~ Sew Sweet 16 ~I’m packing your angry eyes just in case~Aug 2014~ BFF' bag 8/20!!!!

I had a long post almost typed and lost it somewhere in cyberspace :confused3 how annoying!!!

To sum it up, I wouldn't pass up buying a new car, as long as I could still pay cash for it! I paid cash for my last car and went with used so I could avoid a car payment. That was six years ago and it has been wonderful not having that payment!! I lucked up on a Rav4 that has been a GREAT car! I hope to keep it for a few more years. It seems like used cars have gotten much more expensive since then though and in many cases you can get a much better deal on a new one! My last car was a Buick (Regal) and it was the smoothest riding car I've ever been in!

Of the three you posted I like the red Ford Edge the best, nice looking car!

Phew! That took me a little while but I finally made it through this thread. Saw your sig on a post you made on another thread and were so intrigued I just had to follow you here (and now I feal like sutch a stalker ). I LOVE your bags, you choose wonderful color combinations and the aplique designs are really well done and designed. You make me want to so something other than curtains and the repairwork I usually do on my machine.

I just have a few questions if you don't mind, what was the exsact model on your embroidery machine? You probably said it somewhere but I couldnt find it. What pattern did you use for the skirt? I really loved it and would love to try my hand on something like that. And finally, where do you usually do your auction? I would love to buy a bag from you before we go and think that would be my only chance. They look fantasticly practical. Thanks!

I hate when that happens. I sometimes write my post in word and paste it, but sometimes that is just way to much work.

I've never had to write it in word before... Usually I just write it in a regular reply, then before I hit the post button, I copy it. But yesterday - my computer was acting funny, so as I went to highlight it to copy, it arrowed back a page and I lost it. :badpc: Grrr... I am still annoyed by it - LOL, because I don't like missing replies.

totally understand your frustrations.. Like i said my computer has been crashing..

Have a good day my friend!!!!

Grrrr about your computer, I can't believe it's still acting like that!

I did - I hope you did too.

Hi D~
I didn't realize Building 6 was your favorite. Here I thought it was 4. We prefer 5 above all of them, but I can see where 6 would be just the mirror image of 5. Love the grassy courtyard between them. I always picture people dressed like the 1800s playing croquet in that space. Yes, I am sort of a looney toon.

Yup - our favorite is building 6. I also love that courtyard... it's just a great location, not too far from anything.

We need a selfie of the new maxi dress. Sounds really cute. And if the girls want to borrow it, that a ringing endorsement for sure! I've been eyeing them at Kohl's, but there is no way I'm ready for one of those unless I wear some sort of spanx or something underneath! But I just love that they are popular again.

Hahaha... I will try to get one for you the next time I wear it. I have one from when I tried it on - but I am in my walk-in closet and it's a disaster (although, it's better now that I've rid myself of 3/4 of what was in there... ::yes::). I need to bring it into my sewing room today and some how tack down the lining to the side seams of the dress. I love that it's lined, but the lining likes to ride up under my dress when I am wearing it and it was driving me crazy!

Glad you got a lot accomplished on your shopping trip. It's always a bit of a bummer to not save as much as you hoped. I usually buy way more at Target than what I originally went in for. I think we all do.

Yah - it's the Target curse. LOL

Dan and I bought a car that had been a demo at the dealer, so we got the full warranty, but paid used car price. It had just under 5,000 miles on it. We usually run our cars for 10, 11 years or until they die a natural death. Since we pay cash, we have to wait until we've saved up enough. So that keeps us in our cars for quite a while. When I was growing up Ford was considered a four letter word in our house and Chevy was king! I still prefer GM cars, but Dan was in love with Saturn. Now that they no longer make them, we can finally buy something else! Good luck with your decision. I do love the red one!!

That's an excellent idea... I wish I could be that lucky to stumble on to something like that. I will talk about my car buying woes below... popcorn::

That Eyeore bag is adorable!! He's such a lovable character anyway, and you did an amazing job capturing his "spirit"! The lining fabric is perfect! Great job, you!!!

