I'm closing on 2 SSR timeshares 9/13/06; 2 contracts with 150 points each. One contract's Use Date is 03/06, the other Use Year 03/07. I have until 08/31/06 to decide if I want to bank this year's points, but if I don't close until 09/06, how can I bank these points, if I decide to do so. I have a membership number, but no Club ID yet. Should I call MS? Will I get a Club ID number, soon? I signed the contracts 08/04. Am I a DVC member now, since I received Approval Request letter, yesterday?
Next questions--can I visit DVC Resorts when I'm not staying at one? Can I use their facilities o/w, ie the pool, restaurants, etc? Do pool privileges include non-DVC resorts?

If you are purchasing directly thru DVC, you will already be in the system and can already make reservations. In addition, DVC will allow you to bank the current points when you close. You can verify that with your guide and make sure that is expedited.

I'm confused about your Use Years however- it looks like you are purchasing 2 contracts- both with a March Use Year? If that is the case, it sounds like you may be purchasing resales?

If you are purchasing resales and one has no 2006 points - the first points will come on March, 2007 although you could borrow them for use sooner if wanted. As for the other contract, with 2006 points, you will be just past your banking deadline- but could still bank 50% of the points after you close. You could ask the seller to bank those points right now for you ... or ... MS sometimes will allow you to extend banking deadlines as a once-in-a-lifetime policy- so you can certainly ask about that if they don't see eager to allow you to bank all of your points. If these are resales, it will take 7-10 days after closing to be in the DVC system and able to make reservations/bank/borrow/etc.

Use of resort facilities is limited to guests at the resort and members staying on points at any of the DVC resorts. Pool hopping is only open to members staying at DVC resorts - the room id must state "DVC Member" and that may need to be presented at the pool.

You will not really be a DVC member until you have closed on your contract. In any event, it sounds like you will be a DVC member pretty soon!

Enjoy! :)

DVC members do not get day use privileges. If these are resale purchases, have the sellers bank the points for you. If they are retail, talk to your guide about it. For resale, you need to talk to DVC and make sure you get them under one master contract, for retail, this should happen automatically assuming the registration is exactly the same.

You can go to a restaurant you want, and you can pool hop to OKW, VWL, SSR for sure ther is no pool hopping allowed at the BCV (SAB is very popular) and this July I heard that LP was closed for hopping.

As was already stated you cannot pool hop if you are not staying at a DVC resort on points. You may however qualify for restaurant discounts.
