~~ Sew hot, Hot, HOT! ~~ A sweltering Aug 2013 TR ~ Pre-Trippie link posted! ~ 10/31!

V your breakfast at ohanas sounds just like ours. I believe we waited about 25 minutes for our food.

Yah - I was sort of annoyed at first, but the more I think back on it, the more I think it would be better to have all our meals that way. Because it was more annoying to me, to have to wait to eat at the buffets and time our trips to the buffets so we didn't miss them.

Oh that bag is fantastic....I love it!! When you have no talent at all you tend to marvel at people who do......you do amazing work!

Thank you very much! I am sure you have many of your own talents.:thumbsup2

Oh man, I love he fairy godmother bag!

I appologize for my messages that sometimes just don't make sense. I am on the iPad and it is always missing letters or darn autocorrect.

Thanks - I am glad you like it. I was so happy with how her facial expression turned out.

No worries about the strange posts - I figured that.

I am good life has gone insane again.

We have dance again so lotsof driving. More on that soon.

Love the newest bag and I cant wait to see your latest project.

Thanks Chiara!

Love the bag! Great fabric! Where do you find most your fabrics?

Thanks! I buy most of my fabrics on line - on Etsy to be specific... I like that it's easy to find the fabrics I want there and then I can shop around for the best prices/shipping.

Gorgeous bag!!! You really did capture her expression so well in this one! I absolutely love the magic wand on the wallet!!

Thanks! It turned out great!

I get more and more excited because I only have about a month and a half left to wait for mine!!!

Yay!!!

D, it is so hard to pick a favorite photopass picture because each one is so great! I am loving them.

Love the Fairy Godmother bag!!!

Thanks Kathy! I love photopass!

LOVE the fairy Godmother bag!

I wish I had as much talent as you have in your little finger! I would be one happy lady if I did!

Great photos of the girls with both Vidia and Tinkerbell.

Thanks! I am very happy with it! I love our photopass pictures too - we were able to get quite a few good ones.

So there aren't any plans for an ultimate park shirt or shorts?

Hahaha... Now there's an idea!

Gaston looks hilarious. I wonder if doing an eyebrow raise was part of the audition, because he really nailed it. Your gear really seems to be attracting the pixie dust, that's awesome.

I dunno - but he is fantastic at it. LOL I couldn't believe how much fabulous Pixie Dust we got from our gear - it was so FUN!

Love your PP pictures with the fairies! The line for Tink is always SOOOO long! I really want to meet her this trip. I'm just going to have to find a way to make it work!

It is - it had to be one of the worst lines we waited in for the entire trip... Ahhh take that back - there is one more coming - but that's much later. LOL

Fairy Godmother bag is adorable...as usual! I especially love the magic wand and "sparkles" on the zip wallet. Just adorable!

Thank you! I agree that it turned out great - and I don't say that often. LOL

Alli definitely knows how to capture a moment!! Spot on shows the kind of mood you were in and that feeling of being HOME!! And no D~, you are not the only one who does this!! I dance around the room like a giddy little school girl!

I just KNEW I wasn't the only one! WHOOT!

That custom bag is perfect. You completely captured her. The matching wand bag is so adorable.
Just realized I forgot to mention how awesome it was that you saw one of your bags. It kinda reminds me of finding the hidden Mickeys.
Love those PP pictures!!
I hope Josh woke up feeling better.
Have a Happy Monday!!

Thanks Lynee! Yah - that was so cool that I got to see one of my bags - it was so surreal! Josh is getting there... He is still walking crooked... I hope he stops by the Dr. again today - they'll probably just give him more meds. Sigh. I hope you have a great week too!

**********************************************************

I spent the entire day in my sewing room yesterday... My one item took MUCH longer to finish than I thought it would. But I did finish it - and overall - I am very happy with it... It's not as cute on me as I dreamed it would be - but that's more due to ME than the item itself. However - BOTH girls love it... So, maybe I will talk one of them into taking photos soon. I have more on my list though. :thumbsup2

In the end... I still didn't clean my sewing room... So, I need to do that this morning - after I make the camera strap (that I forgot to make) to go with the Fairy Godmother bag set. :rolleyes1

Today I will be starting my next bag order - I am very excited about it because the fabrics are pretty cool.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

D~

Good Morning D!

I love the "capture the moment" Pictures Alli took of you! It really does scream "Finally we're Home"!:cool1:

You have been a busy lady in your sewing room, the fairy Godmother bag is adorable!