Thanks Lois. :lovestruc

How did it go with Allie meeting Gus' parents?? Funny he didn't like the veggie pizza.

Well, it didn't happen. With out going too public about the details... Alli and Gus are no longer together, pretty sure it's for good this time. He had us all fooled. :(

The bonfire sounds like a lot of fun. We used to do that in my old neighborhood. We would all drift to wherever the fire was. It was impromptu usually and so much fun. Sounds like you have great neighbors!

Hope you have a great day at Target!

Yah - we love our neighbors... They are great fun! I hope you had a great day as well.

I LOVE the Eeyore bag I wish it was mine

I hope you get your flight tickets soon.

An update about my computer. I spent 2 hours on the phone with the company I bought my computer at. They tried fixing it over the phone and by taking over the control of my computer.
After almost 2 hours and nothing had helped. We decided to reset the computer back to fabric settings. That means I lost everything I had on it. It wasn't a problem because I saw this coming a few days ago so I had a backup of all my files.

But it took a lot of time getting my computer back to how I like it to be with all the programs I want on it. I ended up spending 12 hours on the damn computer. First 2 hours on the phone and then 5 hours getting windows update to behave and get download and install all the updates and the rest of the time getting everything back on the computer.

Well now it's all done and I think windows update works as it should.

Thanks Lillian.

What a pain with your computer... but I am so glad you got it figured out - even if it did take a lot of time. I hate having to do things like that, which is why I let Josh do it - it's what he does for a living, he can usually wipe our computer and have it back up in 30 minutes... It's nice, and I fully admit I am spoiled. I've been known to crash our computer from time to time. ::yes::

I wish I was tall enough to wear a maxi dress. Peyton wanted one for back to school last year so I ordered it off of Old Navy. When it came in we had to have it hemmed because it dragged on the floor. Poor baby, I think she got my height instead of her dad's.

Hope Target goes well today!

I am a relatively short person (5'4") - so I was surprised that this dress wasn't too big on me. Granted, I do wear it with my new red sandals, so they give me a little more height, which helps.

I had a long post almost typed and lost it somewhere in cyberspace how annoying!!!

Sounds like you and I had the same luck yesterday. :badpc:

That's where I am at... The price difference between a new car and a used car is very minimal... and most new cars come with power everything standard, so I wouldn't be sacraficing much to get into a new car. It's just that we are SOOOO far apart on the value of my trade-in, I am not sure if it will work at this time. :confused3

Welcome Emilie!!!!!!!!! So glad to have you here... Phew! I admire you for even tackling this thread, great job! :woohoo: I don't know that I would even go back and read it. LOL So, major kudos to you. Thanks for all your compliments - that means a lot to me. :lovestruc

I just have a few questions if you don't mind, what was the exsact model on your embroidery machine? You probably said it somewhere but I couldnt find it. What pattern did you use for the skirt? OK - so my embroidery machine is a Brother PE770. But, just so you know, I don't ever use it for any of my bag stuff, sometimes the occasional zipper pull, but everything I do for my bags is done by the hand applique process. Just want to make sure you know that. But - the 770 is a great machine and I am so glad I have it, I'd highly recommend that one - it's what most people use, and it's easiest because of the USB feature.

The skirt pattern I used it this one: http://www.sewserendipity.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_41&products_id=136

I've used several of her patterns... I've made a few of her dresses (Juliet, Monique and Claire) plus the skirt... They are excellent patterns and turn out very nicely. The picture of me in the very first post in this thread is the Juliet dress. :thumbsup2

And finally - I do all of my auctions from my facebook fanpage... I will pM you the link.

Again, thanks for taking the time to read through this thread, that was so nice of you.

**********************************************************

Again - I am so sorry I didn't do yesterday's replies over. I just don't have the time.

