Sew much to do, sew little time - but it was worth it! New PTR link posted! ~~~~~~~~~

Anyways... Here's a photo of the remainder of our desserts:

Alexa saw this photo and said "ewwwww"! Then I showed her the before photo and she was much more impressed.

Boo on Elaine! :snooty:

Boo on the foreigner too! I would have gone up to him and started speaking a made up foreign language and pointed at his crotch or something to embarrass him. I have done a lot of traveling and generally find most foreigners to be very kind -- I wonder where he was from that he was so rude:confused3

And I already know whether or not your rode ToT -- and I don't even FB! I think there was a leak on you ptr but I can't recall the source.

Sorry, D...didn't realize I had my inbox set to save messages I had sent...wow...there was a lot to clear out! LOL!+

I just subscribed! I read all of your updates so far between last night and this morning :thumbsup2
I can't believe Elaine didn't do anything silly at lunch! I would be pretty annoyed at that, because if I were to eat there...it would be just to experience the atmosphere that I have read so much about! And even though she was polite while you were dining, I still would consider her rude, just for the 'warning' she gave you in the beginning that they don't like to be told what to do. Do they not like it when you request a glass of water either? Really...as a cast member, it is her JOB to play a part, and she failed to perform for your family.
I am itching to know what the stroller story is too!
But...the pixie dusting of TSM FP's is awesome! So nice when people go a little bit out of their way to make someone else's day happier! :goodvibes:goodvibes

Great DHS updates. Boy is it still difficult to write DHS. We still call it MGM at home. Too bad Elaine wasn't fun with your table too at 50's PTC. I love marshmellows, but that smores doesn't look very appetizing. The brownie on the other hand looks great! I want to know the stroller story now too, lol! That's odd about the man and the bag. Sorry you felt uncomfortable. Did you have to sit in their row during the ride? Glad they liked Star Tours.

Oh, I forgot to mention - your sewing skills are ahhhh-mazing! I had actually seen your AG dresses while browsing etsy and thought they were adorable, of course, and then I happened upon your PTR and was like "wait...this is the woman that does the amazing AG dresses!" So I was excited to see more of your creations. I was just browsing through your PTR again a few minutes ago, and I realized that I had never even looked at your ultimate park bags! So of course I googled and re-found your etsy and browsed again and looked at all of the bags you listed in your PTR. Again...amazing! I am so impressed.
I can sew, but not like you sew..I basically can sew enough to do some simple dresses for my dd, but your work is an inspiration!

Sorry I am gushing, I just can't get over the creativity, time and love you put into your work. The ultimate park bag is fantastic, you can tell that you aren't just someone that sews a bag that happens to be disney related, but that you are a true disney parks lover, as the bag is tailor made with everything a mom (or any woman) would want for a day at WDW!:cheer2:

Max is still doing pretty well with potty training. He went the entire day on Friday with out any accidents in the house. Yesterday, he had a couple - so we are still working on it. He is also starting to show some signs of aggression - and I am not sure what to do about it - since his breed doesn't have aggression issues normally. I did some reading about it online last night, and I think that part of it stems with how the girls and I play with him - not that we play with him badly - but the games we play (tug of war and similar) encourage him to "fight" per say. Pretty much - the games we played with Rufus aren't suitable to a puppy - yet. Anyways, another thing we do, that we probably shouldn't, is that when he gets into something, we just pick him up and move him - which is starting to initiate a flight instinct (how are we supposed to know all of this? Raising a puppy is like a crash course in child psycology), so when we want to take something away - it results in him running away with it - then it becomes a game of chase. It's so frustrating. He got a hold of something he wasn't supposed to have last night, so V picked him up and he started flailing and attacking her wildly - of course - I reached out and held his muzzle closed - and he bit me - broke skin and a bled a bit. I was quite pissed at him, actually - so I ignored him for the rest of the evening - which was probably closest to the right thing to do. I talked to Josh a bit about it last night, and we really need to have a family meeting about Max. We all need to be on the exact same page about how we handle situations - and none of that can be deviated from. So, we plan to do that today - as I won't have an aggressive dog - especially one that was created by us not raising him right... Who knew?