I miss WDW so much right now.....:rolleyes1 I haven't changed my ticker yet because I hate when the countdown seems so far away.

We had just finished our breakfast at 'Ohana, the girls and I decided the best way to get to where we were going was a direct bus from the Poly to DTD. :thumbsup2

Perfect - I am getting pretty good at this whole Disney Transportation thing.

We arrived at DTD...

IMG_0894.jpg

IMG_0895.jpg

Then we took the boat to the West Side.

IMG_0897.jpg

IMG_0898.jpg

IMG_0899.jpg

There was store here Allison wanted to visit called Curl. She purchased one item with the last of her own cash she had brought with. It was not a wise purchase IMO - but it wasn't my $$, so I wasn't going to second guess her.

From there, we decided to get more use out of our WPF&M passes and use one to go into Disney Quest...

Now, let me preface this adventure with... We have NEVER been here before. I have never really researched it, so we didn't know exactly what to expect.

First - we happened to find Cyber Space Mountain (build your own coaster) - so the girls did that.

IMG_0901.jpg

They named it the Atomic Banchee.

IMG_0904.jpg

So, then they were able to ride it... Did I mention that DQ was pretty dead? I don't know if it's because it was so early in the day? Or if it's just a dud?

IMG_0905.jpg

The girls boarding their ride vehicle.

IMG_0906.jpg

And a photo of the video screen with them on their ride.

IMG_0911.jpg

IMG_0915.jpg

They opted not to do this again and try something else.

We happened upon the Jungle cruise... Which was really really stupid. IMO. Basically they put you in a raft inside one of those blow up bounce houses, with a movie screen in front of you - and then they keep blowing it up and deflatings it to simulate the ride. It was really dumb.

Then we found Pirates of the Caribbean...

IMG_0916.jpg

Our "ship"

IMG_0919.jpg

We agreed that is one was "cool" <---- According to my notes.

Then the girls did Aladdin... I did not do this one, because I don't like things over my face... but I was kind enough to take photos for the girls. :rolleyes1

IMG_0921.jpg

IMG_0922.jpg

IMG_0923.jpg

Both of the girls decided that Aladdin was "dumb".

After that - we decided to leave. All in all - we thought it was a glorified 80's arcade. I was very happy that I had never purchased stand alone tickets for DQ in the past (it was something Josh REALLY wanted to do on the last trip he did with us in 2008) - as I think they would have been a HUGE waste of $$.

We were going to take the boat back to Marketplace, but we walked over there and they were closing up shop. Bummer... We are going to have to walk.

So we walked... The girls did not want to stop for a photo - but I made them.

IMG_0925.jpg

As we were walking... It started to drip a little bit at Pleasure Island.

Then it started to POUR as we were just getting to the Lego store... so we ran in and through Lego...

Then we darted out of Lego and ran into WoD.

We killed LOTs of time in there. Even though we had just been there a few days ago - we didn't get to see a lot because it was so busy. Now there was hardly anyone in there, so we looked around.

We found the most adorable outfit for Thomas... My new little nephew (born on my Birthday) in The Netherlands... Who could resist this cute little outfit?

20130826_162850.jpg

I also took a photo of a sweatshirt I really wanted... I had a little bit of souvenir $$ left, and I was trying to decide what I really wanted. I didn't want to spend it all right at that moment, because there were a few items I REALLY wanted to buy first.

So, here's the sweatshirt - I loved the colors and everything about it... but there was one thing I didn't like - and that's that it wasn't a "stretchy" sweatshirt - the material had no give to it at all... I hate sweatshirts like that... And for $58 + tax, I opted to leave it behind.

IMG_0929.jpg

After we left WoD, we headed to the ONE place I've been dying to try - thanks to Kathy's TR... Ghiradelli... Mmmmm... At this point, it was still raining, but not the drenching rain it was before. We made it to Ghiradelli only a little soaked. Alli ordered a hot chocolate and V & I split a Hot Fudge Sundae... I tried to get the guy to "pick his favorite" for me - but he just kept telling me that everything was good. UGH - OK fine... So, I had to choose. LOL I think I made a good choice - it was beyond DELICIOUS! They even split it for us in the back.

IMG_0930.jpg

We finished our treats under the awning outside - where it was STILL raining.