I did go test drive a 2014 Edge on Monday... I really loved it. Something I've realized with my car looking, is that there are only 3 cars that fit the size needs of our family with out being too big/small. The Chevy Equoinox, the GMC Terrain, and the Ford Edge. The Chevy is out (Josh won't let me buy a chevy)... I am not sure I love anything about the Terrain, besides the color and the interior. And I know the Edge is just perfect for us - the only thing I don't like are the available colors... Not that they are bad, but there are several others I would like more. But, after my test drive - and after some number crunching... The dealership is about $3500 too low on their trade in offer - so if we can't get that number up, I will not be getting a new car. I won't budge on what my car is worth - so I am pretty sure that a trade in won't happen. Which is OK - I do really like my car, the only reason I would trade it, is because I want the warranty. So, we will see... They may come back and make us another offer on my car? Otherwise, no loss to me. :thumbsup2

Target went well yesterday. I received my yearly review, and I also received a raise, a decent raise - considering that I only work 1 day a week there. So, I am happy with that.

Today, I will be appliqueing all day. I also hope to take a few moments at the end of my day to finish my last skirt. It won't take me long to do, I just need to do it.

I hope all of you have a wonderful day... Sending out prayers and pixie dust to all of you.

D~

I am sure they will come back to you.. They want your business!

HOOOOOOORAYYYYYYYY for a raise! I am SO HAPPY-PROUD!!!
:yay: :woohoo: :hyper:  :dance3:

That's fantastic news!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I guess you just have to wait and see if you get a better offer for trading your car.

Congratulation for the raise. :cool1:

If you were considering a Terrain, I would urge you to look at the Ford Escape. We have 2 older models - mine is 12 years old and C's is 10 years old, both are still in good shape even though they both have over 150,000 miles on them. We are looking to trade (or sell) the 2002 and get something newer, but that's only because its time. At work, we lease 2 brand new Escapes - and I love driving them. The newer models are so much nicer than the ones I own. I don't blame you for holding out on what you know your car is worth. Its not like you HAVE to trade it at this point.

Also, I owned a Ford Escort wagon (probably a 1994), bought used with about 40,000 miles on it. I drove it until it had 199,000 miles and only traded it in when it needed the transmission replaced. I was afraid that that would just be the first of many things to start acting up on it. I loved that car and ended up buying another Escort - which Shannon is now driving.

Congrats on the good review and raise!

42 days!!!:dance3:

That happened to us one time when the dealer wouldn't give much on our trade in. We sold it outright on our own in just a week and got exactly what we wanted for it. That may be an option for you.

Yay for a raise!!:cool1: That's always a good day! You sure deserve it.

I know what you mean about being spoiled having a computer whizz for a husband! I told Dan he's making me co-dependent because I don't bother to learn enough to help myself when something goes wrong.:rotfl: I just call on my favorite IT guy and it gets magically fixed!pixiedust:

Well, I'm off to the hospital and hopefully will be bringing my Mom home today. And hopefully the sun that is out right now will melt this doggone snow!!! Enough already!!! Have a fantastic day!

:cool1: Yay for the raise!!!! :cool1:

I totally understand about the car. You want what it's worth and thats that. I'm just glad you pay attention to that. You wouldn't believe how many people just care about payment. It doesn't matter what they are getting for their trade, what interest rate, or how many months.....they just care about payment. That's how people get in upsidedown. Good for you. Stick to your guns and if they want your business, they will call you.

I am sure they will come back to you.. They want your business!

That's fantastic news!!!

They called back last night... Josh told him we are waiting until fall. I think that's a smart choice, as much as I WANT a new car - it's not a NEED right now.

I guess you just have to wait and see if you get a better offer for trading your car.

Congratulation for the raise.

Yes, but I think we are waiting until fall? We'll see... And thank you. :lovestruc

Exactly... It's not as if I need to trade my car right this moment... It's no loss to me if I have to hold out for a better deal. :thumbsup2

I did look at the Escape when I was at the dealership - but the back seat is too small for the girls - Alli especially and her long legs.