You know, the part I don't understand, is that we know that Rufus was abused as a puppy. We are not sure if it was by the owners of his mother, or if there was another owner in there that had him before our former next-door neighbors. The reason we know this, is that he had a fear of a lot of things, but most of all loud noises - last summer/fall, when we brought him into the vet, the vet xrayed him and discovered that he had 2 BBs in him - so he was shot - the vet suspected that they had been in there for years. I guess, what I am getting at - is even though Rufus was abused - he was an amazing dog...

I thought, when we got Max, that because we were good Rufus owners, that we would automatically be good dog owners, and maybe that's not the case? I just don't get it? I am totally committed to fixing what we may have unintentionally wrecked - but I just don't understand how we went wrong. Does that make sense?

Sorry about the boring puppy talk, and am just typing and trying to sort things out in my head.

D~
Oh the puppy stage, gotta love it. I am by no means an expert in raising puppies/dogs, but here is what I think. (I know, I know, you didn't ask for my opinion, right? :lmao:) I think the stuff you described above is more related to MM being a 3 month old (or thereabouts) puppy. It sounds like he is starting to test the boundaries of what he can get away with. He is also trying to figure out his place in the 'pack'. I don't think it is aggression per se, but I agree with you when you say you need to deal with it now because it can turn into aggression if left unchecked. We played really short games of tug (60-90 seconds) with Buffy when she was a pup and she is not aggressive at all. As soon as she started showing any sign other than playfulness we stopped. "Wrestling/rough-housing" was the same, any sign of it being more than play meant it stopped.

As for him getting into stuff he shouldn't, I would use redirection rather than picking him up or having him turn it into a game of chase (puppies love chase!). I also remember our trainer telling us not to hold their muzzle closed as it makes them struggle more. Does MM have a favourite toy? Favourite treat? Get his attention, show him the toy or treat and have him come to you to get it. Another way to deal with it is the bitter apple spray. If it is something he always goes after, say like shoes, spray them with the bitter apple. He will soon learn that they taste bad and will leave them alone. If it is different things he goes after, then you have to try to spray a little in his mouth while he has the item in his mouth. I am so glad my DH never video taped me walking backwards to Buffy and then spinning around to spray her when she had something she wasn't supposed to! :rotfl: It must have been quite comical to watch!

I also agree with you in having a family meeting to discuss Max and make sure everyone deals with him in the same manner. Consistency in the application of the rules, discipline and rewards is huge. MM will learn that he is on the lowest rung of the ladder and must listen to everyone. To me, it sounds like you know what you have to do to make MM into a well behaved, well adjusted and well loved dog and are doing it. Raising a puppy is very similar to raising children and you have two awesome girls :lovestruc so I don't think you will do wrong by Max either.

Poor Rufus! I just don't understand why people abuse animals. :confused3 And for someone to have shot him! :scared1: I am so glad that you guys brought him into your lives and showed him love. From the pictures you have posted, you can certainly see that he understood it and gave it back. :lovestruc

It might just be me, but I don't find puppy talk to be boring. As you said, you are just trying to sort it out. And I think there are several people here who can tell you about their experiences and help out a bit. Every piece of knowledge you gain helps. At least, that is how I see it and I know I have learned so much from reading about the experiences of others on these boards.

I loved your update on 50's Prime Time! We ate there on our first trip and absolutely loved it. We went this time too and I must say that the experience was not quite the same. Although, I think a lot of that was more related to the fact that they 'lost' our check in. We had never waited more than 10 minutes to be seated the entire week. After waiting for 30 minutes and seeing several groups larger than ours (who came in after us) be seated, I went back up and they told me I hadn't checked in yet. And since it was 25 minutes after our reservation time, it would be awhile before we were seated. I am usually a very patient and accommodating person having spent 20+ years in the food service business, but needless to say, I was not impressed. Funny thing was, after about 5 minutes of them messing around on the computer looking for our reservation, one of the other ladies who was checking people in 'found' our slip from when we originally checked in. After we got past that, we had a fabulous server and the meals were excellent. Too bad about your server. Not sure why she didn't get right into it with you guys.

