmas eve one year because I was playing and it was super cheap.

Yah - I wouldn't be opposed to buying airfare on Christmas Eve, considering at that point, I am pretty much done with Christmas shopping. That's a good idea though - I may have to do an airfare search on Christmas Eve.

Hey D - glad you had a good weekend and could see your dad and bro. We actually got our Christmas tree up yesterday! That's a first for us, but I insisted since Thanksgiving was so late and it seems Christmas is right around the corner. I will slowly work on decorating the house this week.

That's awesome! We have yet to get any Christmas decorating done at all. Traditionally, we always put up our tree the weekend of Thanksgiving, but this year was just so crazy that we didn't have the time to go cut one. Sadly, DH starts school again on Saturday - and he has school every single day until the Sunday before Christmas... Which means, he will have to stop one day this week after work and just pick out a tree for us. Otherwise, we won't have a tree this year at all. :crazy2:

Don't get me started about air fares. I am known for looking daily and agonizing whenever we have a vacation planned. I want to go ahead and book our June trip to California, but my youngest DS won't give me a straight answer. I am giving him the option of leaving the night of his graduation, or the next morning. We have yet to fly Southwest... We always go Sun Country, just because I like flying out of our little terminal when I am alone with the girls. However, Southwest does fly out of the little terminal too - so this time, I am really going to watch their fares - since I always end up paying $150+ for baggage fees, it really adds up.

I hope you are able to get everything figured out with your trip with DS. :thumbsup2

Good look with your custom order - cannot wait to see pics!

Have a wonderful week!!!

Thank you! I hope you have a wonderful week too!

Sounds like you all had a busy and fun weekend! I am with you on being glad to get back to the every day routines of eating right and exercise! I was back at it at 5:15 this morning as well!

For sure! My body was thanking me all day yesterday - it just felt to good to get everything back to normal.

I am really dragging out Stage 1 of my lifting... I was supposed to be done the week before Thanksgiving, and it's mandatory that when you finish a stage that you take a week off from everything. Well, I didn't want to take the week of Thanksgiving off, or this week - I was afraid it would send me sprialing out of control right before the holidays. So, instead, I am dragging it out and I plan on finishing Stage 1 the week before Christmas, so I can take Christmas week off - then it will give me motivation to get started again right after Christmas. :scratchin I hope.

Today is my day to do WATP... I like my WATP days. ::yes::

WTG on getting your Christmas shopping almost finished! We are about 75% finished at this point. We actually gave my mom her gift over Thanksgiving. It was a really nice buffet serving set. Since she hosts quite a few Christmas dinner parties at her house I wanted her to be able to use it this month BEFORE Christmas. She really liked it.

Tha'ts awesome - I would say that I am 75% done too... I know what I am getting everyone - so that is half the battle.

I am very glad your mom liked her gift - what a nice and useful gift for her! :thumbsup2

My BIL just got married, and everything gets finalized this Friday for him to adopt his new wife's two children...SO, I need to get some gifts for them as well. Since I had not gotten anything for his daughter yet, I may cheat and just get them all a family gift.

I am so ready for Christmas, just love it!

Congrats to them - that is awesome! I would totally do a family gift for them.

I know - I love Christmas too... Unfortunately, it really doesn't feel like Christmas yet - I honestly think it's because we had Thanksgiving dinner at a restaurant. :scratchin

Yeah we had a fun time.

Happy to hear you had a good time with your dad and brother. It is hard when your not close (distance wise) especially if something were to happen.

Ugh about the airfare. Hope your able to get a good deal when your ready to purchase.

Yes, it's really hard to be that far away. I should be happy that we are not further - but it's still rough.

I hope so too! Thanks Sandra!

I made Raina a new purse and had to share a pic now that she has it and got to see it first.....lol

can't wait to see your next bag.......

Great job Trish! I really like the colors! And great job on the applique - I love the stitching!

You'll have to try making another purse with that pattern but a bit bigger and see how it is

I printed out the pattern 40% bigger, and now I am afraid it's too big. LOL Although - I do like bigger bags for Disney. :scratchin I might have to print it at 30% and 20% just to see if those sizes look any better.

How cool that your BFF made your hat. It did turn out great! It certainly was a BIG turkey hat too

Yah - it is definately BIG! LOL

Glad you got to spend some time with your Dad and brother. I know how hard it can be to be far away from family.

Me too - it is very hard. Especially when - if I am not able to get there on the actual holiday - they have to spend it alone, and that really bothers me a lot. :(

Man, airfares are so hard. You never know what they are going to do. Why can't the airline just choose a price and that is always the price instead of it going up and down and all around

Wouldn't that be nice? LOL I don't think we will ever get that lucky.

**********************************************************

Today is an exciting day for me...

My new (to me) embroidery machine will be delivered!!! :wizard: I cannot wait to take it for a test spin! Typically UPS delivers before noon... :beach:

Yesterday, I was able to get my custom order cut out and quilted. I will be working on the applique today. I hope to finish it early - because I cannot play with my embroidery machine until that's done - otherwise it won't get done. I know myself too well. ::yes::

Then, yesterday afternoon, I made the flower to go on my Christmas skirt... I really love how the whole thing turned out. I am very excited to wear it. :thumbsup2

BFF and I did discuss our dates more thoroughly yesterday, and we've got it narrowed down to which day we want to fly back home. However - I think we will wait to change our booked dates until we have airfare... I don't want to miss out on any of our current trip discounts - if airfare for a different date is better.

That's about all... I hope you all have a great day - Prayers going out to all in need. :lovestruc

I'm so excited for you to get your embroidery machine and looking forward to seeing how you like it!! :cool1:

I was surprised the applique came out that well, it was my first and my machine doesn't have like a straight satan stitch it does like little curves. like smiling mouths all stuck together......lol don't know how to describe it. Anyway I had to go around it 3 times to get the coverage....lol