That happened to us one time when the dealer wouldn't give much on our trade in. We sold it outright on our own in just a week and got exactly what we wanted for it. That may be an option for you.

I've considered doing that - and it's possible we will. I think we want to get through summer.

Yay for a raise!! That's always a good day! You sure deserve it.

Awww... Thanks! :thumbsup2

Yah - LOL - thankfully I look over his shoulder all the time, so I am pretty smart when it comes to most things. It's only the hard stuff I need him for. LOL

Well, I'm off to the hospital and hopefully will be bringing my Mom home today. And hopefully the sun that is out right now will melt this doggone snow!!! Enough already!!! Have a fantastic day!

Uh-oh... I need to go stalk your TR... I missed this!!!! I hope that whatever was wrong with your mom is OK now.

just popping in to say

Hi Raina!!! Thanks for stopping by! It's great to see you! :lovestruc

Yay for the raise!!!!

Exactly... All if it is important. Hopefully we are able to work out a deal - but I am honestly not that heartbroken about it - I truly like my car a lot.

**********************************************************

I had a great/productive day yesterday.

I was able to cut out and completely stitch the applique for this week's custom order. The applique looks super simple, but upon further inspection - you will see that it's actually very difficult and tedious, but I am SUPER HAPPY with how it turned out! :thumbsup2 Very excited about it - actually!

Then, I was able to finish my last skirt! I am very happy about that one, as well... It's very bright and FUN!

Today, I am going to be working on my custom order assembly - hoping to finish it today. The girls are off of school tomorrow for Good Friday, and I'd love to spend some time with them.

Disney update:

So, as all of you know - I no longer get my Team Member/Pharmacy Rewards on my Disney Gift Card purchases. This has REALLY affected our trip budget and actually jeopardized our trip. Both BFF and I have been trying to "think outside the box" and figure out other ways to make our trip budget fall back into alignment.

One thing we are seriously considering - and almost certainly going to do - is to switch to a Deluxe resort and share a room. This is not an optimal situation for us - but it still allows the trip to happen - which is the main concern.

A few benefits - budget wise - BFF will be able to "piggy back" on our Free Dining offer, if we share a room. This is HUGE. I also just figured out the savings, and it's a total savings of $1200 between the 2 of us!!!

Another benefit - one of the resorts we are considering is a Monorail resort. Our arrival night is scheduled in MK - this would make getting there and getting back to the resort at a nice time easily doable.

Thirdly... Our water park nights, we have dinner ADRs scheduled. One at Chef Mickey's and another at 1900 PF... This makes these dinners VERY hassle free and easy to just go and not have to worry about the 1 hour travel time both directions and transferring at MK. :thumbsup2

Now, a few drawbacks...

Certainly - we will have nowhere to "get away" from eachother. This could be problematic on many levels. As you all know, my girls don't always get along - add a 3rd teen girl to the mix and it could get downright UGLY! I've instilled certain rules upon my girls while vacationing - and for the most part - they are good about it. We will have to bring O and BFF into the loop on this. As there is NO FIGHTING allowed - ever... But most especially - not in the room.

We will have to work out shower times ahead of time, essentially - you miss your time, no shower for you. LOL popcorn:: The girls and I usually do really well with this and have no issues... They like to shower at night - and no one else is CRAZY enough to get up as early as I do, so the mornings work well for me. Now, we need to squish R and O into that time table.

Also, the last drawback... Once I change my mind and cancel my FQ reservation - there is NO turning back. I cannot change my mind again, as you all know FQ fills fast and I am certain, once I cancel - it will be snatched up. So, I need to be certain about this, and be certain about this quickly. Who knows, maybe the resort we are considering is already gone?

I am actually kind of excited about this change, I have always wanted to stay at a deluxe resort, so this would give me a taste, yet still be with in my budget.

So, the resorts under consideration...