I just subscribed! I read all of your updates so far between last night and this morning :thumbsup2

Welcome!!! Yah - I was a bit bummed by Elaine, but I just sat there and watched her rub it in via the other family... :confused3 I could complain to Disney - but I already sent a really long email about the nasty bathrooms we encountered everywhere (but the resorts - OK take that back, the Poly bathrooms were awful)... So, I am not sure if they would take my complaint about Elaine seriously. My only hope is that some day - a Diser will go in there and say "Elaine... Hmmm... that sound familiar - I know you" :) LGMHs unite! popcorn::

Yes, the TSM FPs were a nice touch - I am glad we got to ride it afterall.

LOL - I still have to watch myself when I am typing it - because I want to type MGM. :rolleyes1 Yah - that Smores dessert really wasn't that great at all. Now those brownies... I think I need to recreate them at home!

We did not have to sit in the same row as the guys... It was actually a group of teenage/young men - I assume they were from an Aisian country and speaking an Aisian language - but I am not sure. We enountered them several times over the next hour, and they were really being obnoxious where ever they went. I think we finally ditched them when we got in line for Woody and Buzz.

Oh, I forgot to mention - your sewing skills are ahhhh-mazing! Thank you! I am not sure what to say - except wow... After all that you said - you almost convinced me to buy one of my bags! :worship: I might have to save your review to publish at a later date, with the rest of them. :lovestruc

I am so glad you are enjoying my TR and now my PTR - I loved doing my PTR so much and I really miss it. I think I want to plan another trip just so I can do another PTR. :thumbsup2

I hope you'll continue to follow along and participate! :woohoo:

Thank you for all the knowledge Loree... I do agree with you that he is being a puppy - but in the same respect, those teeth don't get any smaller as he grows. So, we better take care of it now!

Yah - I am bummed about Elaine - I should have spoke up - but no, I tipped her like a nice person and went on my merry way... She did give me address labels, so I can send the picture she took of us to put in her family album... I could always send a note with it and attach all of your anonymous comments??? ROFL :rolleyes1

So, before we left for our trip, I received a package in the mail from someone else that I know in NC. :thumbsup2

This particular package came during a very sad time for our family - it was the week that we had to put Rufus to sleep - only one month ago (tomorrow) and so many things have happened since, it feels like so much longer since we have been with out our beloved Ruf.

This particular package also meant more to me than you could ever know, it wasn't what was inside that held so much meaning, but it was the thought and the gift of giving that meant so much, and the fact that it came from a family who was also going through a difficult time - yet this mom had taken the time and thought of me. Me? Such a selfless act that really brought me comfort. :lovestruc

I was so shocked and honored when this little surprise came in the mail, it moved me to tears.

I wanted to take a moment to thank Judy and her family - from the very bottom of my heart for thinking of me and taking the time to send me a beautiful card and a little something to let me know that I was being thought of.

And what was in that package, you ask?

Judy was out and about, she saw this gorgeous fabric - and thought of me... And I must agree - it is perfect! See...
IMG_4894.jpg

So, from the very bottom of my heart... Thank you Judy! Your kindness and generosity warms my heart and I am so grateful to call you my friend.

I guess, this is the part that I am so puzzled with. I don't know what to do with this fabric? I would like suggestions - honestly - I would really like to do something special with it, but I just don't know what? :confused3

D~

love that fabric from Judy. I have no clue what you should do with the fabric I love it.

Hi! :) Enjoyed the new updates. Since you asked I'll give you our version of the stroller story. Despite the amount of attention I think we drew there's not a whole lot to the story.

We arrived at 50's already a little frazzled (at least I was frazzled) because I decided that we had enough time to use our Star Tours fastpasses before our ADR. We showed up a few minutes past our ADR. DW and the rest of our family went inside to check us in while I parked and covered the stroller. The rain was just starting and it took me a few minutes to get the rain cover on the stroller. I was pretty wet by the time I was done and now more frazzled.

When I went inside, DW was all excited and said that the CM at the podium had said we could bring our stroller in. I questioned this since we have a city mini double and the things huge. She said that she had told them how big it was and they told her to bring it. So, I now went out into the full force of the rain to uncover our stroller and bring it inside.

We got to our first table and of course the stroller took up too much space. It fit by our table but blocked too much of the walkway according to our server. DW decided that this would be a good time to argue with our server about it even though DS was awake and wouldn't have been happy in the stroller anyway. I was not a whole lot of help at this point since I was very frazzled at this point and just wanted the whole affair to be done with. By the time our server and I think a few others decided we needed to move tables, DD had found the sugar packets and managed to spread them across the table and floor. I think I was about at my breaking point.