20130826_145926.jpg

It took us a little while to find our bus stop - in the rain - it was a bit further away than we had thought, so that kind of sucked. We weren't that wet before - but now we were quite wet.

We boarded our bus headed back to the resort... When we boarded - the bus driver just smiled... What he should have said is "Welcome to the bus ride from hell."

This bus had to have been about 20 years old - it was the oldest Disney bus I have ever seen. We boarded the bus at approx 2:40pm, according to one of my texts.

THEN, we picked up at West Side - no biggie... but we had to sit there for 15 minutes waiting for the non-existant passengers... OK...

Then we had to pick up at Typhoon Lagoon... OK...

Then we drove RIGHT PAST FQ... Sigh... OK...

Then we proceeded to stop at EVERY bus stop at POR... OK...

Finally, we stopped at the South Depot... And we sat there, and we sat there and we sat there... And the bus died. Grrr... You have GOT to be kidding me!

It was now 3:45, we had been on that darned bus for an HOUR - to get from DTD to FQ.

Finally - I told the girls to grab their stuff - we would just walk. :crazy2: So, we did... We walked into our room at exactly 4:05. Sigh...

We just wanted to stay there... but we had made a last minute adjustment to our plans the night before... So we had somewhere to be... :scratchin And we were all very excited about it.

So, we changed our clothes - I changed the Moleskin on my foot... And we were on another bus by 4:30.

Where were we going? What had us so excited?

The last time we stayed at POFQ (two years ago at this exact moment!) We rode the boat....and it started to rain about an hour after we got to DtD. We decided to leave, and rode the boat back. We were the last boat to leave, because half way home it started lightening! The rest of our party was stuck at DtD...and had to ride buses home...I say busES because, even though they did not all leave together, they all had the same experience. Their bus broke down and then had to wait for another bus to come and get them! All the while they were FREEZING because they were soaked...the only thing on the bus that worked was the air! LOL

We left right after lunch...about 1. We had ADRs at Chef Mickey's at 5:30...they barely made it in time!

Which is one of the reasons I like to drive....

Nini

I'm back from girls' weekend and all caught up..

It's good that you are doing shortened updates on the weekends...I can catch up from the stuff that I missed throughout the week....and it will last longer :goodvibes

That bus ride sounds horrific...I hope that kind of thing is the exception rather than the rule, but I think we will be driving a lot anyways to take the scooter thing for mom's DH

love the bag....(of course! :lmao:)

Can't wait to hear about the new project....even if we do have to wait for a while :(

BTW I love the dancing in the room photos....that looks like something I would do (catches your excitement perfectly :thumbsup2)

No major updates until this morning!! I am CAUGHT UP!!! :yay:

I LOVE LOVE the pictures of you dancing. :dancer:

I do the same.. But my dance isn't so photogenic! HA the PP pictures are FABULOUS! i just love all you guys! :grouphug: Yes the last post was a spelling error.. I loved the RIDE pictures!!! GEESH! Bad fat fingers!

and thanks to Kathy who cleared the singing in the rain.. Sorry I thought you were caught up with Kathy's report.. It was pretty fun...

Speaking of rain! you had a bot of wash out! but i bet it helped with the heat?

I always wanted to try Disney quest.. I still might with the little gamers i have living at my house.

I said it on Facebook.. LOVE the Godmother! you did a BANG OUT JOB!
Even tho i missed the Vampire Mickey bag....

It looks like a beautiful day for DTD.

I thought visiting Disneyquest felt like entering a time warp. It needs an update to say the least.

The overalls you bought for your nephew are adorable. My debit card is crying at the thought of visiting WoD. It's hard to say no to disney baby items. :guilty:

Your bus ride sounds dreadful. :scared1:

Hmm... I'm interested to read where you went.

D-

Well, I never had much desire to try out DQ, but certainly now after your experience, I REALLY have no desire to try it out. I would be especially ticked if I had shelled out extra money for it!

Love the sweatshirt in WoD, but I agree $58 is a little pricey! I would have balked at that too.

So glad you got to check out one of our must-do's everytime we go to DTD: Ghiradelli's. I always get their brownie sundae- it is to die for!

Can't wait to hear where you guys are going next!!

I didn't even realize that Alli was taking these photos... She snapped them as soon as we were in our room... I hadn't even put my (HEAVY) bags down yet... and I did "the dance".... You know - THE dance... The one you do when you've finally arrived - you are HOME - and your trip is all there right in front of you. You can't tell me that I am the only one who does this? :rolleyes1

I think these photos capture the moment so perfectly that I had to share them.