Grand Floridian...

Beach Club...

Anyways... I will keep you all updated... :wizard:

I hope you all have a fantastic day... Sending out prayers andd big hugs to all who need it. :grouphug:

D~

What about AoA?
It sleeps 6 and has 2 BATHROOMS!!! Much cheaper then a deluxe.. Yet i know how much you want to stay at a deluxe. but your looking to save money?!?! this would help.

just a thought.

Can't wait to see your new creation!!!! :cool1:

5 grownups in a hotel room sounds cramped. The drawbacks looks like a bigger concern than what you get out of the benefits. You really have to think this through before canceling FQ.

They called back last night... Josh told him we are waiting until fall. I think that's a smart choice, as much as I WANT a new car - it's not a NEED right now.
Trading in a car can be so stressful. We just traded in our SUV to get our mini van. Buick dealer wanted to give a nice trade in but I did not like the SUV we went in to look at. We did use that number to get the honda dealer up to match it.

Good luck with picking the resort. Beach club is easy to epoct. I stayed at BC when I had a work conference at the yacht club. I was not a fan of the pool. I don't think my girls were either. It was too far to get to the slide, you had to leave the pool area which meant that DH had to go with them every time unlike the other pools that they just go up and down the slide all day.

You can also look into the family suites at ASMu or the Art of animation. Not sure how that would work with your free dining, but the family suites at ASMu has 2 bathrooms.

Sorry about the trade in value on your car. You're in the best position though, you don't need to buy a car so you can be picky and you hold all the power. The colors on the Edge are nothing to get excited about, for sure. I refuse to drive a white car and I don't really like black, I traded in a silver car and I do like to change up the color when getting a new car. I ended up with the brown Edge because it was the cheapest Edge on the lot with leather interior. :)

Between Beach Club and Grand Floridian, I'd go with Beach Club (we've never stayed at either). I like the walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios and the pool is supposed to be great. Although, I think you guys are more Magic Kingdom people than Epcot people, so that might make Grand Floridian a better choice for you. I'd rather stay at Contemporary or Polynesian than Grand Floridian if we were going to stay at a monorail resort, but that's just personal preference :goodvibes Either way, the savings are huge, as long as you don't think you'd be too cramped. I'm thinking you guys will have a lot of luggage with 5 girls traveling! Good luck making a decision and making a decision quickly! I'd buckle under the pressure - I'm so indecisive.

Sorry to hear about Alli and Gus, although it seems like it is for the best.

Yes, saving $$ is one thing - one major thing, but I don't know that I can handle sleeping on a pull-out bed/table bed for a week? Plus, one of those beds would have to be shared, as well. :confused3

I know - it does sound cramped. But we are kind of at a loss of what to do? We don't spend a ton of time in our room, mostly just to sleep.

Trading in a car can be so stressful. We just traded in our SUV to get our mini van. Buick dealer wanted to give a nice trade in but I did not like the SUV we went in to look at. We did use that number to get the honda dealer up to match it.

Yes, that is a huge factor too - only AoA is included in our FD offer. We are truly stuck. Sigh. I am so stressed about this.

We had 4 adults in a BC garden view room last October & I def would never do it again, too cramped!!

This does not sit well with me. LOL I guess, the only way we are going to find out, is to do it. But wow... I am so hesitant to try. We have not switched our reservatons yet, but we are close. As much as I would love to stay at GF, I am also nervous that it will be too snooty for us? We are fun people who really enjoy dressing up for Disney - and I can only imagine the looks we may get at the bus stop.

That is kind of the boat I am in... We'd like a monorail resort. The problem is... The Contemporary has the vanity/tub/toilet all in one room, and with all of us trying to get ready in the morning, I just don't see any way that this resort could even be a consideration for us?

I would LOVE to stay at the Poly - but it's under construction right now, and I am just not sure it's worth staying there? I haven't read anything about the construction - but most people advise against it. But it is a dream resort for me.