Having you say hi to us distracted me from my frazzled state and the rest of the meal actually went much better. :) Still, I think our server could tell we were having a bit of a rough afternoon and didn't play with us much, which was probably a good thing.

And that's pretty much it. :)

I learned something new today...

You see - when I got Patience, she came with all these really cool attachments. Most of which, I had never seen before. And most of them, I had no clue how to use - but I really wanted to learn...

One of them, was her button holer attachment. Now, if you have ever seen or used one of these - you know they look pretty menacing. Quite the contraption - considering they were made for straight stitch machines, and everyone knows that you need to be able to zig-zag to make a button hole. So, instead of moving the needle back and forth - this button holer attachment moves the fabric back and forth. Cool eh?

I've never used one. But, you all know that I am a firm believer in manual reading (and vintage machine sewing - what's better than a vintage machine manual? :confused3) So, again, I read my manual - some pages I had to read 3 or 4 times to make sure I understood the directions.

OK - let me back up a minute - first I have to show you the crappy button hole that prompted the learning of the button holer attachment... Isn't it awful? Yuck! Sometimes I hate myself for being a perfectionist.
IMG_4892.jpg

Then, of course, I have to show you pictures of Patience sporting her new to me (not her, because she came with it - again - a case of Patience teaching me a thing or two about sewing...) button holer attachment:
IMG_4889.jpg

Pretty creepy and intimidating - huh?
IMG_4890.jpg

But seriously, check out the very first 2 button holes I made with it... AMAZING - right?
IMG_4893.jpg

And then the button hole on the actual mini-project I was working on:
IMG_4891.jpg

LOOOOVE IT!

Oh and the finished project... Little treat bags for MM... They're so cute!

I dunno either... I was thinking of making myself an awesome bag for my sewing stuff - but I never bring it anywhere. :confused3

OK first - let me say that I don't know your first name... and I feel strange shortening your user name and calling you "Child" since I know you're a full grown man... :rolleyes1

Anyways - with that out of the way... I don't think you drew a lot of attention for yourselves - other than for the abnormally nosey Diser sitting behind you. popcorn:: I am very glad that the rest of your meal went well.

I could shed a bit of light on the CM that told you that you could bring your stroller inside... If it's the same CM that checked us in... She told me that she was very new to 50's and didn't know who the "fun servers" were, and that's why she noted it on our card. If it's the same CM - sounds like she made a day of innocent "mistakes". :wizard:

I couldn't believe how hard it was pouring when we first went to go outside - that's when we detoured to hit the restroom first... by then, it had let up enough to brave the little drops. I can't believe you were out there trying to cover up your stroller in that madness! Gulp.

OK - I better go - Josh is making rib eye steaks on the grill for dinner - and I need to go see if there is anything I can help out with. :lovestruc

what's the deal with the lime green mickey heads? I had not heard of that before your ptr!

I think you should make two "bulletin board like" frames with it. One an inspiration board where you put idea pictures, scraps of fabric, little notes about projects, my photograph, etc.

On the other board put photos of completed projects, 'thank yous', first try appliques, my photograph, etc.

Like this -- which I did NOT make, I just borrowed from google in case my word picture didn't quite get it across.

Very nice! I second this suggestion.

Love the fabric too! What a very nice thing for Judy to do. Judy, you are such a sweetheart!

Mmmm, steak. :) That makes sense if it was a new CM. My first name is Dave. :)

Love your updates. Your RNRC reminds me how mad DD was at me for not telling her it went upside down twice:confused3 I told her I didn't remember.

Glad you were PD with FB for TSM.... like all my acronyms:lmao: We did that to a family walking in the parking lot last year. We just weren't going to make the return time so we handed them 4.

Too bad about your server....you should have put her in the corner:mad:

Like this -- which I did NOT make, I just borrowed from google in case my word picture didn't quite get it across.

:scared1: Uh-Oh.... I was going to suggest framing the fabric. Does this mean I am starting to think like Cheryl and will soon have little Gingers running around:rotfl2:

I learned something new today...

Oh and the finished project... Little treat bags for MM... They're so cute!