I also plan on putting them into their proper place with in Day 1 of my TR.

Okay I just LOVE these photos of you! You at your happy place!!!!:lovestruc

We went to DisneyQuest once and that enough for all of us. Our three kids were all teens then and our son was really into those kinds of games. But the place just isn't fun enough to waste a park day going to. And I hated the claustrophobic feeling of the building. It felt like something out of those horror movies where you are trapped and can't get out. I hated it.
We found the most adorable outfit for Thomas... My new little nephew (born on my Birthday) in The Netherlands... Who could resist this cute little outfit?

20130826_162850.jpg
This is adorable. When I would see things like this back in the days when I was sewing, I would say to myself that I could make something like that myself, and then not buy it. Then I never would get around to making it and wish I had just bought the one in the store in the first place. ;)

We boarded our bus headed back to the resort... When we boarded - the bus driver just smiled... What he should have said is "Welcome to the bus ride from hell."

D~
Everyone seems to get the bus from hell when coming back from DTD. :scared: My sisters were staying at FQ, went to DTD and then took the bus to the Grand Floridian for our ADR. Needless to say they were late because they were on the bus from hell which took over an hour to get to the GF from DTD. The tales of horror from the bus system make DTD a very unattractive destination, although I think I would be tempted to take the boats if I was staying at one of those resorts.

I am super happy with the applique on this one - I feel like I was truly able to capture her expression - which is sometimes hard for me to do on human faces (characters are easier - IMO)...

And I love the interior fabric... I saw the pattern of the flower stems, and it so reminded me of a pumpkin patch.

th_IMG_1274.jpg

D~

You did an amazing job on this applique. Her expression was the first thing I noticed when I looked at this post, her face just seems to relay a warm / happy feeling.

Looking forward to seeing your other project but it sounds like we may have to wait until your next PTR?????? I'm sure it is perfect and since both girls like it I will say it is a winner before I even see it.

Such cute pictures of the girls with Tink. I see you made it to Disney Quest. Our package for this trip came with two free vouchers for DQ and I still have no desire to go there. But at least you got to try it out and not have to deal with crowds. I didn't realize there was a boat at DTD but that last few times I have been there the weather was perfect and it was nice to wander around. It was at night and there were lots of street entertainers so it was a nice walk but I will have to keep that in mind for future reference.

Love the pictures that Alli took of you in the room. I'm impressed that she had her camera ready to snap some pictures - the sign of a true photographer.

I have lots of other PTR/TRs to catch up on but I am a little far behind because I killed my laptop. Water + Computer = BAD For now I am using an extra computer that was collecting dust in my husband's home office (he is a computer guy) so at least I have something but since it is not portable I am limited as to where and when I can use it. No complaints because I am happy to have it and the monitor is nice and big so I can see all of your PP and bag pictures better. :surfweb:

Happy Monday!! You totally did capture the expression of the Fairy Godmother on your latest bag. Wow! Supercalifragalisticexpialidocious!! :cheer2:

1. I still love the TT ride itself, I could do without the design aspect of it though.
2. Love, love, love the Goofy photo of the girls!!! Too funny!
3. Normal is a setting on your dryer, silly girl. Everyone knows this.:rotfl:
4. i trace patterns too. What a boatload of time it takes! :hourglass
5. I totally get the fabric layer thing. It would definitely be a learning curve to get used to it. I sure hope Mr. Rocket straightens up for you!
6. Love the photos with the fairies and Tink especially.
7. Okay, so those photos of you in your room when you first arrive could be ME. I am so glad I'm not the only one. When we're on the ME and on our way, Dan always leans over and whispers, "We're almost home".:lovestruc
8. I haven't done DQ for years. Unless you're talking Dairy Queen.
9. Ghiradelli is AWESOME! And I second the brownie sundae. Unfortunately, we are usually too full from the dining plan to indulge.
10. Your bus ride reminded me of one of our own. We were going to see Cirque de Sole and we were coming from Wilderness Lodge. We had allowed well over an hour to get where we needed to be. All was going well and when we got to the Market Place, Dan asked the bus driver if he made another stop or should we get off there (they had always stopped at all three locations in our experience, but he wanted to make sure). Anyway he said yes two more stops. Great. We stopped at Pleasure Island, or whatever they call it now and we sat tight. The only ones on the bus. But instead of stopping at the West side, we went to the water park next. What?? So we asked the guy and he said they hadn't stopped at West side for years. We thought he understood that we wanted to get off at DTD. So, we rode that stupid bus to every location it went and barely made it to Cirque on time. I don't remember where all it went, but a couple of resorts for sure. :crazy2:

Your updates put me right back at Disney and it is so fun the way you write about your day. Thank you for taking the time to do this. And, fasten your seatbelt for tomorrow morning...it's going to be a bumpy ride. (but fun!)