Finally, there is the GF... The rooms are bigger... The vanity is in a seperate room from the tub/toilet... This is really the only resort on the monorail which would work for us. But I am so nervous about the snootiness of the resort - that is not like us at all, and I am not sure it would work? :crazy2:

Sigh - I just don't know what to do?

**********************************************************

Well, I finished my custom order bag yesterday. I just have the wallet to do this morning.

I am taking Alli to the MOA tomorrow for part of her birthday celebration. :cheer2:

Saturday, we are going to have Easter with Josh's family. :woohoo: It looks like I get to wear one of my skirts for the first time! Yay!

Sunday, we are headed to my Dad's to spend Easter with him. :flower3:

**********************************************************

Disney stuff - again!

I am sooooo struggling with our trip. We have not changed our reservations yet, but I just don't know what to do.

We all think we can make it work - except for V - and the only reason V doesn't want to switch is because of her beloved FQ (I must say that we all feel the same about it)... I don't blame her. I would prefer to have our own room at FQ too.

But I am getting pressure from BFF - because this is a HUGE deal for her too... If we don't share a room at GF, then she has to pay for her dining - which we all know is a huge expense. So, she really wants this switch.

Alli really wants to stay at GF too - it's a dream resort for her.

O really doesn't have an opinion, as long as we go.

And me - well - I can see the benefits and the disadvantages... And I just don't know what to do? I am at my whitts end!!!! I feel like I am getting it from all sides.

Grrrrr....

The more I think about it, the more I am panicking... The numbers really don't change that much for me... But I NEED to find a way to save BFF some $$. I am totally out of ideas...

Anyways... I hope you all have a fabulous day! Sending out prayers and good thoughts to all of you! :grouphug:

First off - we have stayed at the BC many times with our family of five, all teenagers or young adults in the later years, and never had a problem with handling the space. The daybed is comfy, the same size as a twin bed, I believe. And if you wanted to stay in a deluxe, the GF would work very well logically. You have a lot of ADR's in that area. Do not for a minute worry about "snooty-ness" factor. You have no control whatsoever over what people may or may not think of you. And you will never see them again, so what does it matter? :confused3

That being said, it sounds as if you are sacrificing your vacation for BFF. What if she stays at a value and you plan to eat less meals together?

I agree with Wood Nymph that it sounds like you are sacrificing your vacation for BFF. But I can understand you doing so if that's the only way your BFF is going with you on this trip.

Happy Easter to you and your family :goodvibes

I really struggle with these kind of decisions as well. I would just remember, that although you want BFF to have a great trip, this is your vacation. And the only trip you and the girls get this year - so you need to do what is going to make it worth the saving and sacrifice you are putting into it.

The Poly is definitely my dream resort - but I had forgotten about the construction. I didn't realize the difference in bathrooms between GF and Contemporary - you've definitely done your homework :goodvibes

The convenience factor of the monorail is huge - but it sounds like you are like me - GF just isn't really your speed or comfort level. If you give up your home at POFQ, take into consideration which resort you will enjoy more and feel more comfortable at. Don't worry about what the other guests will think, but do think about where you will be more comfortable. The monorail is a great perk, but you've been planning on bus transportation from POFQ, so not staying on the monorail isn't a sacrifice.

I don't want you to make a decision that benefits BFF at the expense of having the vacation you want, especially will all the work and sacrifice you put into making the trip a reality.

Good luck making this decision!

Ummm Hi!:wave2:

I totally get trying to pacify your friends as was in the same boat. BUT!
there is always a but..
I understand your trying to be a good friend. Honestly you don't have to TRY to be a good friend you just ARE a good friend. It sounds as if your pushing YOUR family's desires to the side?
There has to be a happy medium. I honestly couldn't share a room with another family. You have to be able to have your down time.

Sorry i am not much help. I want for YOU and the girls to have a magical trip not have to sacrifice anything!!! :flower3:

Love you!!!