D, Wow, love the Fairy Godmother Bag! Her expression is awesome. You are a very talented lady. Cute "happy dance" :dance3:

My mother and I both can raise one eyebrow up...mostly when we disapprove of something... My husband "made a suggestion" the other day that I didn't like and he said "I guess that's out because there goes the eyebrow!" :rotfl:
Sheila

Well, that was a "wet" update, D. ;)

I have to tell you about Disney Quest. When it first opened, my boss and the chairman of Disney something or other at the time, were on the same board. The Disney guy gave us passes to Disney Quest, lunch at Wolfgang Puck's (on the West Side...not the counter service one), hats, water bottles and stuffed animals for the kids. Any way, long story short, we did DQ, and the next year we were planning our trip we told the kids they shut it down because it wasn't a success. Yes, bad mommy...but a mommy who still had money in her pocket.

The Tigger outfit for your nephew is absolutely adorable.

Sorry about all of the rain (we sure had plenty of it, didn't we?). But glad you got to stop at Mark's favorite ice cream shop for some ice cream.

That sounded like the bus ride from he double hockey sticks. :headache:

Those pictures of your FQ arrival....LOVE THEM!!!! That is just so incredibly awesome! The sheer joy that we all experience when arriving to our happy place is so gloriously displayed on your face! WTG Ally for capturing that!!! pixiedust:

OMG~ now I have something else to add to my must-do list at DTD... a hot fudge sundae at Ghiradelli! NOMS!!!! Having it split looks like the perfect idea too, just the right amount! :thumbsup2

Okay, so I just finished reading the third Kingdom Keepers and it has an excerpt from the next one...and it takes place at DQ! The first chapter has an "incident" on the virtual space mountain! I am sort of hooked on those books now... :rolleyes1

And the bus ride from he**...EEEK, what a nightmare, considering you could have gotten there faster taking the stinking boat! :crazy2:

I'm joining near the end... but I'm all caught up!

I love flying out of the small airport, but agree the food choices could be better!

Your bags (shoes and head peices too) are fabulous! Your sewaing space is also amazing. I love that you use older machines! I am learning to sew -- it's harder than I thought!

Sorry about the rain. I hope it cooled the weather off for you! I'm wondering when did Ghiradelli change to small plastic cups? :scratchin We skipped it during our last trip, as we had just been in Chi Town and had it. What a bummer!

p.s.
The time alone with your girls is priceless! Such amazing memories!

I'm avoiding real life. :tiptoe: Dis is the best place to do that, so I've done more reading in the last couple days than the last couple months.

I can't believe that your trip has come and gone. How did that happen?!?? Sorry you got some crummy weather, I thought the weathergods saved rain for my February trips.

Looks like you and the girls packed a lot into your time and got to see a lot of people and greet mucho characters and partake in a few good meals. You won't need to go back for a couple years. :rotfl:

:donald:
I got to see one of your Donald bags. The owner looked ready to have a meltdown (no Toy Story Mania fastpasses left? or they droppped their last beignet?) so I didn't introduce myself, but I got a photo. As soon as I find my camera I'll post it.

Your bags never cease to amaze me. I sewed a bunch of stuff over the summer for a craft fair at a church we formerly attended. I made 10 wristlets, three AG pajama sets, three AG T-shirt and skirt sets, and two sets of AG quilts and pillows. The sale was three weeks ago and I wish the women would let me know how they did. I know I should have learned my lesson many moons ago not to make stuff for church craft fairs (too heartbreaking to see what they sell for) but I was bored so volunteered to sew. :sad2: (At least I got it out of my system.)

Can't wait to read more and see more.

Just checking the DIS on the go and low and behold it is Cheryl. So I had to check in to say hi. We missed you around here. :)

Love the pics of you dancing in the room!! I feel like that everytime I get to Disney!

Sorry about the bus ride. It sounds awful!!
